In the late 1960s SATA had a pair of D-3s and some Herrons or Doves serving Santa Maria and Terceira. Ponta del Gada was a grass field where cows grazed when not in use. Some Hawker Siddley 748s and other turbo props were tried out. All long range service was on Pan American. TWA, and a once a week service from Funchal on a TAP 727 as well as refueling stops as needed.
The CS-TRC leaving and you go in the TRB. 😁 Can`t wait to fly on SATA`s Q200 in 3 monts again. It`s my fafourite plane of the SATA fleet. Did this flight in 2021 to Horta and Corvo.

Thanks for the history
Nice video! Love the Dash 8s. Shame so many airlines are retiring them

Why DHC stopped producing this plane?
Smaller regional jets are what airlines are using now, turboprops are on their way out but there will still be lots of them around.
Learn to say Açores
lol I’ve heard it so many different ways I don’t know what to say any more
@@flapsnslats Ask the locals. LOL!
I pronounced it the way I heard at the airport from several islanders. I’m sorry if you take issue with that.
@@flapsnslats Guy from the azores here. Here we say Açores but americans normally say Azores. (dont trust the guys from são miguel they say azores)
