Hi there, that trip down class 1 rapids did not pan out, but with the many times I have had the boat out in varying conditions over the first month of use, I think it will do fine down Class 1 rapids. I would make sure you are not over loaded and that your weight is not bow heavy, position yourself as far back towards the stern as the seat straps will all, while still being able to touch the foot pegs. Without drain plugs, if a little too much water comes over the bow, no problem, just pull ashore and flip and drain. Even if you swamp the EZLite, it will still be paddleable. Hey cliff, I recently found your channel because I am looking for a portable kayak. I try all over the country riding my bike in places I’ve never ridden and every place I ride there are lakes. So I want to get a portable kayak and I’m looking at the sea eagle ez lite. You seem to move from lake to lake pretty frequently. I was wondering how you clean your kayak so you don’t take any invasive species to new places you paddle? Thanks
Hi, I just roll it up at the lake / bay and throw it into the back of my pickup. I always re-inflate at home with my Mega pump (link below) and wash off, then let dry outside before rolling up. Air Inflation Pumps: alnk.to/9btN2h3
I just ordered this with both suggested skegs because I don’t want to catch on thick seaweed in shallow waters. I hope I fit because I am 6’4 245 lbs! It looks like a stable, fun kayak. I am excited to get my 4th kayak. I have 3 Hobie pedal kayaks that I love but this looks like a very convenient/efficient paddling kayak and I don’t need to worry about hitting weeds if I have the smaller skegs. Yahoo!
You should be OK with the height and weight, I don't think it'll be a problem at all. I am 6 foot, but I have a 34 1/4 inseam, which is quite long. As long as your inseam is not drastically longer than that, you should be OK. Hopefully you got the high back seat model. Just release the straps to slide the seat back as far as it will go. If you need to go back a little bit further, you can put a carabiner on the end and then hook to the D rings. Let me know how it goes, I think it will work out 👍
@@KayakCliff Thanks Cliff! Great suggestion about adding the carabiner for a little more length! I have a 36” inseam so worst case scenario I will put a small cooler or a thicker foam roller piece against the front wall and not use the foot pegs and push against the front of the kayak wall. It should work out fine for me if you are a 34 inseam and it works for you. Yes, I got the nicer seat option. I have enjoyed many of your videos so thanks for posting so many different locations. Getting out on the water is my motivation all winter long to stay fit enough to enjoy the summer on the water. Keep making more interesting boating videos to inspire the rest of us. Thanks Cliff!
@jrabc7823 you are welcome! Let me know how the foot pegs work with you, with a 36 inseam. I think you will be fine. @@KayakCliff Hello, I have a 36 inch leg inseam and I need to make sure this will fit me before buying. For several years, my long legs have fit adequately into the Razor lite with the seat all the way back. I want to make sure I understand the thread above here referring to the optional "high back seat." Does the high back seat have better ability than the inflatable seat to be adjusted all the way back, to accommodate long legs? Thanks for your reply and for your excellent videos!
Hi 👋 there, thank you so much for watching and commenting! I have a 34 inch inseam and it fit me perfectly when I got the boat. That was with the high backseat slid back. At my recommendation on using the earliest model, they moved the seat D rings back another 2 inches. I gave them this recommendation for people with longer in seems like you. I recommend the high back seat, you have a great ability of sliding it further back to suit your needs. I think you will be OK. Worst case, you have a lengthy time to be able to return it in sellable condition, so you can definitely try it out at home. But, like I said, I think you will be fine! Cliff - Thanks, I enjoy your videos and do want to comment. Many of us have been looking for an inflatable that tracks well for floating rivers, and does so without having to use an attachable skeg - for river floats in the Ozarks, any plastic skeg will hang up on the riffles and shallow areas. Thats the problem with the 300X, great for whitewater where you need maximum maneuverability, but for the class 1-2, you don’t want to have to add a skeg for it to track well. I was hoping with the EZ-lite, Sea Eagle would take it to the next step - give us a 12 footer that’s narrow enough to straddle it for easy entering, yet tracks well in class 1-2 without having to add a skeg that will hang up in shallow areas. This EZ-lite is closer to that than the 300x, but not quite there - let’s hope for a narrower 12 ft. version from them someday, and I would be interested in your thoughts on this. I will definitely check out that smaller skeg too, nice to know at least they have one of those, but changing the hull design a little might also improve tracking even without that little one, I think (my 10.5 ft Wilderness Systems Aspire 105 tracks very well even without the skeg down).
Hey 👋 Barry, I believe the easy light with the small skeg would do well and very shallow creeks. I'm going to try it myself on the Brazos river, here in Texas. I actually have high expectations of that set up. I have had the razor light out on many shallow rivers with no skeg. I actually, never use a skeg on the razor light. It performs and tracks beautifully. I actually had the razor light on a strong class one or a week class two loaded down with camping gear and did totally fine. I won't lie, it was a little sketchy, but I came through just fine. Hi Cliff, I really appreciate your informative videos. What size paddle do you recommend for this width? I am 5' 6". Perhaps a 240 or 250 cm? Thank you !!
I’m curious about the EZLite and the RazorLite vs the Fasttrack, which I’ve had for 12 years. The new ones are making me rethink my devotion to the Fasttrack. Do you have an opinion?
Hello Ann, I'm so sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this. You are absolutely right! I do believe the razor light 393RL and the current EZLite, plus future models that might come along, absolutely have people thinking twice about a fast track. My problem with the fast track is that it does not perform at all without a skeg. When you get in shallow water, you often have to removethe skeg, which renders that boat in operable. With a skeg, the fast track is a nice paddling boat, and I do like the ability to stand up in it with great ease. Perhaps a 12+ foot EZLite would be the perfect replacement. Thank you so much for commenting and let me know if you have any other questions. Have a great weekend! Hi Cliff, great videos. The EZlite 10 is probably exactly what I'm looking for in a novice Kayak...except I want to take the wife along too. Have you heard any rumors of Sea Eagle releasing a two person version of the EZlite? Thanks!!
Hello! Love your channel! Just came across it a few days ago and have watched quite a few of your videos. Subscribed as well. I do have a question, unrelated to this video, but maybe you can help? How "tippable" is the RazorLite kayak really? Everyone mentions how tippy it is, but then others mention is really not that bad, but I've never seen a video showing what it would actually take to tip it... video suggestion I guess, but I'm wanting to order it TODAY so a quick answer would be absolutely amazing if you could help :)
Hi there, Eric - thank you for watching, subscribing and commenting! Great question! The razor light is no more tippy than any other 28 inch wide touring style kayak. People that comment negatively, have likely never been in that style of boat before. I have been paddling it for, three years now and have never tipped over even going through heavy class one Rapids loaded down with 70 pounds of camping gear. The razor light is my favorite kayak by far 6 foot, 190 pounds. I think if you're 250 pounds, it's a different story though. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions! By the way, I'm attaching my affiliate link below, if you click on this web link to order, it does not cost you a penny more, it just gets a little bit back to support the videos that I produce. I like your video idea, I will try to put something together that illustrates tipiness! Thanks, and God bless! @KayakCliff thanks for the info and the unbelievably fast reply!! Really trying to decide between the Razorlite and FastTrack. However, I am looking at the 473rl, and the 465ft. Need it for the family so a single seater won't work. I was also looking at the Aquaglide Chelan 155. I like it alot but people seem to lean more towards the Sea Eagle. I guess they are that much better? Hard decision made harder due to price! Can't just buy and hope to like it.
There aren't as many videos on the 473 and 465 for some reason 😞. I did watch your videos on both though, as well as the 420. Thank you for your videos, best I've seen on these kayaks, BY FAR.
@EricGonzalez-bd1qd I have found sea eagle to be top quality! They've been making inflatable kayaks for 50 years now! They also come with a three-year warranty and a generous return period, as long as the product is still sellable. Their customer service is top-notch too! The RazorLite is very stable in my opinion. Been paddling it for 3 years now and never a tip over, that’s even with 70 lbs. of camping gear in it over strong Class 1 rapids.
@KayakCliff FYI, called and placed a 4600 dollar order at Sea Eagle with your name on it. Thank you for your help and quick replies. I might need you to buy me lunch with that nice commission you will get out of my purchase hahaha. Or at least take me with you on a trip because you visit the nicest places! Lol.
Oh, I can only imagine! The demand for this boat has been crazy! Their new shipment I believe is available to ship around July 12, so you should get it a little bit before the end of July. Take care!
@annemuldoon1159 Mine was from the 1st shipment in late May / early June. As far as I know, the July shipment promise held. Great question! Because the EzLite has such a low profile on the sides and bow, it does wonderfully into a headwind. Even Crosswinds will be tempered when they hit the low profile, angled sides of the kayak. I would say it is as good as a sit on top can get with regards to performance into winds. Probably as good as most sit inside touring kayaks, except you, the paddler are sitting up higher. New boat looks great but 300x will always be the GOAT in my mind, the most versatile inflatable available anywhere imo. From lakes to class IV it's never let me down and I spend a LOT of time surfing standing waves in it.
Couldn’t agree with you more Hunter! Have you seen my review on the Explorer line of kayaks? The Do Everything Kayak Sea Eagle Explorer ua-cam.com/video/YmOezRl8Dis/v-deo.html
Wondering, why don’t you use your legs when paddling? Also, if you capsized wearing the pfd strapped on loosely like in this video, it would rise over your head and potentially drown you. The pfd should be snug. Be safe and happy paddling, Cliff.
Oh, I definitely use my legs when paddling, that's what the foot pegs are for. It's not like I push against them with excessive force, but they are a comfort having them there, providing extra stability and core rotation in my strokes. As for the PFD, when it's 100° actual temperature, I like it a little looser. I often jump into the water to cool off and never have any issues with the looser PFD. Thank you so much for watching and commenting and have an awesome week!
Hey, the Pakayak is a great boat! Especially now that it is about 10lbs. lighter! It now comes in at 49lbs. which is really nice. EZLite is really nice too!!! Even lighter. If you do get it, let me know how it worked for you, that will give me better information to help others when they ask the same questions.

I use either a 230 / 240 cm paddle, usually a 230cm unless it is a FastTrack or Explorer, then I use a 240-250.
@@KayakCliff THANK YOU!
@sarahpoland3869 You are welcome!

Thanks!!
I have heard rumors, possibly December 2024 😉

Been paddling it for 3 years now and never a tip over, that’s even with 70 lbs. of camping gear in it over
strong Class 1 rapids.
Lol.
Your ezlite videos are fantastic but also torture. I can't wait till the end of July when mine arrives. 😂
Oh, I can only imagine! The demand for this boat has been crazy! Their new shipment I believe is available to ship around July 12, so you should get it a little bit before the end of July.
Take care!
@@KayakCliff It's definitely going to be worth the wait. 👍🏾
Just ordered two of these but they are back ordered until Sept 10. Did your July 12 shipment hold or were there more delays beyond that?
@@annemuldoon1159 No delays, it came right on time.
@annemuldoon1159 Mine was from the 1st shipment in late May / early June. As far as I know, the July shipment promise held. They are about sold
out of the Sept. shipment, so good thing you got your order in. The EZLite10 has been extremely popular with great reviews from me and others!

How does it handle padding against a headwind? Does it slow you down quite a bit?
Great question! Because the EzLite has such a low profile on the sides and bow, it does wonderfully into a headwind. Even Crosswinds will be tempered when they hit the low profile, angled sides of the kayak. I would say it is as good as a sit on top can get with regards to performance into winds. Probably as good as most sit inside touring kayaks, except you, the paddler are sitting up higher.

Thanks Cliff, I am impressed!
New boat looks great but 300x will always be the GOAT in my mind, the most versatile inflatable available anywhere imo. From lakes to class IV it's never let me down and I spend a LOT of time surfing standing waves in it.

Great video!! Look like a beautiful day! Have a good day and week. Thank you for sharing

Just when I thought I had decided on the Pakayak!
Hey, the Pakayak is a great boat! Especially now that it is about 10lbs. lighter! It now comes in at 49lbs. which is really nice. EZLite is really nice too!!! Even lighter. You just need to figure out weather you want a true sit inside touring kayak, or a sit on top inflatable kayak. Both are great, just need to figure what will suit your paddling needs the best! Let me know if you have any specific questions!
