This has got me thinking again my heart says old school for Bruce. But on the business side the DTU because Jamie has a few old school wrecker and two new ones plus HR125. The DTU could free up a new wrecker and be used on long distance haulage. Plus can be used for other things when not on jobs more versatile. I now know why @Jamie is in dilemma in what to do. The wrecker can be put on another truck when the time is right and the wreck business picks up or he opens another branch up some where else.

@@mohammedismailkhan6629 @Mohammed Ismail Khan you are absolutely right in everything you said. If you wanted to keep it as a memorial to Bruce you would have kept it blue. As I read the replys everyone for most part says old school. But im a business owner also. If you got the money old school her if not make her a haul truck for year or two get her back to paid off. Take that time to finish the homes wreacker 100% an then old school her. But dont get greedy with her. In your soul you know she should be old school so set a dollar amount when you reach it pull her back in an swap her out. The old girl will smile Bruce will smile an we all will be proud of you

I wanted to add another comment about Bruce’s truck. I know Jamie likes to call the Holmes this and that. In my opinion I think this truck should be called, “Crazy Horse” of the Coq. Just plain and simple. Everybody that’s watched the show since the beginning will know exactly what the means. The dedication to Bruce lives on and Crazy Horse takes on the Coq with the rest of Jamie’s fleet of notorious trucks. 🐎

If you are going to use this as a service truck, I would suggest putting what will work best for the work you will be doing with it. As far as what Bruce thinks, I do not know, but I am sure he would be happy to see his old truck still getting the jobs done regardless of what it has on it. The new paint and upgrades are a good remembrance.

About what I was thinking. If the intent is of it is a everyday usable truck then what is it thats going to be of more use to the business. If the primary goal here is a museum piece or one that isn't going to be used daily then go old school.

    • @hobbytowncrew8934
      @hobbytowncrew8934 3 роки тому +2

I totally agree with James 100%. But the final decision is yours and what you really want. If your not going to use it, don't do it. Why waste space? Unless you plan to put it in a museum or pay for a storage unit and get it out every now N then. I say in respect to Bruce finish it to be used not store away where no one is going to see it. Spend your money on bigger equipment for all your trucks and modernize your fleet. That is what I suggest, but like I said its your decision.

I see a lot saying old school because Bruce would want it and that’s could be so but I think Bruce would also say it’s there for making money and being he’s not driving then go the DTU route so that it continues it’s working ways and not sits for show. Realistically Bruce wasn’t selfish and it would honor his memories more to have it work as well as it would be a double use truck cause the DTU could come off and be use as a regular road tractor in it’s time of need. It’s about being a team player in which Bruce was and the old school would limit the use not better the fleet.

Dtu forsure. Atleast you can detach it when or if required and convert the rig back to hauling as a tractor trailer unit. If there are no wrecks to tow/breakdowns or you go through a quiet spell you have a option to haul a trailer and sub- contract to another company in a quiet time.😎👍

I started my apprenticeship in 1869 at White Trucks in 1969. I would vote for the portable DTU unit. I started fitting out new trucks and later worked installing refuse packers and selling the Garwood line. I also worked on street sweepers and Vac All units including the first double unit for Dofasco on a Ford Louisville which I took to Milwaukee to get the Vac All made and brought it back to Hamilton for delivery. When I crossed the border it was strapped on the truck with one steel lug bolted to the chassis to make it legal.
Love your show and appreciate all the dangers tow operators experience in your job. I wouldn't do the job but I do know what it is like to lay in the snow and cage a brake unit. One guy had a tanker with five axles on the trailer and I took one bad chamber from the rig. I was soaking wet but he insisted I drive his rig back to the shop and he took my warm pickup.

While I would like to see the “old school” body on it.
    The practical side says “DTU”.

Old school. From watching your show I've got into Towing, just started working for a towing recovery service on Monday of last week.

    I love the old school.
Going from 70’s to now. Old school has never let me down.
But if you haul a lot just over the road the dtu is the money makers

I would go old school, like you said; you can put one of those new Holmes on any truck. This isn't just any truck. It's one of Jamie Davis towings most iconic trucks driven by one very iconic driver who was real into the old school operation.

Go with the DTU, long haul that way more people get to see Bruce’s truck and also it’ll be like Bruce is there still driving and going more places and seeing more miles.

I think since the truck is a tribute to Bruce and more profitable to you as a detachable towing unit that's what you should do. Have a nice mural painted on back of sleeper of truck and Bruce in there hay day. I think more people would have a chance to see it on B.C. and U.S . highways.

my vote is for the 1625. will make it a very versatile unit for sure. im not sure waht your weight laws are but i know someone here in illinois that has a 1625 on tandem and doesnt have anu issues scaling it. just my 2 cents, cant wait to see how it turns out either way. stay safe!
