VIDEO CORRECTION ALERT: so it’s been brought to the communities knowledge now by a former dev that echo was in fact, not built on rust but instead c++. This only makes brings more questions though because now we have to start asking why it is that RAD couldn’t at least keep the servers up since they at least now know how to keep the game up.

For people who haven’t played Echo VR, know that the title isn’t exaggerating, this was the best VR game

I was an Echo VR Season 4 competitor. I loved echo vr, it was the perfect game, the perfect community and the perfect dev team. I’m sad that it’s gone and i may never find a game like it ever again.
Maybe someday the source code will get leaked and the community will bring the game back to life, albeit not in a fully supported sense. It's happened with other games before... we can only hope.

@@_spineless you can still play the game in offline mode and play with bots but its not the same, some ppl are trying to edit the code to have server hosting so we may be able to play our game once again someday. Lets hope its works out

Game is sorta back if you use an offline mod that just recently released.
I wish Echo would keep the game up and running, It was really the only thing I would play on my VR cause it's the only thing I would have found interesting but here we are with no way to come back at the moment and no longer will be able to play the game that I loved. The community was good, The gameplay was good too, I will miss it for a very long time.

I played echo very for a year and it was a joy and I was sad when I realized when I could not find the same joy makeing a goal and seeing new people
I've been playing for so long, so hard to leave something I had that kept me going but it was still a amazing experience. God speed Echo Vr!

Genuinely amazing documentary. I'm not a day one player by any means, but it's still heart-wrenching to see such a unique game with a dedicated community get buried. VR deserves better. But I think the passion of the community will bring a new game into the spotlight that could eventually be even better...here's hoping!

VRML2 Competitor here, that game was so fun, basically my life at the time and them shut it down had me emotional, even for a game. To our team, Echo was more than a game though. This really sucks that it was shut down, time for the next big thing I guess
I'm really going to miss all of you. I don't want to get too heavy, but I went through some awful times during the pandemic, and you were all there for me, with some of the funniest people, I laughed myself to tears so many times... I mean, sure... the game could be toxic af sometimes, but somehow, for some reason, I might just miss that too. Echo had been a huge part of my life for 6 years. I made so many lasting friendships in that game. I was active in both Combat and Arena leagues and tournaments. The loss of this game was a huge loss for me.
Echo was the game that clicked for me , it got me into vr. It just so happens that right before that I played gorilla tag. Which in my opinion was just not as good. Overall echo will not be forgotten and it is sad they took away something so amazing.

This game is the first and the best game I have ever played. I loved this game and its community. This is one of the game that I was actually decent at. This game will be cherished in a lot of people's hearts....

i’m pretty confident that there’ll be a remake of the game by meta. the games been associated with toxic behavior and isn’t exactly kid friendly which is important as the number younger vr players have been exponentially increasing, as well as kids proving that they’re willing to spend lots of money on game cosmetics. a remake of the game will give it the rebrand it needs in order to generate new players and more revenue.
part of me also thinks it would be a really smart tactic to release the rebranded game with the quest 3 as a bundle, while making it a meta only exclusive. this way they can start pulling pc and vive players onto the quest platforms. i’m not sure if they’d do something that sneaky, but it’s very possible
I Played Echo Arena when it was first released. It was Mind blowing. I met some awesome people, we would hang out in the lobby discussing life the universe and everything. I remember meeting a guy who told me it was so nice to meet new people that don't judge him from is disability, as he was a war veteran and in a wheelchair. I loved Echo combat too. I feel a lot of it being shut down was due to Facebook haemorrhaging money in to the joke that is the metaverse then having to let staff go. Strange that no one wanted to experience facebooks metaverse, A VR Wii sports universe, when so many had been in an immersive zero gravity future reality. It really was a massive step backwards. I hope it gets a new home

i am livid, i was there a year before the battle pass started. I own and have played all of Lone echo 1-2. This game was the reason I kept playing on my quest headset daily when most other games eventually got stale. I made many friends, made many hilarious memories, and will never get to experience a game just like it again. That would be like meta shutting down beat saber, theres no other game like it. Its an unique experience.
It's devastating to lose such a unique game, with a dedicated community... I spent the final moments of this game with a bunch of the friends i made on this game. A bittersweet end.
Ive watched this a couple times and i actually love the way you tell your stories or whatever you call them lol😅 but your great at making me feel apart of it all over again. Literally every time i get to 3:33 it actually makes my hairs stand on end and makes me feel like im in shock.

EXACTLY the learning curve was steep enough for it to be incredibly satisfying when you score. Population One, the game that Meta wants to replace echo with, is kind of fun, but it takes little to no skill to play so it gets old fast.

I have been playing the game on and off for years now. I remember playing this game and breaking up a sweat. But sadly my headset broke and I never got a replacement for years. But just a couple months back I got the quest 2 and was enjoying its final moments before it shut down. RIP echo.
I just played this game on my friend's Rift. Man I was blown away by how good this was, I played just 30min and I thought this best thing I've played since HL Alyx, so I was gutted to find I can't play this on my Quest 3
I've slowly getting closer to having enough money to buy myself a VR headset after saving for years. It truly saddens me that I'll never be able to play Echo. It looked so fun

I didn't play it that often and I wasn't that good at it, but it was one of the first games I downloaded on my quest 2 and I was addicted for at least a week or two. It's sad seeing such a unique game get shut down so suddenly.

I remember the first Time I played echo was 2 years ago it was me and two of my real life friends over time we got really good but after abt a year we all quit but reasonably in the past 3 months I got back and really enjoyed it and got very good to the point where a day before the game shutdown I got in a game with the echo Vr champion and finalist but my friends didn’t get back on only me and man am I glad I did to witness this great community grow and it really hurts to see people just starting the game to not reall expirence it anyway hope all of y’all have a great like I love y’all all❤️

Good bye Echo VR. I arrive late to game in 2021 during the pandemic when I bought my quest 2. This game is what made me love VR games. Multiplayer especially. It is so surreal since it was announced that Echo VR would shut down. I have play my last game and when the match stop, the server is no longer available. I stood there looking at the message for a long time. Saying goodbye to a big part of my VR experience.
It’s gone, really, it’s really gone just like that. You gotta be joking, right? Echo vr was such a fun experience from the time I played and grinded. I just can’t believe it’s gone, no other game not even a remake can be as good as it. I wish I would have been there in its final moments but I didn’t know it was happening then and missed it. Now I can never play it again, but don’t let this long comment stop you from playing other amazing experiences in vr.

I played before it had the echo pass so I considered myself as and og echo vr player but now that’s it’s shutting down there has been a hole in my heart. I loved the game, after I got done playing It would tell my mom and my dad and even my brothers that they had to try the game and how amazing it was and how it has to be one of the best games ever, which it was, but To see it go was just heartbreaking to me. I loved the game and hope to find a game almost exactly like it and that has a similar community to go along with it, in hopes to fill that hole in my heart for echo vr.

Luckily, I have been given some software, which allows me to host a private multiplayer server, not only on PCVR, but Quest 2 standalone as well. The software can handle millions of players at a time. I also have the source code for said software.

This sucks because it was one of the better free games on the quest store and it had a big playerbase meaning that there would always be people to play with.
I honestly hate that it was shut down. Even if they were working on something else, I would rather still have the game up without updates then not have it at all.
