Why do you want a green car by the way?
I had a green car after waiting 40 years from sister’s petition to loose it after, for not be resident. (My younger sister and my mother also loose their residence)
That the way Americans are, they make you wait 30-40 years to give residence to take it out after. Has this any sense?
In theory TN visa holder can renew TN status at least for 10 years, because this is what SS require for retirement (10 years equivalent to 40 credits), but in the event an officer denies my TN renewal, I retire in US anyway because there is retirement agreement with Canada. Then, I go to live in any other affordable country
Be aware of the layers that want you to expend $10,000.00 or so to file for a green card
GC holder here. I started with TN visa and is very difficult to get the sponsorship by your current employer. I was lucky to have my wife (also on TN) employer sponsor both of us.

Finally a reasonable video on this process. Most other useless videos I've watched just say Yes if you marry a US citizen or switch to an H1B.

This may not work for people who are born in India or China where wait times are insane they will need to renew TN visa after three years
This will work for single people who can marry US citizen while being on TN visa.

Thank you for this very informative video. I’m struggling with the language used “…on this immediate visit…”. What exactly does that mean? How is an immediate visit measured? If one enters on a TN then waits 90 days before filing PERM, does that satisfy the requirement? When does the immediate visit end?
The immediate visit ends when one leaves the US. If someone enters on a TN and does not have the intention to apply for a green card on that visit, but later receives an opportunity to apply for a green card, this would generally not be prohibited.
Can I apply GC without employer sponsorship while in TN ?
If you are eligible for a green card category that does not require an employer sponsor then yes, you can apply for this green card category while on a TN. However, you should plan the timing carefully since you will not be able to renew the TN at a certain point in the green card process.

I have a pending green card application through family sponsorship that is with NVC. I am only waiting for priority date to become current so that interview can be completed at Montreal consulate. While waiting for that, I got a job in the US and decided to move with TN visa. In addition, my employer filed for me permanent sponsorship through green card application. They tried H1B visa lottery but wasn’t selected.
My employer is aware of the above. I am a little concerned what the best option would be when I am scheduled for interview. How long does it take to transition from TN to EB visa?

so what is considered a prudent time to start applying for a green card so it doesn’t seem that is the “intent” even though we already know that is the intent in the first place, but want to avoid issues with immigration?

So the best option for TN visa holder to change status to greencard is by entering US airport using Canada passport, show officer at US airport that I have job invitation letter from employer, get the TN visa approved.
Staying in US for 3 months then apply for greencard by saying company is willing to sponsor me greencard?
