- During Tokyo Game Show 2023, Yuzo Koshiro and Ancient Corp. released a brief gameplay video of their upcoming Mega Drive shmup, Earthion. The video shows off the game's impressive sprite scaling effects, as well as its fast-paced and challenging gameplay.
Earthion is a horizontal scrolling shoot 'em up, with players controlling a spaceship as they battle their way through waves of enemies. The game features a variety of different levels, each with its own unique challenges.
The footage shown at TGS was from the game's opening level, and it gave fans a good taste of what to expect from Earthion. The game's visuals are impressive for a Mega Drive game, and the gameplay looks to be both challenging and rewarding.
Earthion is set to be released in 2024, and it is one of the most anticipated upcoming games for the Mega Drive. It is sure to be a must-have for fans of shoot 'em up games.
Personal Thoughts
I am very excited for Earthion. I am a big fan of shoot 'em up games, and I am also a fan of Yuzo Koshiro's music. The footage that I have seen of Earthion so far looks very promising, and I am looking forward to playing the game when it is released in 2024.

irena might end up being better than what some people expect. I played an early demo and it was already surprisingly solid
also looking forward to how journey to oblivion and mega armalyte turn out, as far as aftermarket mega drive shmups go
and of course that is until I do my own MD shmup that will wipe the floor with the competition! 😁
@@ryzmaker11 the three of them are AAA projects. Super good. That's why I said "so far". ZPF is technically impressive and Earthion has Yuzo Koshiro's music and the gameplay looks crazy good. I wouldn't give up on Irena, seems incredibly competent. Great projects for the mighty MD! I will check those you mentioned and if you have a plan, put it into action! Dreams are to be fulfilled, buddy.

regarding those other MD shmups I mentioned though, feel free to check out my playlist "misc. mega drive related" where I gather lot of cool things related to this badass console (even though it became hard to keep up lately with the many projects that are being planned for it thus some games, even probably some major ones, might be unintentionally omitted)
Just tried ZPF demo, and it feels and looks a bit off. Kinda dissappointing really
@@CanalPirataFeeling that would be a bummer (especially since tanzer from the same dev is said to be so good) but your description is kinda how I felt when watching retro gamer boy's vid about it
and like I said here irena might end up being better. did you try it? it feels rather tight, the sound is great (very important in a shmup) and it just has that genuine oldskool vibe
