🙄 Where I live, the expression “thinking about life” is used almost as if referring to having dark, worrying thoughts, almost as if it were something that could be left for later..
One time I was walking down the street, a police officer passed by me, looked at me and asked me, “Are you scared?” I replied, “No, I’m thinking about life, which is worse.”
He laughed and added, “That’s worse, really!”
🙄(I’ve found that dialogue to be a philosophical gem...)
Perhaps thinking about life in terms of a succession of bad things, or thinking about the good things that also happen, seems to me like an exercise in the search for balance.
On the other hand, life is as it is... it unfolds on its own accord, without me thinking about it in those terms... Life goes on.

@ritanunez4349 Rita, that story is definitely a gem!! I love what you wrote and I realize it's bringing me to a place of neutrality, of mindfully watching what I label good or bad. Thank you for your insightful comment and sharing! 💜🙏🏻

What a good story. I hope that EAP person has evolved since giving such dismal advice! 😅

@SarahTheodosia I went back to that same therapist twenty years later and discovered I'd changed a lot more than she had! 😂
Thanks for watching and commenting, I appreciate your interest. 💜
