My hero guides are mainly for people learning how to play Dota or for those who want to learn how to play a new hero. I aim to teach people the general concept of how the hero should be played and what makes it unique. I'm a Divine player around 5k and don't claim to be the best at Dota, but I do have enough knowledge and experience to help you learn the basics.

I can agree that Windranger is not a position 5 hero if speak about "perfect DOTA". But public DOTA is not perfect and far from it... WR is just one of the strongest laners in DOTA which helps to secure farm for your carry.
To make it simple. When I pick something like Shadow Shaman I can face pos 3 Viper and pos 4 Dar Willow and there is very little I can do - they will make my life miserable. When I pick WR life is much easier: I have good range, I have 65 damage at level 1, I have windrun to retreat or evade attacks - I right click, right click, right click. If my carry is being jumped on I use shackleshot to stop enemies.
Maybe sounds like a herald strategy but I played multiple times with immortal friends in unranked against other immortals and were we winning comfortably without me dying even once in multiple games.
I am not trying to say that it is the best pick ever. In high mmr ranked DOTA you probably won't be able to find farm to be relevant with such niche pick. But in lower mmr brackets winning your lane while getting kills will make your pick work. And games last long so you will be extremely relevant.

Thanks valve that the S tier was nerfed, still good imo.
