Great Questions !! Good luck with the Gooseberries !! They have been a great one for success levels here on the homestead! Not a common plant here in Canada and I am hoping the plants and berries sell well in the future. Sales Time - Because I am small scale and based on the response and sell times from last year. I would expect these to sell out or be used by end of May 2023. Overhead - I run about 200W of LED bulbs to keep these cuttings alive until I can put them in my greenhouse. I would guestimate that cost to be around $15.00 max a month. I did also add an extra 2 hrs. to the total labour time, just to cover watering, etc. between now and when they sell out. I had a profit of $800 off of the 100 in this video, let's call it $750 - $770 depending on my electrical usage. Still works out to roughly $93 - $96 an hour with the adjusted numbers.
Did you keep your haskap cuttings completely enclosed in your container? Or did you open the container occasionally to get let some oxygen in? Did you keep your enclosed container with the haskap near a light source? Great videos!
Great question last. 1. At the beginning 1-2 weeks I left the lid on for the majority of the day. This helps keep the moisture high. As foliage grows I took the lid off for longer during the days. Unless I forgot, I always put the lids on at night. 2. Yes, light source for 12 ish hours. Keep the light as close to the cuttings as possible. Goal is to promote root growth and not leaf growth. Hope that helps
hey bro thanks for posting missed you!
Thank you! Feeling the vibe in 2023, hoping to have a ton more content!
Don't forget sales time and overhead costs. Well done. I'm going to try gooseberry this year.
