10:14 hey thanks so much for the shout out Gabe!! You're really cramming in the full Costa Rican experience. (Though sometimes that experience can involve driving through rivers) 😂🤙
It's an inspiration to see you continuing to do your thing during the pandemic. You remind me that "Excessive caution destroys the soul and the heart because living is an act of courage and an act of courage is always an act of love." -Paul Coelho.
This beach is just to my taste. Tropical forest all around, many beach bars made of wood and reeds, totally relaxed. Soccer on the beach at sunset - directly into my heart! Wonderful video, thanks for posting!
I strongly recommend renting SUVs for the awful roads in CR. It is also not rare to find shortcuts across rivers or creeks. Also, note that in most public spots you will find the famous "wachimanes" (for watchmen) who are unofficial guards that will charge you a 'voluntary' amount of cash for taking care of your car. Usually, 500 to 1000 colones would be fine but some even go as far as defining higher amounts "that you must pay them". Finally here's a list of beaches around that area I recommend: Danta, Dantica, Conchal, Carrillo, Barrigona, Nosara, San Juanillo…

If you are not afraid of rain, you can visit costa rica in low season, everything is cheap in rainy season, hotels go for as low as $10, and beaches are totally empty.
I just come up from working in my basement on a lunch break and see you are on a beach in Costa Rica ! Wow now I feel like .... total crap :) Good to see someone is living it up!
Hi Gabriel, Costa Rica definitely has a lot to offer and appears to be still developing. The coastal beaches soon to be converting to resorts in the first few areas that you venture out to. The near future looks bright for Costa Rica a thriving tourist destination with many other possibilities for other business developments like real estate, hotel, and related business services.
A few tips/info about CR if anyone wants to visit: -If you're going to the Pacific coast, it's better to rent a 4x4. Roads are really bad or you have to cross rivers like the one in the video. I think it's needless to say that you should prepare well beforehand, compare prices and never leave car renting/bookings for last minute, costs will be higher. -Beaches zones are more expensive of course, it doesn't mean that everywhere will be the same. This is a touristic area. -Beaches look "dirty" for many reasons, could be because the sand is dark, it could've been raining, etc. It's not like all beaches are 10/10, and he visited some that are not nice tbh. There are many more so don't judge on what you see on a single video. -Again with booking. What he paid for new year? (I think) He arrived at the place and just took the first offer that came his way the same day. Always look in advance, book in advance! I'll add something if I remember any other thing that might seem important. I'm glad this guy enjoys adventure and understands that traveling is about new experiences, new cultures, to open your mind and see that there's variety in the world, and that it isn't bad just because you're not used to. Respect the countries/cultures where you go fellow travelers.
This video makes me realise how good we have it here in Australia. I live in a big city but I can cycle down to my local beach in 15 minutes. The beach is kilometres long, wide with soft, white clean and unpolluted sand and has very few people on it except on exceptionally hot days at the height of the summer holidays. In all these supposedly exotic locations the beaches are crap in comparison.
Hey Gabe, I think it would be interesting to hear a comparison between Costa Rica and Hawaii now that you have a lot of time in both places. Which one has the more stunning mountains/peaks? How would you compare the rainforests/beaches? The infrastructure? Interestingly enough, Jurassic Park scenes were filmed in both countries. Cheers!
You sure about that? As far as i know none of the films were shot in costa rica. They did consider it at the beginning but due to concerns regarding infrastracfure and perhaps other issues they decided against it and steven the director felt more comfortable filming in hawaii as he had worked there before and knew the place. Of course the story has nothing to do with hawaii and took place on those costa rican islands but the actual filming was done in hawaii.
I'd give Costa Rica 4 out of 10 from what I've seen in your videos. 3 is for the frogs, butterflies and rain forest. Another 2 for the thermal spring hotel. Minus 1 for the prices.
This brought back memories! I've been to Coco and Tamarindo, and stayed a week once in Ocotol. All cool in very different ways. Tamarindo is a big party town and quite expensive - lots of surfers and college kids. Coco seemed more a locals favourite. Ocotol is quiet - great beach bar-restaurant.
Gabriel, you must install to your phone the maps.me app. It’s free, you download the map for whatever country you are visiting when on WiFi, and then you don’t need phone signal or internet or anything, just for it to see the GPS satellite which is free. I use it everywhere. It’s amazing, it has sat nav too, but it also is great for foot pathways that are not on Google Maps.
Gab great video. I travel a lot myself but mainly in the states, have you ever thought about just sleeping in your car I think in many instances you could come out way more cheaper just getting some sleeping materials, finding a safe place to park and camping out. It will save you a lot more money. Just my opinion.
You visited one of the most expensive areas in Costa Rica and it was on the high season. We have to be clear Costa Rica is one of the most expensive countries in Latin America but if you come in low season you can find price really much better than those ones. The Caribbean zone is really beautiful and much more affordable.
Thx for the tour of the Nicoya peninsula, sorry u had to overpay because of the holiday. There's so much more to this country, and at much better prices. I hope you return and explore the Southern Pacific side, even more beautiful and less crowded than Nicoya.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Thanks for these Costa Rican videos Gabriel. It indeed looks surprisingly expensive. The nature though is nice however beaches to me look more attractive in eastern mexico. Have you considered booking a studio apartment for a month? Monthly rentals seem to be cheaper. A lot of digital nomads or remote workers book one place for an extened period of time. And its convenient to have that as a base for work and living while exploring the place without having to pack and move every few days. They also may come with a kitchen where its possible to cook something which may be useful in a country where its expensive to eat outside.
Got to rent a 4x4 in Costa Rica playa Tamarindo is a cool place to go to. $85 a day wow that’s expensive!!! I drove the whole country of Costa Rica with no yahoo maps it’s one of my best experiences of my life. Man it was a lot cheaper then the trip your taking. Love the video!!!
From what I remember, Ocotal had some rocky sections (in the water) in which caution is advised, or at least not going in the water without shoes or sandals. Then again I could be wrong, it's been almost 23 years since the only time I was there.
It is completely overhyped and it is not worth it. Speaking from the point of view of a scuba diver I can tell you it is an absolute and complete rip off..worst and most expensive scuba diving ever. Speaking from the point of view of an average tourist I think you can see all of that for a fraction of the cost in many of the other Central American countries. The people in Costa Rica apparently think they have invented a cure for Ebola or something, they think they can charge you absurd amounts of money for average landscapes and generally worse than average accomodation. Keep Costa Rica, for the same amount of money or even less I can go to the Maldives or Bali.
Crossing a river in Costarica is part of the experience, better rent a 4x4 though, even if it takes long to drive those roads in the forest and explore the beaches, pura vida!
Bon voyage! I was hoping you'd pop in on the Caribbean side...Maybe next time? I wonder where you are off to now🤔 Thank you so much for all these awesome videos from Costa Rica
was actually surprised that you chose going to costa rica instead of to nicaragua. nicaragua has similar beaches and beauty at one third the cost. costa rica used to be cheap until it got over-run with tourists. what i really want to know is how do you find cheap flights since you book so last minute impulsively? look forward to seeing where you are now

You can find cheap flights last minute, especially if you're flexible with the date and destination. Oftentimes a cheap flight is what determines where I go next.
I would definitely go to Costa Rica after all your videos other than the 1st one! Beautiful but expensive. What was that breakfast you had? Looked like a huge plateful of eggs.
What a lovely country Costa Rica. If only they hadn't cut down the trees for dairy farms still it looks great on you tube video 📸☺️ where are You off to next
what a contrast to our covid spoiled New Years day! Happy place, happy people!)) So glad for You! However I would not waste time on filthy looking hotel and slept couple of hours in my super expensive rental car - to be the first on the beach in the morning. Is it illegal there to do so? or not safe?
Bucket List Travellers haha I got you it’s very very laid back there. People don’t get upset and they have actually improved the roads. You can really take your time. It’s one of trips of a lifetime that I had I have now done it three time in different areas. You can just see random water fall pull over and just go swim and have fun. Most hotels I stayed in were $40 to $50 a night it all depends what kind of place you want to to stay in. I would highly recommend it I don’t think you would have a hard time with driving at all. You would absolutely definitely love it I highly recommend it!!! If you go fly into Liberia don’t bother flying into San Jose the capital if you don’t have to. Capital is nice but not what you go to Costa Rica for. Go and Enjoy it’s an absolutely beautiful place with beautiful people!!! Have a great day!!!!
@@OneLove-oj4sz thanks for the info! We're in Nicaragua at the moment, waiting for the land border to open up. I'll be interested to see how different it is over there compared to where we are now 😁
You’ve nailed it. Public transportation in CR unfortunately sucks or is unheard of, specially in rural areas. And if you want to see the best natural spots it takes a 4wd - your average sedan isn’t going to cut it. As a Tico who has traveled places around the globe I wish this was different, the car pileups everywhere are unsightly. But that’s the way it currently is.

What could go wrong?!
@@GabrielTravelerVideos honestly...probably nothing. But seeing electrical wires going from the wall to the shower head. As a person that knows code, and why things are built a certain way .... this looks like zap zap.
That being said, I've used those showers....uncomfortably lol.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos I just utubed......electric shower head.....first thing that came up is "suicide shower" 😂😂😂😂
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Wolters World even has a video.
Keep it lookin cool
Have you been to Jaco yet, but more action there and a few expats live there?
This is life!
Pura vida.
You had issues with your internet and navigation. Maybe you can try offline maps. Google Maps provides this feauter already. Otherwise, I really can recommend HERE We Go, pretty good navigation app! Anyway, thanks for the nice video and beautiful spots!
Thanks for the video
Quick question for ya: Hear much Inglés spoken, where you travelled in Costa? Doesn't sound like it, from the videos ..
