I live in Japan and watch many Japanese dramas so it's fun to see some big actors playing rangers back in the day. Both Shinken Red and Gosei Red are big actors now. Gokai Blue is making a name for himself now.
There are some interesting things about Battle Fever J. It originally started out as a sequel to Spider-Man, based on Captain America. At the time, Toei was producing three tokusatsu shows, Kamen Rider, JAKQ, and Spider-Man. Kamen Rider and Spider-Man were doing great, while JAKQ wasn't. Toei couldn't afford to make three shows next season, so they decided they weren't going to make a follow up to JAKQ. They made a new deal with Marvel, to make more shows. The first of which being a show based on Captain America, called Captain Japan. It took the "hero fights monster, monster grows big, hero uses robot to fight monster" formula that Spider-Man used, and applied it to an entire team of "Captains", Captain Russia, Captain Africa, Captain France, Captain America, and the leader Captain Japan. During the early pre-production stages, JAKQ's ratings suddenly skyrocketed, with the introduction of Big One. Toei reevaluated things, and decided to cancel Captain Japan. Focusing on their own properties, over a licensed one. Since there had been no work on a JAKQ follow up, they were behind schedule, and needed to put something together fast. They took the scrapped Captain Japan and reworked it into Battle Fever J. The first Super Sentai to have a giant robot. Meaning that the entire reason Power Rangers has Megazords, is because of Spider-Man. lol
I heard Toei's Spider-Man will make an appearance in Into the Spiderverse 2. Hopefully the many versions of Spider-Man will be confronted by a giant monster, and only one of them knows what to do - shout into his Spider Bracelet, "MAAAAARVELAAAAAAAAAR!"
The main goal for Akibaranger was for them to become official so they meet a few characters from the official Sentai series, some giving inspiration while Akibaranger does their own thing.
Fun fact: Hurricanger (Thunder Storm) and Abaranger (Dino Thunder) are getting their own personal 20th Anniversary movies. Both of them features Abaran red and Hurrican red with their own official Sentai Power up form. Hurrican red with Kabuki as his power up form Abaren red with Rainbow fangs as his power up form Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger also have a 10th anniversary movie featuring a power up form for the whole team. The don brothers are based on the story of the momotaro peach. The red is Don momotaro, the blue is the monkey, the yellow is the devil, the pink is the pheasant and the black is the dog The sixth ranger is based on sun wukong, and his ranger transformations are based on a dragon and tiger There are some "extra rangers" which are the nouto and they become part of the team in chapter 46 and these are based on characters from old tokusatsus There is also Don murasame that is not based on anything and is not that relevant
14:26 frankly, the first super Sentai Gorenger is actually a hit, it was even a season with most episode which is around 80+ episode (while usually around 45-50 episode on average). But the second Sentai JAKQ, the playing card one, is a miss and only survived as the shortest season with 35 episode. The show goes on a break, the studio then collab with Marvel (yes, that Marvel) to produce Spider-Man, where they started using giant robots, and apply it starting from the 3rd season (Battle Fever) , this collaboration with Marvel goes on until sun Vulcan the 5th sentai. Next notable period is Turboranger (13th) and Fiveman (14th), these two has really low rating, and since it was noticable because it's been two seasons in a row, starting from Jetman (15th) they starting to change the formula, drama oriented series featuring love triangle among the members. Jetman was a huge success and imo carried the show considering how two prior season almost made super sentai a mere history.

The Dekaranger I saw when I was two years old was the first Super Sentai I saw in my life. Ume-chan and Jasmine-chan were cute and I loved them. I also like Gekiranger. In particular, Mele-chan, the enemy cadre, was my childhood dream.

Definitely recommend Timeranger as well, one of the best stories in Sentai. Even though it ended in 2001 I still hear from Japanese Sentai/Toku fans that there is still a pretty big hardcore fanbase over there to this day.
Boukenger is one of my favourite series. Some series portray the protagonists well, some portray the villains well, but Boukenger does both, and I love their zord, especially the Grand Voyager (i dont know it actually name in English, i mean the last zord the have)
They did the 6th Ranger really dirty in that show. Especially in the Boukenger vs Super Sentai special! Eiji did all the heavy lifting in that special only to become a glorified cheerleader while the main team took down the villain! What the fuck?!

About Kakuranger/Alien Rangers, i think the Reason why they didnt use the Kakuranger suits for the MMPR' new power set is because, lapart for the MMPR suits being iconic, is that they would have to cut a Ranger out. as Kakuranger only have 5 Rangers (and Ninjor). The Falconzord is actually an autonomous mecha in Kakuranger. Also, fun fact, they switch the order of the Zords. In MMPR they got the Ninja Zords first and then the Shogun Zords but in Kakuranger, the Shogun Zords were first (which in Kakuranger, the Rangers actually transformed into) and then later they got the Ninja Zords
38:40 Definitely recommend checking out Timeranger. Some of the fight scenes are a bit annoying cause of the blurred filming effect and it's a bit slow getting to their equivalent of the Quantum Ranger (TimeFire), but it does so much right with it's story, characters and themes of the show. It is similar to Time Force, however the character's motivations and outcomes are more raw and dry than Time Force. If you like your story a bit brighter with a hit of optimism, Time Force is still really great, but if you're into more of a noir style with a mafia villain and bleaker outcomes, Timeranger is a masterpiece
yeah the Donbrothers motif is kinda hard to identify but they're based on the legend of Momotaro, the peach boy the Sixth Ranger (not in the opening as the video was posted before his debut) is based on the legend of Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, which Son Goku was also based on there's also a dark ranger based in both Sengo Muramasa, who was a legendary Japanese blacksmith, and his rival Masamune Ozadaki (even through they lived in different times)
Funnily enough, it's popular from the get-go with the kids because unlike Kamen Rider who at times usually alone, Sentai fight in group hence why kids can play together more easily with girls being able to join in. Originally sentai is just there because Kamen Rider kinda went on a break or something but it's popularity after the first one let it continue as one of big franchise nowdays. Answer to questions : - Zyuranger is the first time they officially add 6th ranger. It exist in some form beforehands but only for an episode or two unlike Dragonranger which stay for quite sometime during Zyuranger. The reason it's not shown because 6th ranger was some sort of unique existence at the time Kibaranger from Dairanger is kinda a mystery on who it was so it would be kinda spoiler-ish to add who it was in the opening. It would went on like this for few season till 6th ranger become a common thing that people would expect hence why they show them on the later shows
Yeah, I think the idea of 6th ranger would start from X-1 Mask from Maskman, but he was just there for 2 eps I think, so can't really count him as one and I do think he was supposed to be the actual first Maskman member if I remember his story correctly.

Shinkenger had the best theme going on in the last decade, considering the one who did this was Psycho Lover, and they’ve done quite a few. First time hearing them was for the theme of the Witchblade anime.
Akibaranger isn't an official sentai season, but it WAS made by all the same people as the official super sentai shows- They were even allowed to use official sentai suits and characters, including the "American Powerful rangers" whom the in-universe sentai show was apparently based on; They also made a cameo in the Kamen Rider Saber & Zenkaiger crossover movie, Super Hero Senki, which is a fun time on its own, even if like 30 minutes straight is just costumed superheroes shouting catchphrases

there wasn't two kyuruger seasons (dino charge) the one with the white parts on the chest and waist is a Korean sequel that was legally made with the blessing of Toei but is not consider a Kanon Sentai, similar to Akibaranger.

The first unofficial 6th ranger was In Maskman. Then it was in Zyuurangers (MMPR) where a 6th ranger was added tho the relationship between green and red was complicated as they were brothers.

"the 6th ranger" is known as "extra rangers" because they are not part of the main cast; so they're not featured; their mechs are shown to sell more toys

As you saw they never got their own spot in the opening until Gaoranger and even then they’re sometimes barely in it. The dirtiest a 6th ranger has ever been done was in Boukenger in the Boukenger Vs Super Sentai special. The 6th ranger, Bouken Silver, did most of the heavy lifting in that special only to be sidelined for the final battle while his team took out the villain. The worst part is Bouken Silver is probably one of my favorite characters in Super Sentai and they did THAT to him? Come on Toei!

When I was young I really enjoyed it and I still enjoyed it when rewatching it, I just wish they spent more time developing the whole cast instead of just the red ranger.
With your love of the Frog Zord, it's pretty ironic given how Adam was so disappointed to get a frog as his Zord. The Ninja Ranger was sad to get the most iconic ninja animal in history.
Zyuranger was the first season with 6 rangers. Spoilers.However burai the green ranger dies towards the end hence why he isn't in the final opening. Sadly due to dairanger kakurangers story setups it made them way to difficult to adapt 1 to 1 over here in the states.
How about reacting to metal hero show openings? Some of those were used to make VR Troopers and Big Bad Beetleborgs. Choujinki Metalder, Jikuu Senshi Spielban, and Juuko B-Fighter for example. Kyoju tokuso Juspion, Tokkei Winspector, and Toku Shirei Solbrain have good opening too.
I have on thing to say about sun Vulcan beside I need to finish the series. This is the only negative thing I have to say about sun Vulcan how the hell the how did japan not know the dam difference between a dam panther and a cheetah. Lost Galaxy was also my all time favorite Power Rangers. Beside that, Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder are also good. But I gotta admit that I enjoy Super Sentai more than Power Ranger XD. Bro, intro keeps getting better since 2003 Gaoranger

I like super sentai more than power rangers honestly. I knew power rangers first but since im in junior high, then i find this Japanese version of power rangers. I do some research and I know that super sentai is the original version of power rangers. And i compare it both and one thing i found. Super sentai is the real "kids TV show". Its for kids in 5-10 years range. That's why its full of funny stuff.
If you don't count the gold ranger from Zeo for his suit being mainly black, maybe you would consider Solaris Knight from Mystic Force as a Gold Ranger since his suit was mainly gold even when wasn't call as a gold ranger. I had a similar problem with the Quantum Ranger being in forever red when while his suit was mainly red he wasn't a red ranger by name.

Spider-Man was considered unattractive to Japanese children. Poppy's Murakami, who was consulted by Toei, advised that if the car and robot were to appear on the show, they would become a sponsor. Also, before Spider-Man, "Dai Tetsujin 17" was a big hit, and sooner or later, robots will appear in Super Sentai. Even without Spider-Man.
Go-Busters is soo much better then US edit... they totally change the plot and bad guys... its a SUPER dark season and worth watching. Go-Busters was pretty much Sentai say yeah we can make a better Power Rangers then Power Rangers

6th ranger not in the op because he/ she is not the main ranger, not the main 5. Also, there are some add later in the new op video or new op song. Only Maskman, Zyuranger and after have 6th ranger. Others before, doesn't have one. 6th ranger is not common before that.

Next notable period is Turboranger (13th) and Fiveman (14th), these two has really low rating, and since it was noticable because it's been two seasons in a row, starting from Jetman (15th) they starting to change the formula, drama oriented series featuring love triangle among the members. The Dekaranger I saw when I was two years old was the first Super Sentai I saw in my life.

About Kakuranger/Alien Rangers, i think the Reason why they didnt use the Kakuranger suits for the MMPR' new power set is because, lapart for the MMPR suits being iconic, is that they would have to cut a Ranger out. as Kakuranger only have 5 Rangers (and Ninjor). The Falconzord is actually an autonomous mecha in Kakuranger. Also, fun fact, they switch the order of the Zords. In MMPR they got the Ninja Zords first and then the Shogun Zords but in Kakuranger, the Shogun Zords were first (which in Kakuranger, the Rangers actually transformed into) and then later they got the Ninja Zords

Some of the fight scenes are a bit annoying cause of the blurred filming effect and it's a bit slow getting to their equivalent of the Quantum Ranger (TimeFire), but it does so much right with it's story, characters and themes of the show. It is similar to Time Force, however the character's motivations and outcomes are more raw and dry than Time Force. If you like your story a bit brighter with a hit of optimism, Time Force is still really great, but if you're into more of a noir style with a mafia villain and bleaker outcomes, Timeranger is a masterpiece

there's also a dark ranger based in both Sengo Muramasa, who was a legendary Japanese blacksmith, and his rival Masamune Ozadaki (even through they lived in different times)
Funnily enough, it's popular from the get-go with the kids because unlike Kamen Rider who at times usually alone, Sentai fight in group hence why kids can play together more easily with girls being able to join in. Originally sentai is just there because Kamen Rider kinda went on a break or something but it's popularity after the first one let it continue as one of big franchise nowdays.

- Zyuranger is the first time they officially add 6th ranger. It exist in some form beforehands but only for an episode or two unlike Dragonranger which stay for quite sometime during Zyuranger. The reason it's not shown because 6th ranger was some sort of unique existence at the time Kibaranger from Dairanger is kinda a mystery on who it was so it would be kinda spoiler-ish to add who it was in the opening. It would went on like this for few season till 6th ranger become a common thing that people would expect hence why they show them on the later shows

Yeah, I think the idea of 6th ranger would start from X-1 Mask from Maskman, but he was just there for 2 eps I think, so can't really count him as one and I do think he was supposed to be the actual first Maskman member if I remember his story correctly.

The dirtiest a 6th ranger has ever been done was in Boukenger in the Boukenger Vs Super Sentai special. The 6th ranger, Bouken Silver, did most of the heavy lifting in that special only to be sidelined for the final battle while his team took out the villain. The worst part is Bouken Silver is probably one of my favorite characters in Super Sentai and they did THAT to him? Come on Toei!

How about reacting to metal hero show openings? Some of those were used to make VR Troopers and Big Bad Beetleborgs. Choujinki Metalder, Jikuu Senshi Spielban, and Juuko B-Fighter for example. Kyoju tokuso Juspion, Tokkei Winspector, and Toku Shirei Solbrain have good opening too.

I like super sentai more than power rangers honestly. I knew power rangers first but since im in junior high, then i find this Japanese version of power rangers. I do some research and I know that super sentai is the original version of power rangers. And i compare it both and one thing i found. Super sentai is the real "kids TV show". Its for kids in 5-10 years range. That's why its full of funny stuff.
Donbrothers is absolutely fantastic but it's best experienced going in blind.

If you don't count the gold ranger from Zeo for his suit being mainly black, maybe you would consider Solaris Knight from Mystic Force as a Gold Ranger since his suit was mainly gold even when wasn't call as a gold ranger. I had a similar problem with the Quantum Ranger being in forever red when while his suit was mainly red he wasn't a red ranger by name.

I’d actually add, GB makes so much sense given the physics of the world and how computers systems work. I was in my first SWE job when I watched it, and I love it so much!

6th ranger not in the op because he/ she is not the main ranger, not the main 5. Also, there are some add later in the new op video or new op song. Only Maskman, Zyuranger and after have 6th ranger. Others before, doesn't have one. 6th ranger is not common before that.
