Here's a video demonstrating how to replace the windshield wiper motors on a Citroen C5 X7 tourer.
On this car the front wipers motor are a common issue, causing the windshield wiper to stop functioning properly. Other symptoms include them working just one side, making a clunking noise, not returning to the home position, or them being out of time, causing them to collide.
This video shows you step by step how to remove and replace the windshield wiper arms, transmission and motor assembly.
The windshield arms are first removed by loosening the 16mm nut at their pivot point. They can then be pried up and off of their splines.
Next, the plastic windshield cowl, which sits below the windshield needs to be removed. Its just held in by clips. Remove both the left and right sides for easier access.
Once the plastic is out of the way, three 10mm boltson each motor can be removed to free the windshield wiper motor assembly from the vehicle's body. The electrical connector can then be disconnected.
It is very important to align the timing marks on the wipers when reassembling the unit.
This was demonstrated on a 2009 Citroen C5 tourer, and is the same procedure for all 2008 onward C5 models.

If you're one of the people this didn't work for but got the motivation to do this from this video like myself. Here's what I to mine did after messing about with it when it didn't work.
So, I took out the new wiper motors I just bought from the car after I've installed them and they're not working.
Reinstalled the old ones that weren't working into the car and left them hanging out...i.e...i didn't attach the wiper blades and whatnots just yet...
Connected the battery and started the car engine...
Turned on the wipers, even though they were still the old bad ones... wasn't working yet..
Unplugged the first old wiper motor, plugged in the new one.... unplugged the 2nd old wiper motor and plugged in the new one...
Then the wiper motor shafts started oscillating.
I didn't risk taking out the plugs again... haha!
Squeezed the motors back into their holes and attached the wiper blades.
I was overwhelmed because the mechanic quoted a bill of £900 to buy and repair both. Meanwhile I got both for less than £400 on eBay.

Hey. Big thanks for taking time and posting the video. I have a question. I am in Norway,so left hand drive. My right passanger wiper is not working properly. When I engage the wipers, the left side is ok,working as it ahould buit the right side make a small move and stay in open high position until I lock the car and unlock after some time. Then it goes back to close position but not working, only this action. Is the UK market and EU market the same sides, meaning the same motors (part number) left and right? Will try to reset BSI,but if no help. I will biy used motor, since new is crazy expensive. Greetings!

    • @WhatTube

Hi, yes I think the UK and EU are same, to be sure check the SW and HW numbers on your motors before buying.

@@JotkotGTX560ti hey Karlo. BSI reset didnt work for me. I even removed both of the motors and let them sit inside on warm, and used even extra heat to dry the electric part out. I even opened mechanical part inside and cleaned the rust and what not. Plus I add an extra grease and lubrication since it was all rusted and wet. But unfortunately,I still have the problem. So I order a used motor for the side that was not working. However, that motor was from UK market and when I installed, both wipers didnt work at all. When I installed the old original back,it went back to the same situation, driver side working, passanger didnt.
So my next step is to order both sides motors from the same vehicle,if possible (jus to be in the safe side I guess). Honestly It really upsets me that both are not working.
Lexia is not showing what is the problem, only shows some error.
And justt 1 new motor cost 600 eur!!! 😂

@@JotkotGTX560ti likewise my friend. My advice is,save yourself time and trouble and get the used motors. It is most likely that it will fix the problem. I red many many sites and forums, and 90% of people fixed the problem by replacing motors.
I have a friend who had the same issue,he only took apart and dryied motors, and applied some silicone around plastic with mechanism and it did work for him. However his C5 is around 200k km. My C5 2009 Exclusive is at 320k km,so I guess replacement is a must.
All the best my friend, and feel free to keep me updated with your situation. Best regards!

Do you have any idea what can be?
    sorry about my english hahahaha

    • @WhatTube

I think is one of the two motors, if you want to test a relay you have to apply current on specific pins then if you hear a "tik" that's mean is in good working order.
It's little bit difficult to explain but is very easy to do it.
Try to google it, it's much easier to understand with a picture.

Why have you got to roll window down and key out and remove battery?

    • @WhatTube
      @WhatTube  4 роки тому +1

Because they have electric connections so is better to unplug the battery terminal first, and for the window and the key because this car have a BSI so every time you disconnect the battery is better to perform a "BSI reset", that's why in this way you already done half procedure to do the BSI reset.
Check my other video where I show how to perform a BSI reset.
