I worked on that aircraft for years as a mechanic, then flew it for more years as a pilot.
thats amazing!
how are they built?
@@subaruamazon......
@@subaruamazon there is google and UA-cam videos😉
@@subaruamazoni think in a factory, but i could be wrong.
This is a former Air-Borne Express DC9 N952AX that I worked on at KMSY in the 90's glad to see it is going to a good cause,
That's awesome! come visit when it's done!
My dad was a pilot on that very aircraft. Glad to see it going to a good home
That's pretty cool! Come check it out when the construction is done: ua-cam.com/video/1v0oxD4DlAk/v-deo.html
Honestly didn’t come into the video expecting to learn about the logistical nightmare that transporting this behemoth was. Thanks for explaining that. Kudos to you for seeing it through.
Glad you enjoyed it! Stay tuned for updates on the reassembly and construction!
That was an airplane we used to work on in Wilmington OH during the ABX air days prior to 2008 very cool
Come visit when it's done!
For a second I thought it was a Boeing, because the door was missing.
For a second I thought this was funny.
For a second I thought the name of the plane was in the title
Lol
Good one.
😂😂😂
Very cool. Ive always wanted to convert an L-1011 into a house.
Are there any left to do that with?
Omg I want to see that happen the l1011 is such a cool plane
I've always wanted one of the late '70s DC-10s, or Boeing 747, they were so luxurious that there's nothing built today to even compare it to
I am absolutely dying watching that jet get towed down the road! What an awesome idea! I think the DHL livery makes it even more hilarious because you can't miss it. Might have to book a trip up there :)
Come up and visit us!
@@jonkotwicki As soon as I get my PPL wrapped up! (Getting close). I'll need to get a tailwheel endorsement somehow :)
5:44 I bet that crane operator had to change his pants after that tail swung toward him. 🤣
LMAO!! I got to work on that exact airplane when I worked for DHL! Congrats on your new house!
She is live on Airbnb! www.airbnb.com/rooms/908681227751910215?source_impression_id=p3_1704493187_qP1Y1k3OseIApd9N
727 is probably one of the coolest models to do this with. I'm surprised there's still one left in flying condition. Kinda sucks to cut it up.
I mean, there is still a hand full of 727s actually flying
Aerosucre still has some...for now
This is an dc9 bro
@@Guy_in_the_comments75 did you even watch the entire video?
@@truekisokahe meant at the end when a 727 is teased for a future project.
WOW! N952AX, I worked on that DC9 when at ABX Air in KILN. Glad you saved her!
I live 15-20 miles from Wilmington Air Park.
Very cool. I’ve got a lot of hours in that exact plane.
We hope you come see it when its completed!
Shoulda bought Jimmy's world Elvis plane. Bet he'd be willing to dump that mistake bigly.
No kidding. Buying the Elvis jet was a fool’s errand.
lol
Well he just bought a old fedex 727 sooo
@@cubbles5689well there goes another one 🫡
@@cubbles5689it's DHL not fedex
So insanely cool Jon! Good luck with the all of these projects. It will be unique and an aviator's dream!
Awesome work, you guys are really creating something unique and special. So much cooler than your typical flight school and I'm sure you'll do fantastically! Not to mention, as frustrating as that stuff can be, I'm sure it's a blast creating something for you and others to enjoy for years to come!
That N952AX (november 952 alpha x ray) was involved in an incident on jan 9 2009 where it tipped onto its tail because of ice buildup.. this airframe’s story is interestiiing
You should see how much snow and ice built up she has on her now from just sitting in AK
This -41 started out in Japan for Toa airways in 1974, then JAS, then ABX. Pretty cool old bird.
Man it’s coming along… so proud of you guys!
Thank you!
What a great project. It's going to be fantastic!
You’re wild man! Cool to see your plan come together! We’ll have to visit when you have it set up.
Awesome stuff, John! Looking forward to visiting:)
Wow this in insane!! I haven’t come across your channel in years you where stuck on a cruise ship last time aha !! Now you doing this. You two never cease to amaze me enjoy your new adventure
Welcome back!

that's weirdly high off the ground for a low-floor trailer....
Probably one of the best videos I’ve watched. Been watching your content for years and this was fantastic content! Looking forward to see more!
Im a CASA Cpl_H, FAA -PPL H
really looking forward to doing my fix wing add on, really makes me wish i could get over to you guys, Maybe in a few years ill come up and over and do some training, it really does look awesome!!
Keep it up and keep us updated with the projects!
My dream is to become a pilot and I have over 10 years of construction experience and I am mechanically inclined I will work for exchange for schooling. I'm currently doing your online training and what your doing is so cool!!!!
Awesome project ✈️ a house made of a DC9 👏🏻 looking forward to to see it
Coming soon!
POV: Using a DC10 with its almost 6m wide cabin
I worked on that plane when I was interning at ABX Air! So good to see it didn't end up scrapped ❤
We got her here now for her new life: ua-cam.com/video/1v0oxD4DlAk/v-deo.html
I see all of those rivets on the wings and all I can think of is how much of a "riveting" job it must be to assemble one of these giants.
Man, this would be an awesome opportunity. I wish I wasn't tied down and could re-locate to take advantage of it!
if it was a house and could fly at the same time (if its not too old) it will be slick, like just a flying home with wings and engines, i guess everyone's gonna mistake it for a commercial plane
This is so awesome! I hope to someday come up here and stay and maybe do some training. So incredible!
The MD80 next to it was probably getting nervous it’ll become a house too lol
Haha...it would make for a nice shiny house!
Thank you for sharing
you have a great knack for making complex topics fun! ♂️
Glad you think so!
What an awesome idea stay the course!!!
Thanks! Will do!
Awesome 😂I passed you guys in Willow.
Thanks for the video.
You Bet!
I was a loadmaster for Airborne Express on their YS-11's and then DC9's in norfolk,va back in late 80's early 90's.
I'm so glad retired aircraft don't completely get scrapped. So happy some of them go to amazing people like you.
Here's what it looks like now: ua-cam.com/video/1v0oxD4DlAk/v-deo.html
Amazing bro!
Glad you like it!
I bet that AA MD-80 probably thinking Am I next?😳😨
fun fact the wing on the tail is called the elevator and thet helps the plane ascend and descend
Man gets injured, luckily no one was injured 😂
Looking forward to your journey, cheers from Bundaberg.
Much appreciated
Bundaberg ginger beer is my favourite
I think only your people can do great projects and videos.... nice
Holy! That is a dream come true.
It's a fun project! Excited for it to be done: ua-cam.com/video/1v0oxD4DlAk/v-deo.html
Nice job done by all of you, and man that truck driver tall.
Thanks 👍
why transport it by sections when you could use it to your advantage and fly it?
Wow, now *that's* what you call a project! Seeing this a year post-upload through a YT suggestion - How well did it work out? 🙂
One thing I'm curious about, given you have your own runway on site: It's obvious the DC-9 wasn't anywhere near airworthy (Kinda hard to fly a plane with no engines! 😉) so taking it by road makes a lot of sense...But if it had been airworthy, would it have been cheaper to fly it if it was expired and a temporary certificate (etc) had to be issued for the purpose? 😇
Greetings from FAB! ✈🇬🇧👋
I cannot imagine what had to go through! But I am really excited to see what’s next to come.
I would have loved to do the same on my fav aircraft...L1011s. Loved them when flying a lot in the 80's.
Let's see this, going to be interesting
Dc9 is my favorite jet❤
Ever looked at getting that northwest dc9 in Holt, MN that basically just has the tail and fuselage left of it?
Bro is a beast
I remember when the German technology museum at Sinsheim got their Concorde Air France sold it to them for 1 Euro, but shipping cost them 1 Million Euros^^
If anyone ever googles "How to disassemble my DC-9" I bet this video will be the number 1 result for many years to come.
Glad we could fill that niche
DC-9 used to have a tail stairway. Would make a cool entrance.
Very cool
I love the dc-9/md-80/90/B717! I wanna live in a plane now
It's a pretty sweet house! Here's the update where we are at with construction: ua-cam.com/video/1v0oxD4DlAk/v-deo.html
I've seen a lot of wild things in Big Lake Alaska but I think this takes the cake by a long shot.
Hahaha...I'm in competition with Mokie to see who can put more stuff in their backyard
DC-9 what great plane. She didn’t go easily.
👋I have done almost 20 years of heavy civil construction and ran all sorts of equipment🚜 ... college bachelors degree📚 ... also have my IGI and AGI✈. and of course would love to learn more about video editing 🎥
my checkride is coming up and then I'm available to help
thank you❤ for all of your videos for getting me this far !
Send over a resume!
Very cool! it would be awesome to live in a plane, This is one of my favourite ones. I wish they were still flying...
So do I
I used to work on those in the Air Force.
If you dont mind me asking how much did the plane cost and if you can estimate the transport, machines etc

"I'm busy standing on this slick, non-level metal surface 30 feet up in icy conditions, I will address your 'safety wire'-suggestion later."
you should by the C-119 thats at anchorage parked in the back 40 pver by the old gaurd base... the musem ownes it they were taking offers.. lots of room to put whatever in it
Um, did you see who the new owner is as of last week??? ;)
Hi love your vids🎉
Glad you enjoy them!
is an alluminium egg a good foundation for a warm house?
WOW
Me thinking northern Michigan is cold 😭
Please continue the pilot lodge series…. Thanks
2:21 that’s a random time😂
I cannot wait to see this finished and hopefully one day come and visit!
I love the dc9 I want to go on one so bad
You can book a night to stay in ours! It will be ready July 2024. airbnb.com/h/airplanehouse
Keep the cockpit!!!!
It's not going anywhere.
My dad got AN-225 that he bought 33 years ago when union collapsed, it was in a disastrous condition but he only payed 5000$ for it, in a year lots of people offered him up to 50.000$ to take it apart for scrap but he denied everyone and in 1995 throught some connections registered it as a tracktor, since its impossible to move it just sits now in the field untouched for 15 years or so, last time i've been there was in 2010, but now they closed the town and we cant get there lol.
That's pretty cool!
when is the DC-9 ready
thank god it's not the infamous DC-10
I really want to see the process of making people pull over to make way for this big airplane on the roadway.
I remember a Boeing 727 named Lady patricia who is now standing near vejle as a conference room.
Absolutely brilliant video to watch and learn thanks 🤟👌💚👍✌️🤞💯💯✈️✈️🛩️🛩️✈️✈️🛩️🛩️
Thank you!
as an aviation lover, it just hurts to watch the DC-9 get destroyed 😭
At least now it's getting used and not just sitting on a tarmac.
lol this is so cool!
It's coming along really well! Here's an update: ua-cam.com/video/1v0oxD4DlAk/v-deo.html
Did you take out the wires?
Great idea for a drinking game. Every time the narrator says "sketchy" you take a shot.
is it too late to ask for a general construction job spot for your awesome planes? I just came across your channel and its amazing! My name is Darren and I'm a huge aviation fan with a recent need of a job!
flipping awesome. my husband and I love the AK and love aviation. when can we visit and rent an airplane house?
Here is the link to book: book.fly8ma.com/
Everts is finally clearing out the back lot. You can get a Brasilia as a condo😂
Why not just take the md-9 from American airlines in the backround? Its in perfect shape, plus you would get the cockpit witch is super cool
We already have a DC-6 and a 727 in addition to the DC-9 we don't need any more aircraft haha.
Just started watching. Fascinating. Who scraps aircraft in Alaska. How is this possible?
The airframes simply cant be flown anymore. Its not that they want to but its not airworthy to fly, so in our case we took advantage of that.
neat, one of the scarce DC-9-40s
It's a LONG one...super nice having that much room inside
You have to make a simulator in the 727.
One of you two has to be independently wealthy. 😊. Great you have the energy, enthusiasm and money to pull off your dreams. If I had to pick between living my life in Florida or Alaska I would pick Arizona.
Pilot cabin should became a simulator room(computer room)
We do plan on installing a sim in the cockpit.
Jon!
Awesome.
Watch out for balloons!
Take care.
