I swear the gaps had to have been set at like 3/16" or so, manual calls for .044" lmfao. Despite that im shocked they had a decent chocolate tan residue, eroded as hell though. Rough starting/running solved immediately aside from few dirty sensors.

If I had to guess as to why it's flooding, my only guess could be the carb if it's got one. Maybe downgrade a size smaller? That's what fixed my dad's c10 from flooding years ago so it should be a similar fix here, either that or the fuel pump is all I can think of that'll fix that from experience
The reason why it's flooding is because too much fuel is being squirted from the primer bottle. Notice when he backs off on the fuel the engine starts. This is a mechanically fuel injected engine with no carburetor. You need to prime it to start with the primer bottle because alcohol is not up to the injectors in the hat at first start up. It takes a while for the fuel to get injected into the engine so it can run under it's own power. The fuel pump is mechanically driven off of the camshaft.
@@ratcamaro gotcha. I throwed one of them on my 76 camaro before I sold it. I needed one with a manual switch to shut it off and on because whoever the dumbass was that last owned it hooked the pump on in a hurry and didn't do it right(it was legit the worst) and it wouldn't stop giving it gas and it would flood everytime. It even leaked all over man (everything was fine and not stained or damaged or anything thank God but still I got spooked for a second there)

This motor doesn’t have a blower. It’s injected alcohol tunnel ram set up. We still use big blowers on our blower motors. Hard to beat a big ol 14-71 high helix blower.
My mistake. Is it possible that someone without a clue, could hydro lock it with fuel, or, does it have to be water, once it's spinning, considering water doesn't burn off?
@@toddamtmann3528it was starving for fuel. When the guy opened the blades a little on the left side of the injector more fuel was getting in. Also only the front 2 cylinders were getting much fuel. When it's running on the injector hat the fuel is squirted in down the sides to the back to promote good fuel distribution. You might be able to hydroloc it if you had a gallon pitcher of fuel and a funnel with a 2 inch tube on it stuck in there and you poured it all in right quick without the engine turning over any.
It’s about 12:1. The long block is a blown alcohol set up. We just removed the blower and installed a tunnel ram with injectors for new driver licensing. The motor in blown alcohol trim ran 7.46 at 185 MPH and 8.30s at 159 MPH injected.
@@ratcamaro I know it does. I don’t know if alcohol means E90, methanol or top alcohol (assuming methanol) but it gets harder to light, the higher the octane. Sounds like he should have been pouring more fuel in it then.

Not enough to hydro lock. 7.4 L is alot to get clogged.
The entire time they were dumping a massive amount of fuel in, there was about 80% of that time the engine said “not enough”

@toddamtmann3528 hydrolocking is caused by water getting into the cylinders because water cannot be compressed, unlike gasoline.
