What I love about Aaron's reviews is that he gives them credit whilst saying they're not for him, honesty.
I respect and love the art of perfumery. I understand the time, Money and skill to create something. Your never hear me do negative reviews every. (Unless they are unsafe or over priced and the company is ripping you off)
yea since he's a perfumer it's really the most honest review, he reviews on the actual juice itself, how it's blended, how the notes work with each other. not just one of these dime a dozen guys who's reviewing it on a personal level and if they like it or not.
What I love about Aaron’s reviews is how fantastic he always feels! That’s so calmly positive and professional.
I love Dark Rebel. The best JV scent. It just grabs attention and is SO GOOD and not off putting, despite not being a mass appealing freshie.
I can't get enough of your reviews. There's so much raw unique soul mixed with poetry and seasoned with knowledge within each and every review you make. I also am literally tingling feeling the genuine nature of your personality that shows through. I think you are an extremely passionate gem of a human being and am grateful to be able to experience your content. You have also immensely increased my awareness of real value in perfumery - I'm in a quest to find some new exciting fragrances for myself, inspired by a total lack of smell and taste I've experienced having covid and I'm so happy I found you here. As someone who talks with his hands a lot, I love how much he communicates with his hands. It really does help flesh out the meaning of his words for me. This is something that can't be taught. It's felt.
When aaron says welcome back with his hands stretched i imagine the mystical wave must be fragrant. 10/10 reviews
So happy to see this reviewed and thrilled that you enjoy it! This was one of my first fragrances and its still among my favorites. You must try Dark Rebel Rider as well as John Varvatos Oud (You wont find the oud as much but its amazing). Keep them coming!

Had 3 bottles of this...it's heavy leather, rum smell I adore...doesn't last as long as I'd hoped for unfortunately... definitely one I use regular.. excellent review once again.

I’m shocked. I was so sure you wouldn’t like this based on the fact that I haven’t been a huge fan of John Varvatos fragrances. Goes to show to each their own. I’m curious enough to try this one now just to see if I like it. As usual, your reviews are great, whether I agree or disagree with you just based on your knowledge. So informative, thank you. Dark rebel is one unique frag, the best from JV in my opinion. Its not to everyones taste since it gravitates to certain style n personality, but personally i love it for how it portrays, how its blended, n the scent is just enigmatic. The price for it is beyond gd, but the whole JV line/business will be discontinued which made every one attack the market to get whats left of stock, which made prices start to bang on.

Really good description and artistic taste. Sounds like you appreciate the detail, beauty and work the creator put into this scent- even if it is not entirely "up your street". Don't know it yet - but will definately give it a try
This is one of my favorites, and you like it. Wowzers. I'm totally not any of the things you mentioned personality-wise, but I DO like it.
I’ve know of this fragrance for a long time. Never tried it, never interested. But your review has changed my mind and I’m actually excited to try it out.
Get a sample. Its heavy in animal notes.
Gosh, he can himself be a really f boy when he feels an urge to it … he puts it so genuinely natural.. one of the best reviews from him definitely!

This is one of the many fragrances that I like and actually planned on wearing it to the office when we get a bit cooler here. I have worn a wide variety of stronger scents along the way including Armani Prive Rose d'Arabie & Ambre Eccentrico, Chanel Coromandel, several different Amouages, etc. all with no complaints. Plus I have a couple of people who always want to smell what I am wearing.
I think more people want something different and unique. Not everyone wants to smell like Aventus

A little surprised (not much) that you liked this so much. And you are right, person rather than age. I've actually stocked up on this cause it works for me.
As far as performance, JV frags suck for that, but not this for I. It lasts on me and i get a good 5-6 hrs(2 sprays) b4 it is skin scent. Add a 3rd spray on your clothes, or layer with something and you got attitude. Thanks for your thoughts Aaron.

Searched & searched for this JV fragrance, being that it’s discontinued was very hard, then I found a small store that had 4 gift boxes that came with a travel atomizer. Yep I bought them all. 👍🏼

Got this in the mail a week ago, it is freaking INCREDIBLE. Smoky campfire and leather jackets. Even more it on a first date. He could still smell it after I couldn't. There's still remnants of it 8 hours later.
OMG! Aaron, you genius! Yesterday I finnaly smelled your Onyx. Incredibly stunning! So excited you chose this profession. Waiting for the US delivery. Max Aroma is mostly sold out. But that little yummy taste of ATH got me hooked!!! Wow factor 15 out of 10!

Rodrigo Flores-Roux, is the perfumer for this who also happens to be the same guy who has done some work in Tom Fords range. Neroli Portofino, Arabian wood, to name a couple.
This is one of my favorite fragrances ever and I’m a bit of a niche snob, and I with you were right about the longevity however that’s it’s downfall.
I’ve bought frags based on his reviews and I have not been disappointed yet. Mancera Red Tobacco is amazing.
Im amazed at what the fragrance tells you just from smelling it (performance and quality especially) that is an incredible talent. This fragrance doesn't wash off easily in shower either

Great review Aaron! I love this frag and gifted it to my bf, he said he gets a lot of compliments on it! Even though he works mostly on office environment but is very anti - establishment by nature, a true Dark Rebel 😀I hear from other people testing it that it doesn't last a ton though...
I like how he described how he wanted it to be packaged and described it perfectly :)
I love wearing Dylan Blue then the next day wearing Dark Rebel as well as something like Tom Ford Tobacco Oud. That’s what is so cool about fragrances, expressing different parts of your personality. So...I guess I’m complicated

My personal favorite from JV is probably artisan pure. The performance is pretty bad but the smell takes me back to visiting the beach in Connecticut. Rodrigo Flores-Roux is the perfumer for JV.
It's actually crazy how fragrances perform differently on people because I also love artisan pure the most, but on me I can get 9ish hours of performance from it.

Leather fragrances have always made me nauseous; I've had a long-time memory association with the leather scent of the interior of a car, and motion sickness which I had a lot as a kid (still do if I'm not the one driving). Unless the accord is buried deep and creatively, I can't do them. For me, Dark Rebel is a leather bomb, I was instantly sick on first sniff. Cheers Aaron, as always.
As always a perfect an entertaining reveiw so good when you find affordable designers that give the tingles aha Fyi people are buying up John varvatos thinking they might get discontinued hence the fluctuating price , if anyones tempted to try this one sooner the better as it's all getting bought up and re sold at a more premium price

Iyou really can’t go wrong with any JV just make sure a few take a few more blast . Now the only one I don’t like is the JV U.S.A .

This is discontinued now. As Aaron said one for an anti establishment person. Definitely rock this aftershave with a leather jacket with boots. It's an absolutely brilliant fragrance.

Just picked this up today for 24 bucks at marshalles excellent buy
I had been looking for this fragrance everywhere. It was sold out on just about every platform. I walked into a TJ maxx (tk maxx in the uk I think) and found it on a bottom shelf covered in dust for 25.00. I absolutely love this one. I a hundred percent agree with his fetish recommendation. As someone who’s is part of the scene, one of my go to dungeon scents. 🦄

My Dark Rebel fluctuates in performance. I wore mine at work. After I got home, my gf got a whiff of the fragrance and complimented. So that's 9 hours of performance.
Castoreum and leather? Now that sounds like my type of perfume.

@@sly11benal7 I tested it in a shop and went for a blood test. The nurse said "I don't know what cologne is that but it smells marvelous" I bought it right after leaving the clinic. Lol. It's surprisingly strong, bold, fun, risky, and well blended.

I love it but it doesn't last! The John Varvatos fragrance curse. You gotta spray tf outta this to make it last longer than a few hours.

Yes, i knew you would like this. It reminds me of your filth. The whole range is nicely put together with some mature scents, some nice blue summer scents, bad boy ones. Great price for a nice range

I'd say if you're lookin' for something with similar characteristics, ..hmm...maybe consider sampling Givenchy - Gentlemen Only Absolute. It's a fuller, heavier scent, even more for the fall/winter and colder days. I see Rebel as a little more versatile. Another one you could try, but it's even more different than Rebel, would be Lomani's Spice Addict (from the private collection).
These were the only two I loved similarly, that is until I picked up the Dark Rebel 🙂

I don't know if you'll read this - or maybe someone else will....
My skin holds onto fragrances brilliantly. I've been able to smell some scents as skin scents after 4 days and three thorough shower sessions.......very few fragrances do not last at least 8 hours....
BUT most fragrances do not project even when freshly applied. Literally almost nothing can be smelt by anyone until they are a few centimeters away (le Male is one of the rare exceptions).....
