In my opinion, even though this is the first and weakest form of Cell, this form is also his truest one. The reason for why I'm saying this is that not only this is his original "straight from the lab" appearance, but it captures the essence of that character better than any other form: a never ending thirst for more power and self-perfection (no pun intended). Plus it is the most intimidating :P
Exactly: he embodies greed and gluttony, even in his very design that features several mouth-beaks in odd places and a huge sucker-tail which he devours his victims with. Yeah, Imperfect Cell is definitely my favorite Cell. Semi-Perfect Cell is just awkward and ridiculous, and Perfect Cell is a generic, arrogant and sadistic villain who likes to grandstand and blow stuff up. Robbie Willz honestly would've preferred if this form got more screentime. Unlike other DBZ villains, he was weaker than the Z fighters and relied on conniving tricks to try and gain an advantage. It was wonderful television from the point they started showing clues about there being a greater danger than the Androids, and my, was the reveal every bit as dreadful as it was made out to be.
I can agree with you, and I've recently realized that since his saiyan cell inheritance, He could've potentially reach the power he had in his perfect form if he just took his time. But, since he was impatient, we never got to discover it.
The fact that he killed trunks and used his machine shows how he is a bloodthirsty monster and really intelligent at the same time so that is unsettling
I actually like this version of cell to his perfect form. More interesting design and a unique trait of being weaker than the main fighters so having to operate with tricks and stealth.
Michael MacAlpine He was actually stronger than all of the Z warriors except Piccolo initially. Then he surpassed even Piccolo and 16 by absorbing more people.
This was originally going to be his only form but Toriyamas editor didnt like the buglike appearance for what was going to be the final villain of the series, so he gave him a transformation. The editor didnt like his second form either, so he made Perfect Cell.

Imperfect Cell was by far the creepiest of the villains, sneaking around and snatching people up like he did, but I found it amusing that he wasn't pursuing the heroes and needed to build his strength while avoiding them. I also liked Cell very much in his perfect form, but I found that it needed more action, by the end he felt like a prop - just waiting for someone (we all knew it was gonna be Gohan) to defeat him. Anyway this song suits the imperfect form.
I love this thing, it's chaotic, sinister, dark, haunting, very kinda bombastic, much like Cell himself, and above all, it's absolutely TERRIFYING, like a predator stalking his prey, a monster that craves nothing more than to absorb every living being there is in his never ending quest for perfection.
I find Imperfect Cell is be unique to the fact that he is very mindful about his position: he's weaker than the protagonists and facing them is a bad idea and he knows that. Unlike just about any Dragonball villain, you got a boogeyman villain running around the place being creepy but doing his best not to attract the protagonists attention too soon. It seems once Semi-Perfect Cell and Perfect Cell came along, that cunning seemed to have vanished in favor of a better fight. The fact that Perfect Cell hosted a tournament showed that Cell had grandeur over just blowing up the planet, also him letting Gohan get to SSJ2 and letting him charge up a Kamehameha to match Cell's is honestly poor decision making of Cell and it got him killed. Pity really, Cell was so much smarter when he's the underdog but when he gets into power he has the same flaw Vegeta and Goku have: wanting a better fight and getting cocky.

I always thought Cell was unique because, by stereotype, the more scary a villain looks then the more powerful they are. With Cell it's completely backwards, the less ugly and monstrous he looked, the stronger he became. Very neat twist :)
I remember the part at 2:12 played during his introduction when he started absorbing that guy in front of Piccolo. So yeah, that's an accurate description of it.
Cell doesn't have a maximum, he actually does is perfect, when Saiyan recover from near death, they become stronger, Namekians can regenerate, so if cell loses half of his body, he regenerates and becomes stronger... Plus, he can even do a Spirit Bomb, which can kill Buu
My favorite scene with this guy is when he went to power up and within his aura you could see the souls of everyone he absorbed. Freakin spooky.
Gave me chills. No other villain in the series had an aura made of souls before.
I know! It was a great effect. Too bad he didn't do that anymore after becoming perfect.

This theme is so epic, that it could fit any of the most terrifying moments that you have ever witnessed.
"Wanna see me drink this guy?"
I always thought Cell was unique because, by stereotype, the more scary a villain looks then the more powerful they are. With Cell it's completely backwards, the less ugly and monstrous he looked, the stronger he became. Very neat twist :)
if only peeps saw the original scene where this played, every step cell took was like this sound: 0:09
+Cojaga Gaming You sir are my favorite. You noticed! =D
+Cojaga Gaming I loved that scene at the air field lol
+Cojaga Gaming Wow, so I wasn't the only one who noticed that.
+shinistrue And of course all good scenes are ruined by krillin.
I didnt remember seeing that as a kid, its so chilling to watch now.
2:11-2:42 Best part. Just wish that it was longer.
I was scared of him ....yeah....especially when he made that sound in the Japanese dub
Captures the 'WTF IS THAT ABOMINATION' feeling really well
the opening part of this theme feels like something pulled out of terraria to tell you the truth.
Matthew Schipper terraria came way after this. This show is almost 30 years old now. And now having realized that I feel like an old man.
Joe Schmoe Hm true. But the style it was presented still feels like it would fit in terraria to me.
Matthew Schipper how can this be pulled out of terraria when dbz came out decade first?
naijaboygangsta because everything else in dbz sounds different, it's just this one part. while all of the game songs in terraria sound like it.
Piccolo: Hey, do YOU wanna see something cool?
Cell: Now I know you're playing me. And I *do*.
The part around 1:37 is chillingly haunting, yet beautiful.
Brachydios Brando 2:12 through the end sounds like the soundtrack of a movie sociopath. That best describes cell in most of his character aspects.
I remember the part at 2:12 played during his introduction when he started absorbing that guy in front of Piccolo. So yeah, that's an accurate description of it.
Most people mention 2:12 but I really feel like it gets good at the 1:37 mark. This is a really good song regardless.
Cell doesn't have a maximum, he actually does is perfect, when Saiyan recover from near death, they become stronger, Namekians can regenerate, so if cell loses half of his body, he regenerates and becomes stronger... Plus, he can even do a Spirit Bomb, which can kill Buu
BEEP!
A sadistic, ambitious creation that wanted nothing more than to become perfect.
imperfect cell theme > perfect cell theme..... and now I wait for the hate.
kai moore I like how you set it up and nothing happened.
DJMEGABLOCK but you happened baby.
kai moore Meh, doesn't bother me. That's your opinion.
This and the theme when Cell introduces himself to piccillo were the best themes in the series by far
Don't I have a theme as well?
unfortunately you share it with Imperfect Cell
your 2nd form sucks
Well not the first couple of episodes though
Yes. Its called: Cell slow theme
