- I made a switch to remotely operate a dust collector made by Makita using a cheap remote control relay from China.
You can make it wireless with a very simple modification

Remote operation of the dust collector helps improve work efficiency.
The tools is good, nice hands but the idea and execution are below the level of the master.
There are at least 3 ways to make it easier and more beautiful.
In the case of using this remote control, the wires could be soldered inside without making external connections.
The second option is to use a slightly different scheme, the board is connected to the grid, an on-off pulse from the remote control, and cleaner just connected to an electrical socket.
And the third, the most reliable, is to make a switch on the cleaner hose, and do everything with one hand and do not look for the remote control every time. I have a 10 m vacuum cleaner hose, inside a wire and a button at the end of the hose.

Hi JSK-Koubou, an idea to the next video (maybe the 2.0 of this version)
You could wrap a wire around one of your AC lines several times, making a simple transformer. Place a diode at one end of the coil wire to convert to DC, and then a capacitor in parallel (or a filter circuit) to give a steady signal. Then (maybe need a transistor as a relay) but after that you can connect the remote controller, and now you have the remote controller automatic when the drill turns on.
If you do that on the wire (centralize the power source) that power all your workshop machines, now you covered all of them with an automatic dust collector. Just need to drive a
vacuum dust pipe to each place.

Hi koubou, i think it could be better to instal (AC-DC 110V 220V 230V to 12V Converter Isolated Switching Power Supply Board) as an inside power of this relay. And then you have still a free access point for external tools. Greetings

hi, man.the idea is good,but in my opinion for this modification, I would place a step-down adapter inside the case.This frees the control socket.And as an option multiplied key rings for further modifications of machines

An even more satisfying and sleek conversion would be to install the dc supply inside the dust collector case and internally wore the AC mains to it from the back side of the AC socket on the machine. That way, it’s all internal to the dust collector.

Nice work but way easier to just buy a remote plug-in adapter. Cheap and efficient. I have them for all my powertool vacuums and air compressors.

I think that the dust collector has a large current (11A in Makita's catalog), but is it okay?
The load on the switching circuit is a lot less than what the motor draws.
There is only one thing left to do : attach the remote to the vacuum handle, so you can use it with one hand !

I know I could get a AWS dust extractor but not all Makita tolls have a AWS port.

You could have connected the 5v dc adapter to extension socket, but on the inside. Just splice the wires leading to the socket.

I would have tapped into the power outlet from inside the vacuum and put ALL the remote connection inside. It looks hollow enough you could secure the adapter inside someplace.

However, most Japanese 100V specification electrical products are compatible with 110V.
Did you edit the sound? The vacuum cleaner seems very quiet.
The power of the dust collector is minimized.
One teeny weeny little concern. By adapting the wiring on a device you most likely void the warranty.
If the adapted device was involved in a fire then you might find your insurers a tad reluctant to cover the claim.
I daresay a more elegant solution could be achieved by commercially available "fit for purpose" kit.
That said it was a clever idea, but, the few seconds it saves to operate a vacuum cleaner is really neither here or there.
And you might ask how busy you are to need to shave off a few seconds here or there.

There's a better way to do this, without hacking into the vacuum cleaner circuitary.
Get current sensing relay. A relay that would close the power supply (turn on) to the vacuum when it senses current flowing thru another circuit (the power tools).
The function is standard on this dust collector.

モードの様ですが、どの様に設定されたのでしょうか。

Amazonの商品頁の最後の図に動作モードを決めるショートポイントの絵があります。
購入時は左側2点にチップ抵抗が入っており、右側2点はオープンになっています。
左側のチップ抵抗を外し、右側2点をショートするとリモコンボタンを押している
間だけ動作する様になりました。
リモコン接続して、なんとか動作する様になりました。ただ、リモコンのスイッチボタンがBを押してからAを押さないと、ON OFFできません、出来ればリモコンの設定方法をUA-camの方でUPして頂けると、たすかります。それと、リモコン操作した後本体のスイッチを一度OFFにしてからONにしないと本体のスイッチがONになりません。接続は何回も何回も見て間違えはないと」思うのですけれども？お返事を頂けると、幸いです。

A Christmas lights switch that controls an outlet is about $10, often comes in a three pack with a remote. Worst case, get an IOT wall plug switch and control through a smart speaker via voice command. I would not recommend modifying the inside of the vacuum. Lost of cool projects on this channel otherwise.

Or just buy a wireless socket set with remote, easier and safer. I now have one button that turns on/off my table saw, dust extraction and light all at the same time. £15!

My remote switch is my foot.
What's the point in this keychain? If you have to drag the vacuum cleaner to the machine and connect the hose, then it makes no difference whether you press a button on the remote control or a button with your foot.
It is necessary to transfer the power contacts to the edge of the vacuum cleaner hose so that by plugging in the hose you simultaneously turn on the power of the vacuum cleaner. Какой смысл в этом брелке? Если тебе приходится перетаскивать пылесос к станку и подключать шланг, то уже нет разницы, нажимать кнопку на пульте или клавишу ногой.
Нужно перенести контакты питания на край шланга пылесоса, чтобы втыкая шланг ты одновременно включал питание пылесоса. А управление делать на реле тока, чтобы пылесос включался сам тогда, когда ты включаешь станок и отключался, когда ты его выключаешь.

Now day you can easily turn-on/off all of your electronics devices/tools etc with your Android or IOS, just bought smart plug or wifi plug. If you are really like modifications or electric hobby then better to do mods. on the AC Plug instead doing the mods. in your electrical device.
have you even watched the video? it is explained why the mod couldn't be done with a switchable plug...

The product range is fairly comprehensive as you have probably seen.
Buy them in boxes of tens or thousands.
(Quick aside: I now use bootlace crimps on the stranded wire ends to make the task of wire insertion and removal even easier, and not have to worry if stray strands of copper get separated from the rest.)
