  • Here's the Original Martyn Ashton stunts on a road bike video.
    See more of Martyn here: • Martyn Ashton - Trials... and here: • Martyn Ashton & Danny ...
    It's not every day that you see a carbon road bike being used as a stunt machine - hopping over boulders at the beach and styling it up at the skate park.
    British MTB trials legend Martyn Ashton does just that and more in this video, The BikeRadar Roadie.
    The edit sees Mountain Biking Hall of Fame member Ashton hit the tarmac on his carbon Raleigh Avanti Team on his way to the UK's premier bike festival, BikeRadar Live - which took place on 10-11 July 2010.

    8 years later. Will always watch Martyn vids. - Amazing.
    The word 'legend' is over used in cycling. But right from my early days growing up with MTB'ing - Eary MBUK mags, Mint Sauce cartoons, and of course Mr Ashton on mag covers... Now despite all that happened he's still involved in cycling, still one of the biggest names, and still one of the most respected dudes.
    Genuine legend right there.

    I was pretty shocked when I learned what happened, very hard to watch this without feeling sad.

    • @AlexGreenwoodUkulele
      @AlexGreenwoodUkulele 7 років тому +4

      I'm not shocked, and no, they got (I believe) one pinch puncture and that's it.
      It's of no surprize whatsoever. If you charge fullweight into a kerb, you can expect even the forks to give up. If you let off even a minimal amount of weight, only the bike's weight will be thrusted into the kerb, so there's literally no chance of the bike breaking, and a low chance of a puncture.

    I used to be a really good windsurfer. I remember once I took a 12 foot race board with a 6 meter race sail out in 6 foot surf and 18 knot wind, and my friend kept telling me, "you can't do that! You need your wave board!" I was duck jibing the thing and pirouetting and getting like 10 foot airs. He keeps saying it. I keep sailing. That big board actually had some advantages. It carried so much speed I could out run the waves. It was great. I was lucky I didn't break the mast though! hahaha

    Was der durch seine Technik aus einem RR rausholt ist unbegreiflich.Klar sind die Dinger starr,Material vom feinsten,er selbst wiegt nicht viel,... .Aber diese Ironie die einem vor Augen geführt wird finde ich schon nahezu künstlerisch.Zum Einen hält einRR einiges aus und zum Anderen KANN er fahren.So liebevoll (gekonnt) wie er mit dem Rad umgeht... . Viele würden die Laufräder am abgesenkten Bordstein zersemmeln.Wunderschön zu sehen!Hat ihm aber auch ein wenig Schweiß gekostet... .GOIL!!
