Hi Jake! designer here, I can answer your question :) we've added the exhaust to move rule to add "weight" to the tactical decisions.. and depth to the gameplay. Don't be discouraged by this first playthrough, the game is not meant to be won on its first blind play... every horde and alliance has his own style to be discovered (and they are less straightforward than year one, for a change). And finally to be clear, level 2 is already harder than the intermediate difficulty from year 1.. so feel free to use level 1 if you want a smoother challenge!
Thank you so much for the reply! All of that definitely makes sense! As I went back and played a few more matches, I could tell there were a lot more opportunities for combos with the decks now! I enjoyed diving deeper into the game and exploring these combos!
No misprint, the emphasis on gaining mana during the Alliance Phase (instead of when it usually gained during the Horde Phase) is to allow for the player to use the Protector’s “Exhaust” ability during the alliance phase (gaining them a mana, an attack boost, and a health boost). Side note, if you could get multiple Protectors in play at the same time, each one would gain an attack and health boost when any one of them takes their “Exhaust” ability. Could be very powerful

I felt sorry for him when those yetnar minions became the Hulk. When my pledge arrive in a couple of weeks I hope i can overcome the challenge

I think you should have summoned your allies a lane further from the royal marksmen, this way you cold've benefit from their special ability
absolutely agree! First time playing with the deck and make a lot of mistakes with them
