I've run tow trucks for 20 years Bruce, if y'all need to actually get good experience school isn't gonna show y'all alot if what you need to know. I can come down for a week and teach you guy's how to use that beautiful rotator. And understand everything on it
I had no experience all I did was Repo style truck or a 2 car hauler roll back. School is BS just have common sense, Ask other drivers even ones u are not working for And never think you KNOW EVERYTHING. One day Ill get my Own Rollback when I can afford one

Whenever you move that boom, you should always put the Outriggers out.

Hey Bruce look in the tail board box on the driver rear. There is a switch for the power locks for the boxes It’s a black switch kinda hidden. Throw them Blue straps away they are showing webbing and are trash. Once you get new ones protect them. Don’t ever drag them on the ground. Believe it or not I’ve have people drag mine on the ground and the asphalt will trash them. Run that tag axle that’s a 70thousand pound plus truck. I had a 1150r and it weighed 77.860. My Twin steer rotator weights just under 80 thousand. Setting up the tag. Run it 10 psi less than what the drives are empty. If you got 60psi on the drives run 50 psi in the pusher axel. If you run it too much it will pick the steer off the ground. Believe it or not it stabilizes the truck big time

The tag axle should have a lift axle certification that tells what psi it has to be set at by law.
Lake seems to be a good guy to have in your corner. He appears to be dedicated, quite intelligent and able, he always seems to try and anticipate your next need, and that's rare these days. Take care of him, I think he's a keeper!!

Needs a dashcam System with lots of storage- Too many idiots and Brake-checkers out there. 18:41 and backup cameras and blind spots too.
As a professional wrecker driver here in NorCal the most important thing yer new wrecker needs aside from tinted windows is some subs in the Xtra cab part of the cab..
Spend a week or so in AZ with Murphys Diesel to learn how to run a rotator, and what rigging is good to stock up the truck
Get a hold of Josh at Pepe’s towing around California. He will be able to tell you everything you need to know how to stock the truck with the best equipment.😊

Why not fly to LA and visit Pepe's towing they have at least 3 of these rotators. But there are differences. In CA the rotators that can move the boom forward and back are too heavy. But Ron Pratt Mid West Towing has one where he can move the boom fore and aft. Big Flipper at Pepe'e does not have an underreach so it cannot tow. But Hulk has an underreach and can tow loaded tractor trailers as well.
Maybe they can both fly to Arizona & murphys towing wrecker rick can show them both how to run a rotater.
Seeing some of these UA-camrs that have zero experience buy these heavy wreckers is scary
It's funny how people with no background in the industry want to come in and think they are going to be millionaires and save the day. They have no idea that it's going to take 20 grand to outfit that rotator.

I came for the Scania content, but I stayed for all of it. I'm pumped as of whats to come! A suggestion as of videography-wise would be a deadcat for the mic or getting those little DJI microphones for when you guys are out in the wild and then using camera audio in an enclosed environment.

Doesn’t new built US trucks have warning lights for low oil level and or pressure?
I’ve never pulled a dip stick as a pre start check since 1999, but that was on a 1970 era vehicle.
@@kristiangoransson6104 you should never rely on a warning device as 100 accurate.. by the time the warning device goes off the damage has probably occurred… a guaranteed way to check would be to open the hood and manually verify that all your fluids at at the recommended levels… also you can see if anything else might be amiss such as coolant leaks bad belts oil leaks from many different places etc etc…you will catch small issues that will develop into larger ones by not opening the hood and spending a few minutes looking…I ve been trucking for 20 years now and I’ve learned my lesson quite a few times being stranded in the middle of nowhere just because I didn’t do a proper pre trip… not checking air pressures often enough is a big big big mistake is a major one… now I’m pretty anal about preventive maintenance because if you take care of her she will take care of you…..take pride in your ride no matter how old or brand new she is!!!!
@@edwardmullins6735 I was responsible for over 60 buses in the early 2000 and we never pulled a dipstick before starting them. We never had an issue with an oil leak, no issues with them drawing enough oil to cause an issue. I’ve never heard about any trucker ever pulling a dipstick as an everyday thing except for my days in the Army and during my last deployment we were explicitly told to not bother since the warning systems would take care of it that so we were wasting our time doing checks.
The Pere's boys out in LA CALF. is a good learning channel. They have 5 rotators I thank , and two of the guys video there work. You can watch videos day in and out, how to do different jobs. But it comes from experience. There is a school you need to go to . To learn about the ins and outs about your truck.
Get all the chains and straps. Straps can be used more than chains. Make sure it has a Remote to operate the truck. The way it looks not much comes with it

This is HUGE. I’ve been here since AHDS days and this is next level. I predict Tratter Taxi pulling Fitzgerald’s new trailers they’re building. There are enough miles between Livingston and Madisonville for multiple tow trucks or rotators though I predict you’ll be the only UA-cam with a rotator is East TN..
Bruce you will definitely love running the rotator for sure!!! I had fun running one for two and a half years to three years!!! There is a lot to learn but once you do figure it out it’s a breeze!!

Two good resources to help learn the rotator, Ron Pratt is very knowledgeable and a great teacher at Midwest Truck in Scott City MO, as well as Rick Murphy of Murphy's Towing in Arizona. Both would be beneficial for you to get to know.

The last truck i drove had a baaaaaad coolent issuie it was a internal problem of some kind i went thrue 2 or 3 gals of coolent a day and it kept shutting down on me but the smell of coolent burning was constant and good luck to all you guys on your new endever 🙂

Definitely get with insurance companies and smaller tow companys , having rotator is huge because definitely not too many companies out there can afford one 🎉🎉
Having a rotator and nothing else isn't as useful as you think it is. Having a rotator requires experienced operators, and a lot of auxiliary equipment to reach anywhere close to their full potential.
@@towtruckajWe had the competition here jump from a clapped out topkick to a 50 ton sliding rotator ...he got it, found out it was too heavy, even with blanket permits, to tow any break downs in our area. So it sat and rotted for two years until he managed to offload it to some other company 😂
@@saluki417 It's amazing how little thought people put into such a huge investment... Especially one that can get people killed as quickly as a rotator can if operated without the know how necessary to operate one. It's no surprise that more regulation is creeping into the towing industry when people go half cocked and get people hurt due to their ignorance.
@@towtruckaj If you were paying attention, They clearly said, they bought this because they knew they would need it eventually and it was a good deal but they are going to buy all the smaller stuff and get off the ground.
@@towtruckaj Exactly. Plus I believe most companies that have these have them because they are the contracted company for that area. I could have seen a heavy wrecker but a rotator just seems like a huge waste of money here.

We are getting into towing as well. We got an International 4700 wrecker with the DT466E bolted to a 6+1 trans and 2 Ford f450 rollbacks with 7.3idis bolted to zf5 transmissions in em. We're just havin troubles getting the name out as getting the name out there is one of the hardest parts to any business.

Saw one of these operating in the UK with a 28,000lbs+ double decker bus on the back. The bus had never accelerated that hard in its life 😂😂😂
Shit 28k is a medium duty load, I can easily do that with my single axle 25 ton wrecker, It aint nothing but a truck that size.
I think I've seen videos of that truck before, in the one he was dragging a big crane through some narrow ass streets in London and some jackass pedestrian was blocking him because he crossed the centerline to make it around a tight corner and the pedestrian was giving him an ear full about it and he wouldn't move until the cops showed up.

Baileys towing inc for all your synthetic slings and chains. I don’t like to tell people what to do but over 30 years in the business I would highly recommend hiring someone who has the experience and training to run that truck lots to learn and can be very dangerous if you’re not properly trained and experienced. TRAA certification and Tom Luciano classes are the best learning opportunities in my opinion

Ron Pratt has the most informative UA-cam towing videos. Also, I would get to be proficient at operating your rig and be the preferred towing service for as many Insurance companies as possible.
The big problem with ron he dont know how to down shift he always takes the trans out of gear when he is stopping he never uses the engine & the gears to slow him down, pretty dangerous if you ask me.

I would say partner with insurance companies and other tow companies like tim is starting that way you can have a large coverage for stuff you cannot reach - Thats how we run things and good luck !
