I just finished this book and like you, I also thought it was entertaining but definitely not a thriller or mystery. It took me a few chapter to get into it and understand what was going on. Very slow start. I found myself going back to re read in order to comprehend. All in all, and for what it's worth, I give a solid 3 star.
Just came across your channel and subbed :) Just posted my review for this book too ! I love Lisa Jewell's writing. I agree that this book wasn't as dark, for me in particular with her other books (cough cough....Then She Was Gone...) ha!
I agree. The plot points felt out of place. The last 3 chapters were dialogue of the characters in the present trying to tie everything up. Could have been darker! And the plot points were extremely predictable. Still somewhat of a fun read though
Somebody who has read this book pls temme why did Henry put a GPS and video tracker on Libby's phone on the night at the apt.. why did he want ti kno if she would go meet Clemency .. This part of the book and the motive is unclear to me
I actually went to a signing for The Family Upstairs a few months ago! I have a video on my channel about it, if you'd like to see some clips of Lisa Jewell speaking. =) Super great footage! (That's me being totally sarcastic, I was in the back, so there are a lot of heads between me and her, lol!) Also, I love your lamps and the artwork over your bed!
Yooo I will start this book tomorrow that's why I came to this video yoo your review are awsome you make us want to read the book Thank you 🖤 I subscribed 🤙🏿
I hated this book, the author never shut up about how ugly or beautiful this character or that character was. Very shallow and off putting, and the whole thing began to drag once you started realized the “mystery” wasn’t worth the word itself. And I didn’t care about a single character, not in any way, shape, or form.
Fast paced ?? To me it was slow af. As much as i like Lisa Jewel's other books, this is one didn't do it for me, I'll give it 3 out of 10. Hated the plot, it was somewhat unrealistic, unreasonable, just a no no
I loved the book. It was hard to get to know all the characters at first but it was a great read.

Finished it last night and now watching other people's reviews
I honestly enjoyed it once I got into it bit of a roller coaster!

Hey! Thanks for subscribing :) I haven’t read Then She Was Gone - would you recommend it?
Stories&Sarah of course! :) and yes I highly recommend! It’s so good! Was my second favorite thriller of 2019!
It was ‘Flowers In The Attic’ meets ‘ The Very Talented Mr Ripley’

Oh well I wanted to buy this book but I think the videos and comments are all a year long 😅
Can someone tell me what is the age rating of this book

He tells Lucy, he did it because he doesn’t want to “lose” Libby again.
What happened to Henry the dad? I know it said he had a stroke but maybe I missed something else that said if he had died. Thanks.
Would you recommend it to first time readers?
X2

Thank you! Glad to hear you are enjoying the reviews 😊
The plot could have offered so much more as how did the nightshade did not affect birdie but killed rest of the adults, disappointed by the ending
I am struggling and I'm in the beginning. I have 8 more days before this book is returned. I may need to tap out.
That’s a bummer! Sorry to hear you aren’t loving it 😕. Hopefully it will turn around or you can move on to something better!
Hang on ! You may like the end. Different timelines in the beginning is a little confusing, but it will all fall in place
I loved this book so much. I’ve read almost her books! Does anyone know of a very similar author or similar books to this?
Try … Lock every door, Silent patient
This book is basically dollhouse by Melanie Martinez
