I think you’re going to like switching and operations in HO scale - as for the rail, have you considered code 70? Might be a good compromise - both lighter rail and also reliable.

Interesting concept, if you going to do operations on the single module would you not need a runaround on that module as you have a combination of trailing and facing point switches ?
