To be honest I’d be more interested in a spoken word album where they all just go to the pub and chat bullocks for an hour, the wit and comedy in these videos is just unreal, Lee especially just has me cracking up the entire time 😂😂
@@steventhomas231 Ouch. I'm sorry to hear that man. You could always go the Hendrix route and flip the itch over, but that comes with it's own problems. I feel for you though.
@@steventhomas231 Feel you. I‘m also disappointed when there are no new lefties. @@gigarod ive been looking at those Gretsch as they do seem to make a couple of semi hollow and hollow bodes for lefties. Not many other options sadly.
He really improved a lot. Im just rewatching the old Justin/Captain lessons. Funny how much shit was Lee getting in the comments, for being rubbish student.
The jam session at the end, may just have been the best I ever heard these two play together. You could tell they both enjoyed playing those Epiphones.
Lee hiring Pete was the best thing you could have ever done for your guitar playing. Your really killing buddy! I can see your having way too much fun to be at work! Great guitars! I own a Swingster and it is my No.1 goto guitar. And it is really serial / parallel switching mode, i swapped the pickups to Häussel handwounds, even the stock pickups are great. The original pickups are now in my Gretsch Streamliner and replaced the Broadtrons. My favorite sound is bridge pickup on Pull position mixed with a little neck pickup in Push position. And you get a a carved massive spruce top, not a laminated, pressed plywood!
Got to say, I was diggin to outro jam, right up my street, definitely going to be looking at one these when we can finally head out. I was listening with headphones on - on my lunchbreak with a massive smile on my face. Cheer guys
If I couldn't justify to my wife the purchase of a Gretsch (White Falcon etc), but still wanted to work on those Chris Cheney licks, one of these guitars would more than do for me. The green one is a thing of beauty.
Now THIS is crazy! No more than 5 mins ago, I was browsing Facebook and left a comment on a friend’s post saying that it reminded me of the old Wayne’s World “A sphincter says what?” bit...and only minutes later, I open this video! WOW, what an overwhelming coincidence!!!
I'm not really even into that style of guitar but that intro jam was so great with the playing, style and tone now i like the guitar. You guys are so fun to listen to.
Amazing intro jam! So soulful! Probably the best I've heard on the channel with the captain and Pete! Nice looking guitars. Very much inspired by Gretsch.
Of all the guitar manufacturers last year and this year. I've been most excited about Epiphone, great new acoustics, arch tops, hollowbodies and a huge Les Paul range.
This is probably not going to be the most popular of opinions but here it goes. Pete is an absolute jedi of the guitar and no one can take that away from him, but the truth is that being a begginer I enjoy a lot watching and learning from the captain as he has and amazing style and sticks with the "relatively simple stuff" (that takes me days to learn anyway). Keep it up guys! Stay healthy
I have about 60 videos on my channel with my Epiphone Swingster, it's a great guitar for the money and you can get a lot of versatile tones out of it. Sounds really good clean with a little reverb or slap-back delay for old time rock, blues or rockabilly.
It's fun to see Lee and Pete getting silly in the last video they did before Christmas! Ahh - Christmas... it already seems yonks ago, coming as it did before the latest UK lockdowns! I guess we'll be back to the socially distanced Andertons videos for a while now? :( But, looking on the bright side, these new Epiphones look and sound fantastic! My first serious guitar back in the '70s was a second-hand Casino (I've still got it - and the neck honestly beats anything I've bought since!), so it's great to see Gibson finally putting Epiphone back where they belong as brand to take seriously.
@Ian L12 they sure are. I’m not huge on the Bigsby, but those limited edition ones with the Tune-o-matic bridge were BAH-YEWTIFUL! Epiphone - bring back the Alleykat, dammit!!!
I've been teaching my 7 and 9 year old kids Christmas songs on the ukulele. They've observed that there were lots of 7th chords in those 1940s swing era songs. 😄 when Pete played "swing", it sounded like how my almost 78 year old dad plays every song on guitar😂. Great review!
Great videos, I would enjoy a video where chappers and the captain do a guitar shootout to see if their are specific styles of guitar that compliment each other better in duet situations. Danish Pete is awesome too btw.
Would call myself a 'good beginner-intermediate' player, very quick learner. Been playing squire strats on squire champs for a few months, just upgraded my amp to a Katana 50 mk2 and bought that guitar in forest green! Looking forward to seeing what I can do with it! Wanna learn some blues jam riffs like you were knocking out in the intro man!
Because I love you guys and your energy i bought a 50's Road Worn Purple Telecaster!! You all Rock 🎸 at Andertons wish I could come visit some day.. my dad is from Bristol came to the states when he was 19 he like 65 now lol
@Neon Thunderbird My Swingster has been modded and is thus a long way from stock, but I'd say the stock Swingster doesn't have as good of an unplugged strummed sound. When I strum the Gretsch there's this quality feel to the tone. The Gretsch is better made. The Filter'Trons have more character than the Swingster's humbuckers. The Gretsch has a master volume. Once you have one you need one on every guitar. The Gretsch is my favorite.
@Neon Thunderbird My Rat Rod is my first and only Gretsch experience. While the Epiphone Custom Shop turned out a nice guitar, I just get the sense the Gretsch is better made. The unplugged strum test tells me a lot about the overall quality. If there's a nice airy resonance to it it feels quality. The Swingster is nice and has its own thing going on. I'm keeping it as I like to have at least one guitar tuned differently. I've installed some Guild Lil' Buckers in it. I wasn't vibing with the stock pickups. I didn't like the stock pickups in my Guild Starfire II St. When I put them in the Swingster it was a better fit. The made in Japan models are very nice instruments. One day I'll get one.
@Neon Thunderbird I don't dislike the Swingster as it has its own vibe to it that I like. It was the pickups that needed to go, soundwise as well as the cheesy attempt of the metal covers to go for the Filter'Tron look. I'll go for weeks without playing it then pick it up and realize why I've kept it. Owned it and my Sheraton since 2014. Both of 'em are keepers. Your Swingster was made in Indonesia so it should be a really well made instrument. I've always had good luck with that factory. I do like the dark Red finish on mine but the new finishes are pretty cool too. The Green is probably the best of the new bunch.
@Neon Thunderbird I swapped out the 1/8" stock magnets for some 1/4" magnets to get closer to the original spec. Definite improvement. The other pickups in the 6xxx range are really good from all the reviews I've read. Once day I may get a 6xxx series Gretsch. There are a lot of nice models on the website and they are very tempting.
