People may think it’s sad that people will think about SCP-173 when looking at the sculptures, but honestly, if it wasn’t for the foundation, we probably wouldn’t be thinking about him at all. I’m thankful for scp for presenting me such an unique artist
@Caldinovin Untitled 2004 was an inspiration to thousands, if not millions of people across the planet, including many writers and artists who went on to share their own creative works with the world through the SCP community. Sure, SCP-173 is probably not what Izumi Kato had in mind when creating this sculpture, but isn't this what art should be all about - being an inspiration, encouraging our imagination to wander, even if it ends up at new and unforseen places? Ideas like copyright and intellectual property stifle human imagination. All works of art and all inventions throughout the history of our species are owed to "theft", to people freely modifying and building upon already existing ideas. The SCP universe itself is a perfect example of this - it only exists because the underlying ideas and concepts are available for everyone to build upon. What started out as a bunch of creepypasta monsters turned into a complex and vast collaboratively written piece of fiction, one that is arguably better and more creative than the majority of copyrighted works these days.
I don't know why people would think it's sad that they see 173 when they look at his artwork, that's actually a good thing as it means is that he has a particular style that's true to him.
Despite original only being interested in 173, I looked at more of his art and find it fascinating. I hope to one day be able to see a piece in person.
@@Raventherose You know, I think there's extra layers of subtext that can be added to that, like maybe SCP does what it does because it wants only those that appreciate the message it's trying to communicate
Originally i came by because I'm a huge scp fan... But Izumi Kato's insight into whether or not realism is the foundation of art and what we can express or learn from exploring more abstract representations of life is actually REALLY interesting and beautiful
@@arob2552 i think both of them are responsible for the foundation, one created the statue and the other showed it to us, maybe he would have showed other strange thing and maybe in other timeline there is another foundation
I know he's technically not actually in the video, but if I had ever seen Untitled 2004 (SCP-173) in person when I was like 9 years old, I'd probably react like "OMG SCP-173 SO EPIC!!!!!" or something cringe like that. If I saw this now I'd look at it and merely just admire it. Not only just because it's SCP-173, because it's just amazing how someone can make something like this. Like it just looks sentient. It literally looks like it wants to kill you the second you blink or look away from it. Absolutely amazing. My reaction at 14 years old would be something like "So here it is... The origin of one of, if not, _the_ most popular SCP. It's insane how this sculpture created an entire fandom. Crazy how I finally get to meet it in person too. I've essentially met the sole reason that something so huge changed my life entirely." That'll probably never happen though.
Also fun fact the wiki article of SCP-173 whould still been created just with a different image of 173 or without the picture if kato wasn't an artist but the intire SCP community knows this guys name because created peanuts image but I still agree that the wiki wouldn't be the same without this guy but it whould of still been created.
all of them are so dream-like of course just like most of you i here for scp 173, but MAN his art is just wow seeing the peanut like that is sorta.. dream-like? ye know
I can see the spiritual underpinnings behind these works, I have a vague idea what they're originally meant to represent. There's possibly some way of encorporating that into the modern Western lore that has been built up around that one sculpture that agknowledges where it came from and the underlying message it's trying to communicate. Maybe we can have a self-aware meta-narrative where the reason for having to look concerns something off balance within ourselves that we're missing by not looking at the primal innocense that the sculpture represents that's been lost in the world, and agknowlledging this is the way to break the curse..
You're onto something with acknowledging "primal innocence". Innocence is the key. There's nothing more precious to Yahweh than an adult, who has lost their innocence, choosing to strive for innocence. Children are innocent by naivete, but once we become accountable, we can CHOOSE innocence. That choice, is everything. Yahweh's son, Yeshua said that, unless we become like a child, we will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Bless you friend ❤️
GUYS It is sad that scp 173 is not a peanut anymore it is best not to associate izumi kato with the sculpture anymore as he never asked the scp foundation to use his artwork. The scp foundation wasn't forced by him to take down the 173 image they did it themseleves and it was the right thing to do scp 173 has damaged izumi katos and untitled 2004s reputation over the year's. Imagine if you made a project with its own meaning and you were so proud of it and then an unknown wiki takes it and calls it a completely random other name then instead of people defending your artwork they just call it the same name and the wiki makes it a killer monster that snaps necks you would be pretty mad or hurt. Please pin this and copy this and spread it to other videos about izumi kato and this comment is not meant to offend anyone I am just trying to spread awareness to other people.
