Great vlog Darren. You’ve got fault finding off to a fine art now. As suggested replace the bits you suspect have a problem, its safer too. Still of a mind that all the wiring plugs should be unplugged, sprayed with WD 40 in both sides and reconnect. Black lead syndrome gets everywhere when its not used for a period of time. Keep at it, enjoyable watching you do it. Stay well.
Chain/sprockets are consumable items, just replace 'em when you do a rebuild/restoration. Peace of mind. Next, those cush drive rubbers should fit snugly. Just replace them if they're not, they're not usually expensive. Although cush drive rubbers are not likely the cause of the issue you described. I'd suspect those wheel bearings and chain more than anything else.
Good work mate, definitely honing in on the issue. I had a similar thing with my FZR chain, and even after trying to loosen up the binding links, it was never completely free. The issue’s often from corrosion inside the o-rings in the link, so by that point it’s time for a new one. Watching the video, I wasn’t convinced the hub was moving as it was spinning. It looked more like the dust seal wasn’t quite square and that was giving the effect of movement, but I guess it’s hard to tell on screen. The cush-drive rubbers are so cheap and easy to swap, I’d do it for peace of mind and your inner tube hack seemed to remedy the play issue. Loving how quick you’re getting through it all 👍🏻
Similar sort of issue on Honda Blackbird. Now sorted with new plugs. Edit before I watched through - looks sorted ‘could be Stator (cheap fix) or rectifier (cheap fix) affecting voltage to plugs (cheap fix). I’d measure your chain for wear but looks okay, wheel and Cush drive(?) or bearings appears to be an issue where movement would affect the length of chain and run’
Darren,if any of the chain or sprockets need changing then get a chain and sprocket kit and replace both sprockets and the chain. It’s not acceptable to change only the sprockets or the chain. They all work and wear together. Any bike mechanic will tell you this. Bearings (gearbox or wheel) are a separate issue but if they are worn replace them as well. Overtightening or under tightening of the chain or lack of lube is what would cause premature and uneven wear to chain and sprockets and even bearings. It’s pretty common.
Hi there, just a few points, that chain is shagged with loads of binding links, that wont help, you'll never be able to sort it to run smoothly.. only from the video are the teeth on the front sprocket look well scalloped, Is it the original fitment or has it been swapped for a smaller one? the wheel bearings need replacing and the Cush drive rubbers do wear out so probably need replacing as well

and the cush rubbers.
Get some parts bro , new sprockets and rubbers and new bearings ,job done
sprockt bearing and cush drive will sort out the movement
The sprocket bearing will be shot too😅
The sprocket doughnut might need replacing.

Thanks, yes I’ve got all those bits on order so hopefully all will be sorted!
When you get your new front sprocket you will see how bad the old one is
