But yes, I love Redcorp. I LOVED Red Daughter as she was my favorite character and I was upset when they killed her off. There was SO much story potential for her, Redcorp and yes, even SuperRedCorp. The possibilities were endless. I fully believe Red Daughter was smitten w/ Lena when they first met...actually I would say she already was before they met just from hearing about her from Lex and reading Kara's diary. I don't use the word "love" loosely but I would say it was love at first sight for Red Daughter when she met Lena. She was all starry-eyed and looked at her w/ such warmth, affection, awe and a hint of longing. I have to say I loved the way Melissa played the scene...ironically she played Red Daughter's first meeting w/ Lena the SAME way she did when Kara first met Lena...starry-eyed, speechless and flustered. I don't know if she played it that way intentionally off script( the dialogue was there on script but her facial expressions, mannerisms and body language probably wasn't as it could be an acting choice on her part) or in character or she didn't mean to play it that way intentionally but whatever the case, her acting choice was a stroke of genius. I thought she was brilliant portraying Kara/Supergirl and Red Daughter and somehow managed to bring something different and unique to those roles and she gave her characters depth and layers. The Russian accent was incredibly accurate and nothing short of BRILLIANT!!! It's music to my ears

Then I read something a journalist who had some inside info. They originally wiped Alex's mind to give a reason for Lena and Kara to grow closer. In season 4, the show had looked into going full Supercorp, this was the most popular part of their fan base and they intended on going all in. They began this by removing Alex as Kara's main support, then by implying Kara's feelings for Lena were so strong, they carried over to Red Daughter. Red Daughter didn't hold back on her infatuation for Lena like Kara did, Melissa had no problems displaying Red Daughter as someone very very into Lena Luthor. The goal was never to kill Red Daughter, she was going to be the plot device they used to get Lena and Kara together and Kara was supposed to tell Lena she was Supergirl on the plain. But then tragedy struck, the higher ups in the WB, DC, and CW said no dice, Kara can't be with a woman. So they scrambled, with no choice but to keep moving on, they chose to end their efforts with Red Daughter by killing her off and they chose to have Lena turn on Kara, going the exact opposite route to where they intended at the beginning of season 4. No surprise, the destruction they did to Lena's character in season 5 is the reason the show fell so far in ratings during that season, even though season 6 ended up with great ratings, the damage done during season 5 insured no season 7.
