  • Welcome back to the It Girl Playbook! Today, we’ll continue our series 'It Girl Lessons from It Girls' by diving into the world of a true Hollywood icon, Marilyn Monroe.
    In this episode, we explore how Marilyn Monroe, once known as the shy Norma Jeane, transformed her life through her iconic alter ego, embodying glam and confidence that left the world in awe.
    You see, even stars like Beyoncé with her alter ego, Sasha Fierce also use their stage personas to exude confidence and charisma. And, ladies, you can do it too! By simply changing your mindset and believing in your own worth can transform how others see you and mind you, no expensive makeovers needed!
    And just a reminder: creating an alter ego isn't about rejecting your true self. This concept is about empowering yourself to be the best version you can be! Whether you're looking to boost your confidence or make a positive change in your life, by truly embracing your alter ego, you can walk with confidence just like Marilyn Monroe and Beyoncé did.

    As a little girl I didn’t grow up in a stable healthy household. I used to day dream so vividly of what I would become after I left my childhood homes. It was a means of escape from the rough realities I faced. I essentially manifested the way my hair would look, the way I spoke, the way I dressed, absolutely every detail even down to my husband and children and guess what it all happened xx

      @@j1h4n37 thank you so very much darling. I did it in a kind of meditation way, lots of deep breathing and imagining. I was so young I didn’t really know what I was doing to start with but I soon got the hang of it and it became routine. I didn’t speak about it and I didn’t even know what I was doing was called. I do it now but it’s less frequent and I do it alongside gratification x hope this reply helps somewhat xx

    Building an alter ego is great but what I’m learning as a woman almost hitting 40 is that if you don’t do the inner work to shift/grow than the outer alter ego is just a shell and they don’t sync up and it absolutely wreaks havoc in your life. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it’s true. It’s a lot of work doing the inner stuff but I believe it’s so worth it and it actually is the thing that gives a reference point to the outer you.

    • @PriscilaWise
      @PriscilaWise Місяць тому +37

      You are absolutely right! Without the inner work (emotional and intellectual) a woman will end up like Norma Jeane ended up. I'm close to 41, and only now I feel me and my alter ego are closer to be integrated, because I was able to become guided by my inner peace.

    5:15 EXACTLYY If you really want to love yourself, you need to treat yourself like your friend, mom, lover, someone you love. Would you want them to stay depressed and insecure? No! You would want them to change, reach their utmost potential, and thrive. That is exactly what you should want for yourself too.
    Compliment yourself like you would a friend. Celebrate your achievements, no matter how small, and offer yourself words of encouragement. Take time to care for your mental and physical health, and don’t be afraid to set boundaries that protect your peace. Be patient with yourself, forgive your mistakes, and acknowledge your worth.
    You are your best friend, and you have to treat yourself like one.

    This reminds me of the phrase "fake it until you make it." I'm from Brazil and I'm starting out as a model, so a big reference for me is also Gisele Bundchen. She mentions in her book that when she walked the runway, she embodied a persona full of confidence and strength, which was reflected in her walk, her gaze, and the way she moved on the catwalk. This helped her a lot with criticism as well. Models hear a lot of crap, and a large part of the beginning of a career is about being rejected in castings. About this, Gisele said that every time someone told her something, she directed those comments to her alter ego. I've been trying to create my persona, and this video appeared at the perfect time. I loved it! You've gained another subscriber.
    Kisses from Brazil ❤❤

    Here are a few more things I have learned over the years:
    1) People's opinion of you is a projection of their own subjective perception, it doesn't matter what you do somewhere someone will dislike you for something, mostly this kind of hatred stems from jealousy and jealousy stems from insecurity.
    2) Do not give people, their opinions or action the power to control your happiness, Do not rely on external validation.
    3) Be grounded in yourself and be self aware, we can unintentionally do stuff that maybe hurtful or not nice, evaluate your actions and values make it a habit, and don't beat yourself over something mistakes happen learn to apologize, forgive yourself and others.
    4) Learn from the past and move on, I know it's easier said than done but focusing on the present and building a better future is the only logical thing to do.
    5)Manage your stress levels and anxiety. I can not stress this enough being aware of when you need to relax and take a break is very important. Journal, talk to your therapist (if you have one) and friends. Or simply just talk to yourself out loud.
    6) Remember this isn't the end, life can always get better, believe in yourself. 💗

    i'd say, being able to distinguish yourself and your alter ego will make you very powerful and it is very beneficial. but you can also use this to slowly becoming the girl/boy you dream of. if you wanted to glow up (in terms of self and personality), if you wanted to change, this is the right thing for you to do. create an alter ego, it's not being fake, it's becoming the person you desire to be. think about what this person likes, their dislikes, how they act, what would they think if this something happened, what kind of person are they, think of them as a character that is suits to your liking and then be them. be this person you admired, you desired. at one time, you will realized you're just becoming your higher self. because no matter how much you hated yourself, you can't change your taste in person. your alter ego is just another you with a healthy mindset, maybe happier.

    1) Anastasia - lovely
    2) Queen - powerful
    3) Trinity - dangerous
    I am using them interchangeably whenever needed. I changed my entire life in just 1 year. Went from the girl with brutal & extremely cruel traumatic past to someone of power and influence. I keep evolving but you know it's working when you have successfull men making 7-8-9 figures spending their precious time for you, thinking of you highly, wanted to marry you & told you "i've never met someone like you." ❤🎉 This works 💯

    Oh my gosh, I used to do this as a kid all the time with fictional characters. I never knew what it was and even tried searching it up but nothing came up. When I shifted I would feel exactly like them, sometimes it took doing a certain face or not and then bam, Sherlock o’ clock. I did it often with Sherlock and felt like him and wanted to be smart and talk sophisticated like him and eventually I became him, it’s where I picked up a lot of my personality traits of walking with my hands behind my back and looking at little details on nouns. Then there was Hawks’ confidence and cockiness, I loved it so when I shifted into Hawks mode It felt easier to be a little more confident even if it wasn’t fully. I didn’t understand it until now, but I enjoyed doing it, especially in my alone time because I could play a part that wasn’t me for a while and make stories up about these characters every night, pretending to live their lives

When we are clear about it we can ensure we are bringing the higher version out, versus copying another persons “style, confidence, looks” whichever it is, choose to change to become a better version of yourself specifically, and that could take a bit of self exploration.

      So true. She wore wigs because all her natural hair was falling down. She was depressive and took so so much time to have her « Marilyn appareance »

      I find it very disrespectful as well. It feels like they're treating Marilyn/Norma as a romanticized idea rather than an actual human being who had many struggles and was not perfect.
      I still adore Marilyn, and what she accomplished in her life is incredible, but this feels very disconnected from her as a person with emotions.

    • @paigew6707
      @paigew6707 2 місяці тому +8

      I think you missed the point. Marilyn had gotten these surgeries, died her hair, lost weight, etc. and still her personality had an effect on how she was perceived. Her “turning it on” what the switch that got attention. The looks HELPED her obviously, but it was the confidence and aura that got people to react.

    • @CristalClear-nx7ko
      @CristalClear-nx7ko 2 місяці тому +2

      @@paigew6707 I completely agree with you , but I guess her looking the part helped her as well , from her body mannerisms that hid what she perceived as flaws , which were mind-blowing to say the least , to the hair and makeup tips she implemented to highlight her sensuality , it's a whole package, she knew how to perfectly play the "Marilyn Monroe" role , and she needed a visual canvas that suited it. Although Marilyn Monroe embodied that persona because she needed to do , in order to stay relevant in the Hollywood scene , and she did it better than most , and that's why she stood out.

    That's so true...yet. NORMA JEAN DID spend so much money on surgeries as well as tons of makeup to become "Marilyn Monroe"....🤷🏽‍♀️...to become that comfortable with herself to be THEE MARILYN MONROE ❤ she practiced for hours day in and day out to become Marilyn. Period.

    Y’all need to STOP trying to become someone else, and encouraging other girls to think the same way. It’s genuinely sad and empty.
    Learn to admire others without wanting or trying to become like them. Just be who you really are. Not a wannabe.

    First off, love the video, but I tried doing this as well putting a lot of effort into my appearance. But I feel like I just doesn’t have the facial features to channel the vibe/look I want or to just look like an pretty girl☹️ It feel like no matter what I do I’ll always just be forced into a plain Jane/homely archetype (if that make sense) idk I just feel stuck. Does anyone have any advice on what I can do?
