Curb feelers or curb finders are springs or wires installed on a vehicle which act as "whiskers" to alert drivers when they are at the right distance from the curb while parking.
The devices are fitted low on the body, close to the wheels. As the vehicle approaches the curb, the protruding feelers scrape against the curb, making a noise and alerting the driver in time to avoid damaging the wheels or hubcaps. The feelers are manufactured to be flexible and do not break easily.

and when they touch the curb it sounds like you are tearing the side of you car off!

They were REALLY popular back when pristine white-wall tires were popular - my dad said they were really popular in the 60's and 70's. I saw them last on this car in chicago on one of those gigantic pimped-out 70's era land-yacht cars. People would scrub those white-walls so they were sparkly white. Any scuff on them would be a mark of shame, so curb feelers were added so you could tell how close you were to the curb and not scratch your tires + hubcaps.

In my opinion, Cars Land is a better designed and well thought of than any other lands there.

Dear Carpetbagger, May I make a suggestion? You have asked more than once for ideas on what National Parks to visit, now that you have your annual pass. Since you are in California, please don't pass up Yosemite Park. If you have never been there, it will be well worth your while, and your audience's too!

If he visits Yosemite he should absolutely take the time to visit Sugar Pine Railroad which can be found on the way into Yosemite along 41. Really awesome railroad totally worth checking out.

My family had a big old Cadillac when I was growing up between 9 and 15 so I'm very familiar with curb feelers. Curb feelers warn you that you're about to scrape your expensive hubcaps and wheels on the curb when parallel parking. The metallic feelers are very loud when they scrape against something and they stick out from the side of the fender as a warning.

Curb feelers went on usually high end cars back in the day to alert you when you were getting too close to the curb so you wouldnt scratch your moon hub caps they went on the fender in front of the tire

Also the older cars had the wider white wall tires. The curb feelers were easily attached to the body of the vehicle usually in front of the right front tire. It was a spring-like flexible rod that would warn the driver when approaching the curb when parking, not to due damage to the tire or wheel. My grandparents had them on their cars. I think I may even have one in my garage. I would have thought Jacob would have known of them. Primarily used from the 40’s thru the 60’s.

Curb feelers also help discharge static electricity from your vehicle so you don't zap yourself getting in or out.

The dinosaurs diorama on the train was part of the Ford's Magic Skyway ride that Disney built for the Ford pavilion at the 1964-65 World's Fair. Once the fair closed, Disney wanted to bring the ride to Disneyland, (like they did with Carousel of Progress, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln & It's A Small World), but Ford didn't want to sponsor it, so they salvaged the dinosaurs and put them on the train route and built the Grand Canyon diorama to go with it. I'm so happy you noticed the Murder Beaver while riding the Mark Twain! Murder Beaver has quite the following amongst Disneyland fans.

I love that you went to DCA and compared it to the actual sights on 66! Side note about the Disneyland railroad, I grew up going to Disneyland and that diorama inside the tunnel is a fond memory from my childhood. Haven’t seen it in a while, didn’t get on it last June when I was there and before that in 2019 it was under renovation. Have a safe trip back east!

What a great addition to your Route 66 trip at Cars Land Downtown Disney. I had been to Downtown Disney many times but, while I liked the movie Cars, I always thought Carsland was just the ride not an entire section. After watching your Route 66 trip, this was an amazing bonus. Thank you for sharing. Keep safe!

I genuinely believe California Adventure is the best park in terms of cool areas to sit and soak in. Cars Land is my favorite part! I will usually do a FastPass for the Guardians ride and then go sit in Cars Land and just soak in the beauty. It still makes me feel like I am back on my own Route 66 trip I took a handful of years back.
