- Today we take a look at the new Thrustmaster TCA Captain Pack Airbus Edition which includes the TCA Joystick, Throttles and add on pack (flaps/spoilers and more). I have been using this equipment these last months and today I'll give you some of my thoughts, unbox the new collection and run a giveaway where you could win it! Full terms and conditions apply. I am a real world Airbus pilot with thousands of hours flying the real aircraft and thought it would be fun to have a look at the new detailed simulation of the longest baby 'bus by Toliss as well as the new MSFS a320 NEO. Hopefully you find this useful and it brings another perspective to your simulation. Any thoughts or comments are welcome!

To think this time last year how your channel has expanded, helping everyone to fly the Airbus and to know how it is very very good for it's age and how it innovated Aviation with it's FlyByWire system! And helped people like me, crashing into the ground simply because on the thrust levers there are detents for certain stages/procedures! Like I have said trillions of times; thank you so much for your content, it really , really does help as I demonstrated in the Airbus sim the other day! The instructor didnt need to tell me anything about the Airbus except about the odd button or two! Also; cant wait for that Concorde stream 😂😂It is interesting to fly to say the least.
I recieved the final component of this euipment about 4 weeks ago (the quadrant addon) and I really enjoy the added immersion that operating the parking break,, flaps and spoilers from that quadrant gives. I hope the prize winner enjoys it just as much as I do. I also enjoyed the information that you provided on your configuration for the detents - something I may follow. I noticed in your setup you have the physical arrangement as if you are in the copilot seat, but in the sim you are in the Captains seat. WHen I set my system up I found this quite conflicting as previously I had always used my right hand on the sidestick (being right handed this feels more natural). But I put my preferences aside and set it up with the stick on the left and the throttle etc on the right as per the Captains seat and now I am so used to it in that format I just do not notice. I bet in the real world converting from the copilots seat to the captains seat also takes a little getting used to. Yes there are likely to be better options in the future but for the price this is great equipment.

Great video! You really helped me out with the flap detents explaination. I was confused whether you could fly a plane with more than 4 flap settings (for example 737) with this pack!
I recently bought the Airbus Captain's pack and apart from some teething troubles with it not being properly calibrated, its definitely been worth the money. I've now completed my set up with the TPR pendular rudder pedals and configured it so the twist grip on the joystick now controls just the nose wheel steering so basically it acts as a tiller during taxing. It's added more realism to my sim experience and as an added bonus the A320 is now a lot easier to steer during the taxi.
For the joystick, I use the top three buttons on the left and right for FD, LS, Terr for both Capt/FO.

Only one small downside for me: you cannot arm the speedbrakes with the speedbrake lever.
hey since you apparently own the pack i have a question…can you fly a 4 engined plane with it or a plane with more than 4 flap settings?
I totally agree with you Paul, speedbrake arm function should have been there, I did a "work around" by arming SB when pulling to the first notch and disarming when pushing back forward, the drawback is that for all other notches your SB are fully deployed, sort or 1 or 0.
@@neunundfuenfzigpositionyou need to buy a second quadrant for reverse thrust, i hope this helps after 2 years

Goodluck to the UK watchers! Took me months to finally get my add-on set, nice to see they are releasing a complete package. Wonder if they will also do a set or add compatibility for the new group of Xbox flightsimmers.
Honeycomb will do itt in 2 months new Fligt sticks for pc and XBOX

It's unfortunate for people out of UK but good luck to those all who participated in! That product definitely worth it.
I think these products are great. However looking at the Honeycomb throttle quadrant, it seems like a better choice because it can be swapped out for different configs. Ga, Airbus, Boeing, 1-4 engines, etc. Might swap to that at one point for better realism (some configs come with a trim wheel) but until then my 2 quadrants + add-on works perfectly.
Interesting to compare this pack to the Honeycomb Bravo. I don't have this one and have a Bravo, I prefer the flexibility of the Bravo but this TCA pack certainly has a few advantages.The Bravo doesn't have detents like this, it has a gate at the bottom but it doesn't have a range like the reverse on the TCA. There is also no parking brake on the Bravo, although I personally like to use the GA flap lever in place of the PB. I also like to use a stick when I fly Airbus, but that leaves me without a rudder trim switch.
I use the Left/Right engine fire buttons for APU Master/Start.

This will soon be sold out in the UK, probably by 8am tomorrow (Wednesday 13th October).
For the price I was hoping it would be a solid sim-controller but I realize here that they decided to build it as a small plastic toy. Wont be spending 300€ on it. Very happy with their x-55 Rhino though. Also their Boing yoke that is coming soon seems to be more of a solid controller with more feel to it. Lets wait and see.
However best of luck to all you guys in the UK entering. Getting this for free is still a very nice treet for some Airbus-feels.

Hi! Thanks for the wonderful video! I am quite new to Flight Sim and I am considering to buy this Captain Pack. One question: With this setup how would you bind the nose trim wheel? For example you would use the hard buttons? Keyboard keys? Or not used at all?

Pretty frustrating that they have these Captains' packs in stock, but the separate add-on pack isn't in stock anywhere. You'd think they would recognise the demand from existing customers and make some allowances. I do applaud them though for not overly financially penalising those who want to or can only buy the parts separately.
Just so you know if you want to go the cheap end you don’t need rudder pedals you can just use the joystick . Step 1 grab it . Step 2 twist it whichever way you want . Step 3 have fun

Nice Video, thank you for making it. One Question. Till now I am using the Logitech Extreme 3D PRO for Airbus, for Boeing and not to forget for Cessna´s and other lightweights. Are the throttles for example usable on a Cessna or a two engine Prop like JU 52 although that one has 3 engines. But to steer her properly you do use the Throttles.

Hello, I like your videos very much. At first I thought about the Honeycomb yoke and throttle quadrant but since I've been flying the A320neo from FlyByWire quite often, I thought this might be interesting for. Do you know if you can assign the reverse thrust to the throttle lever as in real life? Thanks :)
Can you please detail the USB interface with the PC motherboard? I want to be sure I have the required features to accept this pack before actually buying.
Thank you for the video, nice presentation. We keep seeing people comparing to Honeycomb but what you get for the price is very good here! a complete flight pack for less than Honeycomb, eventhough I like their product. Do you nmanage to fly jumbo with only 2 thrust levers?

Love to watch your videos. Question to all. For the last little while I have noticed that aircrafts in MSFS 2020 are hard to control after landing. I noticed that the rudder is not staying in the commanded postion, but returns to neutral. I am using the CH rudder pedals, but have the same problem while using the Airbus joystick. Oddly, it operated normally once airborne. Also, this anomaly does not happen in Xplane11. Can anyone help?

What are you using to arm/disarm the ground spoilers? That is my only complaint with the quadrant. I have thought about drawing up a custom detent insert block to add a small detent near the fully forward position… but I’d have to find time to fix my 3D printer first…
I agree, it’s a shame TM didn’t add this feature.

Great to see this is now available. I have got this kit by buying separately and I really like it.
Has anyone got the gear lever to work in the FBW A32X in MSFS?
I'm using the development version of FBW and it worked without any configuration (unlike the throttles which need to be calibrated). The gear level just emits a couple of button presses so you could map them to the gear up and down in the MSFS 2020 control config.

Congrats, really great video. One question: would it be worth it for use with Flight Simulator but with a more general flight, for example with "light" aircraft, such as Cessna 152 or 172 (…or for Elite Dangerous)? I don't particularly like airliners but I still find the equipment reviewed very beautiful and complete, compared to other solutions. Alternatively, the usual X52 (pro) or X56.

Great stuff. I actually use the twist for NWS. Why hasn't anyone already done a controller for that! In big airliners how does one steer the aircraft on the ground? airbus and boeing? If you use the rudder pedals does the nose wheel turn? Thanks for sharing!

Does your set engine switches work ok with A32NX mod? Mine not. Engine switch commands, set fuel valve, set engine, set starter.
Mine does. Can't remember the exact thing that needs to be changed in the assignments but fairly certain there is a pinned comment on the FBW Discord explaining how to set it up.

Can't start engines:
Open the controls menu
REMOVE the below:
“Toggle Engine 2 Fuel Valve” - Set to Joystick Button 4
“Toggle Engine 1 Fuel Valve” - Set to Joystick Button 3
KEEP the below:
“Set Engine 2 Fuel Valve” - Set to Joystick Button 4
“Set Engine 1 Fuel Valve” - Set to Joystick Button 3

Works fine with serious A320 simulators like FSlabs, A32NX is a joke, unexpensive, but still a joke.
My simulator started crashing since I started using this. Anyone else has the same issue?

is ti me or does the build look very cheap and basic and simple for the cost i think it could have been made more better and strong switch's and buttons as in the video he stated all plastic which means cheap and breakable very quickly. Stick with honeycomb i think
It's indeed made of plastic and the whole thing is a bit light. But it adds a lot of immersivity in the simulation.
