My issue with Hinge (which is probably the same with all dating apps) is the inflated egos. I do similar work to what you do (studying human/social behavior) and the truth of the matter is if you see hundreds of "attractive" girls in a short amount of time, that is considered the new average. But we dont treat them that way in society. I like to compare to tvs. At one time 720p was amazing. When it became the norm everywhere, it was now average... then it was 1080p and so on.
Those girls are made up and filtered to no end. A lot of those women are straight average or even below but that crap makes them intimidating.
I have a theory that Hinge pumps fake profiles into circulation to make the population look hotter than it really is. Some of the hottest girls i've seen on there are still there after 2 years and those specific profiles always send a like/match, but never talk. If you look at the female side its the same thing too. The first 30 profiles are Chads who make 300k a year and have a puppy
