@@ElonMasks Both had to do with tense moments during the war, but the Missile Crisis is definitely more recognized than the Standoff at Checkpoint Charlie. Though I will say, TSACC was more tense given the Russians and Americans were RIGHT IN FRONT OF EACH OTHER. Roughly 65.58 meters from each other, with both sides threatening to fire at each other, and that's terrifying.

A WW3 averted in 1962, and now 2022 we have another possible nuclear standoff between US and Russia over Ukraine. These two countries never seem to get along.
They never will until Russia changes like for example a Coupe or a civil war, that would have the potential for a better leader to get into power and build a new and better relationship with NATO

The Americans would not last that long in west berlin. Remember that Berlin is essentially surrounded by the Soviets. Unless They hold out till NATO breakthrough the Fulda gap, they are not going anywhere.

Germany was not the only country divided after 1945; two others were Korea and Vietnam. Nothing on the reasons why Berlin was divided, and how the border was fortified after 13 August 1961.

I am friends with a man who was there and was on the cover of LIFE magazine Sept 8, 1961 as a result. Hell of a guy.
