Will a transformer auto shutoff IF it is defective? I have a FX Luminaire EX150 transformer and as soon as I turn it on, the ON switch turns OFF. Is it 100% a field wiring/bulb issue (short, too many watts being drawn, etc) OR could it also be a defective transformer too?

200watt portfolio box is kicking on my lights for three seconds then lights turn off and box reads "E" error. I bought a new box today and it does exact same thing. I have 8 landscape lights connected 7watts each no wire frey or tears detected anywhere.

Sorry to hear of your issues and we see it all the time. Portfolio brand lights are garbage and never something we reccomend because we constantly get called out to replace there products along with malibu, volt, many kichler fixtures and so much more.

@@LightingDoctor well I ended up buying 3 transformers 2 portfolio and one kichler and I knew it wasn't possible that all were dysfunctional. It's got to be something else calling that trusted electrician that said otherwise.😕
