  • The Downfall of China's Luxury Influencers | Vantage with Palki Sharma
In the ever-evolving landscape of social media, where influencers craft their personas and cultivate followings by showcasing their lifestyles, few stories are as compelling and cautionary as that of Wang Hongquanxing. Known to his millions of followers as "China’s Kim Kardashian," Wang's meteoric rise to fame was fuelled by his unabashed displays of wealth and luxury. Wang's infamous claim that he never left his home without wearing at least $1.4 million worth of jewellery and clothing became emblematic of his persona. While such statements endeared him to some of his followers, they also attracted the ire of the authorities. He has now been kicked off the country’s most popular online platforms because internet censorship authorities disapproved of his posts showing off his luxury clothes and high-end jewellery. Why is China cracking down on luxury influencers? Our next report tells you.

So you see displaying wealth as a bad thing or being wealthy? I'm wondering if using money to subvert other countries' economies worse behavior. Flaunting wealth shows you who your potential enemies are. China prefers sneaky wealth with agendas that are hidden and malevolent. Let's go with that instead of mindless peacocks showing off. Right? • @Mady-lo6qb

Not really, the actual rich usually do not flaunt their wealth. Those who *want to portray themselves as rich* are the ones who flaunt what they do not have as they are often in debt and have not paid off for the items they are showing off. Even if they are actually so, what's it to you? Do you have food to eat and clothes to wear?

Government must show/impose regulations and remind people to be socially aware and considerate specially when it comes to showing off grandioseness while others are dying from poverty and destitution! Instead, government must encourage simplicity and how to help out others...

Watching those contents of Intentional showing off of wealth and expensive things is creating a huge pandemic of insucurity complex and craving for unnecessary compulsive shopping among people. More and more people are driving towards buying things out of their budget even if it means taking hefty loans or initiate impractical EMI. Many of them end up having no or very low savings at bank account and are in no position to repay the installments laterwards. Result- Survery shows that most of late 90s Born millennials and Gen Z are the generation suffering with financial crisis and least savings for housing . An old college friend of mine don't have a steady job , he hardly makes 8-10K (INR) from freelancing, and then i saw him using brand new Iphone he bought on EMI 🥴

To some extent I like what CCP does. If parents are unable then govt comes forward to preserve cultural values. In the name of free speech people are literally using social media in the wrong way these days. I have seen kids in my city below 18 yrs of age going to bars and pubs and having rave parties and posting them online. Those who are poor feel ashamed. They then steal money to replicate same. Social media is dangerous if not used properly. Only best thing to watch in social media are knowledgeble videos where you get to learn something. Posting half naked photos just for sake of few likes has become a trend. Girls posting photos of their legs and butts to impress guys. Guys posting bike stunts endangering others life to impress girls. And now AI is here. It will ruin this generation of lazy kids.

Whereas China is the true East Asian powerhouse. That said China has a loooot of Christians now.
