Sandi, Don't give up on the second wild flowers painting. It's wonderful!
The English Wildflowers is my favorite❣️
If she is talking about the one with the tree and wildflowers that Sandi said she would paint over, I 100% agree! It's gorgeous 😍
I agree. I love it too. 👍
Hot Diggity. How much fun setting up “I paint everyday”. I love it. It’s so hard to push myself to create on the days when I feel sick. Watching you navigate your way through your reality of experiencing feeling unwell, is always a help for me. Life just works better when drawing or painting happens every day. Thank you for the newest injection of inspiration. I’m glad you’re freaking me out with bothering you. It’s a royal pain to have to do that. I’m entering a season of having to figure things out, and I do believe painting, every day will help me get through it better. So here I go.🖌️🖌️
So glad you enjoyed it!
Love the second wildflower painting! Don’t get rid of it! The mono printing has me thinking of new ideas. Thanks again for your videos. Look forward to them.
You're so productive, it makes my head spin! I'm in peak allergy season (for me) here in Tasmania and it literally feels like someone has displaced my brain with a fog machine and drained all my energy out through the soles of my feet. I'm using the time to prep boards with different types of absorbent ground to see which ones I like best with acrylic ink. I'm always planning the next work, but, man is it hard sometimes to just get up and going. I love how you take a pretty ordinary looking park and turn it into a populated wonderland. Just shows, you don't need the most spectacular reference when you keep your imagination well exercised.
Sandi, for monoprinting, basically flip your process. Put the rigid plate (glass, whatever) face up, drop your paper onto it, then apply pressure with a spoon, baren or whatever, through the back of the paper. You can pick up a corner to see how you’re doing, and then put it down and work over places where not enough has transferred. And try gouache!
Ohhhh great tips!!!
Agreed! She can pick up a barren or a hard plastic brayer at most big box craft stores, they're speedball brand.
Oooh, gouache is absolutely great monoprinted! Also matte paints, although they can dry fast. Good pointers, Jane.
I just wrote about this and then saw your comment. An additional tip is to soak the printmaking paper. You can also try spraying the paper, but sometimes it buckles from uneven wetting. Good tips! Thanks!
So lovely to see that beautiful wildflower painting and hear it was inspired by the footage from my course. It really is a beauty friend!! 😍
Thanks Mel ❤️
I love watching these kind of videos because it gets me excited to paint in my own process. Thank you for sharing these! I love seeing how other artists "paint every day" as every artist sometimes works a day job or not. It's interesting to see.
I'm so glad!
Keep the rabbit in! :D Love, love, love the wildflowers, both of them! Please don't stop on the second one.
Wow, I really loved the wildflowers, totally different from your usual style but incredible. Maybe a new avenue to explore? I loved the one with the sea the best but the one you binned was great too - such depth in the trees. Also really loved the abstract paintings at the end!
her best work in my opinion. she destroys her best work and keeps her more childish style
I always love seeing your art in that big sketchbook! It's kind of making me want to get one ❤
Go for it!
The wild flowers ones !! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🌸🌸 I love them Sandi
Thank you!
I am so happy to watch this. You inspired me to start a sketchbook and paint in it everyday probably over a month or so ago after taking a very very long break of doing anything creative. It was sad to not have art in my life for many years on end because I am a creative. I think I had mentioned before but your videos were such a blessing to me. It was a difficult when starting the sketchbook because paint is a new medium for me and I felt so much pressure and judgement from myself a lot of the time but you really helped me to mentally get out of that for the most part and just have fun. It’s been probably almost 2 weeks since I have painted so seeing a new video from you especially titled “I Paint Every Day”, I am hoping will be another wave of deep inspiration and motivation. Just getting out the paints and playing/having fun is all I hope to do each day. Your videos bring so much joy and comfort 🤍 Thank you Sandi - God bless
I feel like I went on a magic carpet ride in a wonderland of beautiful wild flowers, seas, mountains, quaint coffee shops, and ponds with ducks, birds with cute legs, rabbits, dogs, roller skates, and magical people.
😍
It is amazing what you achieved. You are an inspiration.
I really loved both wild flower paintings.
I lived in Cape Town in South Afica which is renowned for it's wild flowers, fynbos, seas and mountains. You would love it there.
I took something like 55 000 photos and fell in love with photographing macro shots of the wild flowers, and faces people.
As part of a photography course, we had various subjects on different days.
Peoples faces was one. I wasnt too keen, prefering more arty shots of red and green rusted port holes and all sorts in the harbour.
I landed up loving photographing people and peoples faces.
My camera was around my neck constantly.
Now I live in Europe and seeing your paintings of the wildflowers made me cry and bring me so much joy to look at them.
All your art works are beautiful but in this video, the wildflowers scenes spoke to me reminding me of another time.
Thank you for sharing all that you do and I hope by now that you feel well. Waving to you all the way from Germany. 👋🤗💐🌷
Hey all the way in Germany! Thank you for the kind words ❤️
I love the 1st wildflower/coastal painting. You dod Mel proud.
Thank you!!!
Hooray! So so so SO happy to have a new video. You've inspired me to jump back in, as fearlessly as possible, to my art practice and I appreciate you so very much.
Wonderful!
I love how FREELY you use you paint brush & I love it when I paint carefree & happy😊
Thank you so much 😊
Sandi, I absolutely adore the paintings in grey paper! Something about them just feels nostalgic, almost like looking at film somehow, a softness and texture to them. I really love them and want to try it out! I hope your health and all settles so you can feel more your best, thank you again! ❤
-Shaina
I'm so grateful to you for putting in so much effort to film, edit, and share your creative process with us. I find all of your videos so inspiring and calming. Thank you!
Thank you so much!
Playing catch up after nightshifts and it's always a joy to find a Sandi video waiting☺️ I love both of your wildflower paintings, they are beautiful and full of texture. Love your coffee shop and park studies, your collage, your Norway paintings are fun.........I basically just love what you do, it's so uplifting and inspirational💚
Oh thank you!
Love the wild flower paintings ❤
Thank you so much!!
Really love your wildflower paintings very inspiring
Thank you so much 🤗
Sitting in bed with my first coffee of the day & you pop up with such vibrant energy . I love seeing/hearing your process, it's very inspiring. I love the flowers. Thank you for sharing your world.
Yay, thank you!
There are so many things I enjoy and am inspired by while watching your videos but, I think my favourite thing is, hearing you talk about what you love about your own work. It’s wonderful to hear you speak so kindly and positively about what you like about your paintings. A great lesson we can all learn from ❤
I'm so glad!
I was thinking the same thing. It reminded me of when I did a photography course. We would have to send photos to our teacher and we need to critique them by say what we liked.
Our teacher would say what he liked and where we could improve the photo by doing abit of this and that.
That way we learn in a positive way, and are not discouraged by criticism which is harsh.
😀
I'm always so excited when your latest vid comes out. I just love seeing your paintings. Thankyou.
I always swatch colours when I don't know what to do or stucked too, I think colours have a major importance in my life in general ❤ amazing paintings Sandi as always!
Though its a departure from your norm, I love your wildflower painting. Might be my favorite!
Gelli plates are great for mono printing with acrylic paint x
I’ve considered Gelli plates. Might get one
I love all your
Drawings with faces so inspiring Sandi! Wildflowers, owls and the painting with the people dressed in old fashioned 1900s fashion is amazing too!!
Thank you so much!
I finally had a chance to watch, Sandi! That was great! I used to be a printmaker, but about 20 years ago, so hopefully my memory serves me well! I think if you use actual printmaking paper (thin or thick) and soak it in water, then sort of drain on a towel and/or pat dry, then lay it face down on top of the painted substrate rather than the other way around, and rub with the back of a wooden spoon, it will transfer better. You can also do this with watercolor and/or gouache, even water soluble crayons. It doesn’t have to be oil, although oil has a beautiful finish. Also you mentioned that you had made silkscreens, but I think you meant to say monotypes. You said monotypes earlier; I think it was just a glitch, which happens to me, too. :-) xo
I'm really enjoying this series so far. I really loved the abstracts on grey papewr on the end. I love the textures. My favourite painting in this video was the one you did with the wild flowers and sea. I loved the details and texture. I found it very inspiring. Thanks for sharing x
Glad you like them!
Great video.
I like the _colour Swatch_ page you made of all the paints you had.
The outdoor artwork is fab.
Excellent sketches of people whilst your waiting at the _doctor's office/_
&
The reverse printing/ reverse copying technique was Very interesting (you made an illustration on a separate glass/ And paper) and then you wetted both the sketchbook page and the external image and pressed onto the wet sketchbook page for a mirror transfer picture
Keep sharing. :)
Hi Sandi, I really wanted to take a couple of minutes to thank you for sharing your journey and work with us. You really influenced my art in the most positive ways and I will forever be thankful for my favorite artist Tijana Lukovic to introduce you over on her substack. 😌 I’ve learned so many things from you and I feel like I finally (after all those years) broke the curse of not being able to keep up a sketchbook practice. I sit down every day with my sketchbook and my other art supplies and just play with them. And it makes me so happy! 🥰 I love this new format where you show us what you paint every day and just talk about how it goes. It’s very inspiring.
Can’t thank you enough. ❤ Have a nice weekend, Sandi. And see you in the next video.
Way to go with keeping at it and thank you for the kind words 😭🥰❤️
Thank you 😊
I was reflecting on your wildflower paintings, your concern with being 'tight', and your joy in being super abstract. It's so interesting to me that you have such an incredible talent for rendering more realistic (yet not, because they sing with your unique vision) paintings, yet resist so hard. I wonder if it would be easier to allow the both/and approach to painting rather than the this/not that approach? Just a thought from an admirer of your work as well as your joy and courage in the face physical challenges. God bless. Oh...and love that folk art painting-so joyful and unique!
Sandi. This is from those sketch books Beechmore….I’ve been telling you about. Dang. They should pay me lol. Honestly I really think you will like them except it’s a cream ivory. Not a bright white but not a toned paper. I have one in every size. The huge one is really worth it. I just ordered the square. But they come in your favorite sizes. Anyway they posted this on someone’s question and I thought it would appeal to you.
Our sketchbooks are crafted with a smooth finish paper that closely resembles hot press paper. This surface is exceptionally well-suited for detailed applications using pen, ink, and markers, while also accommodating other mediums such as pencil and light watercolor.
I still love your wildflowers! It's blissy atmospheric! And your new wildflowers is gorgeous! Arrrgh I'll cry if you destroy it!
sorry you have had some rough days Sandi. Always enjoy your you tubes. You give a lot. Make sure to take care of yourself and take a break if you need. to. Mama bear here. :-) Your landscape have a lot of the energy of John Marin. He was a big influence for me when I was young. My work looks nothing like that now though. Art is exciting and a constant learning process. You are so open and generous and brave sharing . Its why people love you.
Thank you so much!
Sandi, I watch all the time and learn so much. I love your art, and originally described it to my sister as abstract, loose folk art. Go figure, the folk art painting you made here is one of my favorites!!!
I have been experimenting with printmaking for some time and have such a similar experience! I finally learned printmaking paper has too much tooth. You're recommended Canson XL Bristol Smooth or a good cardstock works. And I needed a Gelli plate that is soft, to get a better transfer to a harder surface. I laughed knowing what was coming next...exactly my results! Keep persisting, you are so close! Now if I don't get as much transfer as I want, I just go in with other media, such as acrylic marker/paint, colored pencils. So much fun.
Thank you so much for your generously sharing with all of us here on youtube! Your faith and genuineness radiates out from your work and relationships. I am constantly blessed and often share conversations with my sister about "Sandi's latest"! You bring Jesus' joy to the internet. Love and Blessings!
Thanks for the tips and I laughed that you knew “the end of the story” with my print making 😂
Fab, your windy painting looks windy!! Really enjoy your joyful appraisals of your work. Thank you
The highs and lows I felt in getting to know you and your art when you discussed the New England wildflowers! lol I was like, "Wow, I love this side of Sandi, it feels like what I'm into making! Neat." Then you said, "But I got bored..." Me: 😭
Finally subscribing because I love how you explain your artist process, and just being a human! But our art tastes are different, and that doesn't bother me at all. haha
for some reason I always read the title as "I Paint Every Day (So You Don't Have To)" 😂
😂😂😂🫶🏻
I love everything. The Dr. Office sketches are interesting. I hope you feel better soon. I am also dealing with allergies. I just do the best I can. Hang in there.
I loved this one even better than the last one (last I paint every day) because I really enjoy when you talk us through your thinking process. It’s fun to see how even ‘failed’ projects add to the succes of future projects. I’m the same with printing techniques, love the idea of printmaking and I have made some that worked but it doesn’t hold my attention as painting does. Thanks for another lovely Friday night ☺️
Glad you enjoyed it 🤗
What a creative idea…paint a swatch then make it into a face or something else! Wowza!
Terrific work, Sandi. I especially liked the ones you did of the park - all the interesting people and activities. As usual, your landscape inspired paintings are so beautifully "Sandi".
Thanks Ann!!!!
Such fun and inspiration, Sandi! Your videos always make me smile. Blessings!
I’m glad to hear that ❤️
I’m very late, but with the glass plate you could put the paper on top of the glass instead of the glass on the paper… that way you can apply the pressure on the paper instead of on the glass :) love everything you do as always ❤
This is one of the best art inspiring videos I’ve watched in a while and that’s saying something ! Thank you for posting this! I appreciate the effort gone in to making this video and it’s really resonated with me♥️
Wow, thank you!
19:54 that’s a fantastic painting.
Yes....I would purchase that one 👍
@@northernlassie2755 too late. she’s destroyed it. so annoying. it was the best work in the video. A more professional style
Ohhhh wow love those landscapes and flower art they are my favourite up to now xx stunning 🥰
Thanks so much!!!
I have NEVER been this early holy cow! So excited for this, immediately grabbed some tea to tuck in ❤
🤗🤗🤗
🙏❤️💫🫶 Sandi ~ Thank you for the wonderful inspiration! You are such a sweet awesome individual!!!!!
You are so welcome
Those Norway paintings are gorgeous, Sandi! I loved watching Emily’s stories from her trip to the Arctic. Also, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you do any kind of printmaking, but you knocked it out of the park with these ones! I love the perfectly imperfect effect of mono prints, especially the texture of the landscape. So much is left to chance with printing, and it’s such a fun process. Hope to see more of that from you! 😍
Oh thank you!
I love your artworks. It's very like you are. Very opening Bright colors and bold brushstrokes. Love 💕
DONT CHUCK IT! It’s wonderful!
I already painted over it 😳
I don’t know if anyone else is seeing this or if I’m crazy, but in the close-up shot of the wildflower/coastal scene painting on the table, there is a 3-D effect going on. I know you’ve shown it before, and obviously with the foreground, middle ground, and background there is a sense of depth, but in the view of it here, it’s almost like wearing 3-D glasses. I don’t know what it is about it.
Ohhh that’s neat! Means I really got some depth I there 🤗
I think I see what you mean!
can you time stamp that
@@paulwoodford1984 Sorry I’m not sure how to put a time stamp (maybe it happens automatically when I type the time.) In any case I would say it starts around 18:05 and especially a few seconds later as the camera pans across it. I see this when I’m viewing it up close on my iPad, but not so much watching it across the room on a TV.
Love watching you experiment! Totally understand about floundering. Had to work through that season/stage also. Ugh. No fun.
I LOVE your mug!
Thinking the same thing ❤
Когда я смотрю на ваши прекрасные абстрактные рисунки красками, произаодящие впечатление неряшливости, то чувствую сожаление за то, что сама не получаю удовольствие от такого способа рисования
Yahoo, a Sandi video!! Oh happy day!!
The painting at 18:05 is amazing! 👏❤
I really like how those monoprints came out, especially the landscape one!
Thank you!!!!
❤❤❤My way of dealing with those times when the muses go on vacation is by doing something that requires precision and planning. Pencil studies of various objects, or even a pattern design always does the trick. I also like to look at other artists and copy a work so I can play with different color palettes or composition or style. I like the idea of making color swatches, but I would go a step further and use the color swatching time to fill in a pattern design so I can see how different colors react next to each other in the context of a painting/drawing. That folk art book is awesome and I would definitely copy some of the works in there to swatch my colors or come up with different color palettes. As always, your videos are chock full of fun, inspiration, and great information. ❤❤❤
Miss seeing you paint a picture, maybe a future video would include you painting. Loved your still life’s with the lion or alligator under the table. Those were fun. 🙋🏼♀️🌻🇨🇦
Yea, I LOVE the park painting❣️❣️. I love your art🩵🩵🩵🩵🦋🦋🦋🦋
Thank you! 🤗
So inspiring to see all you do! If/when you get the monoprint urge again, or for anyone else -I took a class at the Art Student’s League on oil monoprinting a few years ago. We used glass or plexi, oil paint and a wooden spoon also. The differences: we used linseed oil (maybe to keep the paint pliable longer), and put very thin mulberry paper on top of the plate and rubbed like crazy. Thicker paper didn’t work well, and it helped to mist the thinner paper with water. I also remember that we had to work super fast. I second the commenter who recommended the Geli plate - easier! (And you go on enjoying your tea!) ❤
Great tips!
Wow Sandi, you are so busy, love your energy and the paintings are so fun. Im going to watch this again as you put so much time and love into this video I feel I have to consume it again as Im sure Ive missed things. I was freaking out when you were pressing on that glass. Be careful people with glass from picture frames. Usually really cheap and they can explode. Sorry had to put that in there. I love your color palettes and the muted colors. They are so moody. You have inspired me to make some moody colors. Thanks again Sandi, I so appreciate all the time and work that goes into putting these videos together. So love them all! Ive been so tired over the week that Ive hit the wall again
Gwen I didn’t even think about that - good point 😳
Love this and love day two painting on board ! Only just started the video THANK YOU
I just love your creations. ❤
Thank you!
Love the collage painting
Wow 😍
Thanks Sandi, for the inspiring video and for showing us so much of your work. I love the paintings of all the ‘random’ items and figures. You have such a great eye for composition and colours….when I try something like this it turns out to be such a mess!😂
Love this vid and look forward to a new series!
you're such an inspiration to me...thank you, Sandi ☺🎨🖼
Thank you 🥰🤗🤗🤗
Love your studio! So colourful. 💖
Omg the big collage painting wonderful
Thank you Cathy!
As soon as I say something like I draw or paint every day, the other things will start getting in the way. So I refrain from making these statements any more.🙏🧡
Sandi !! Always making my Friday much more colorful and fun !!!
❤️❤️❤️
You Inspire me Sandi. Thank you 😊 🎨🖼👍💯
i LOVE the collage painting! it's magical.
Thank you!
Haha, I am Norwegian and I could immediately see that your paintings was from Norway, before you told us 😄Really cool! 🥰
Ohhhhh awesome!
I really love this video! Thank you
I just wanted to say thank you Sandi for another great video. You are my all time favourite UA-camr🎉🎉🎉 I look forward to every video you make and always get excited when a new one is posted. I know how long it takes to edit and film videos, its soooo much work so thank you for sharing your process with us. Its always a joy to watch🥰♥️xxx
Thank you so much!!
So so ENJOYABLE 😊😊😊😊
I love your style SOOOO MUCH
Awe - thanks ❤️
Really enjoyed seeing your work throughout this video Sandi, it's like your work got more abstract as the time went on! I actually quite liked the prints you created, they were fun! Hope you're feeling much better now health wise! ❤
I am feeling better - thank you!
Just discovered you; Love your youtube format and your painting style.🤩
i love your channel ...thanks so much for the inspiration 🙏🏼
& the daily ins & outs of the arteeests grind....👍🏼💋💖
What a wounderful Video Sandi. ❤
Thank you!!!
This was a great post. The printing session made me laugh the way you narrated it. I also love love love the dreaming painting with the rabbit, lemons, tabletop with the man and woman portrait in the upper right corner. Have you named that painting yet? I wish you would do a print of that! I love the eye of the rabbit. Just great stuff Sandi! ❤
I have named it but can’t remember what I named it right now - it’s up in my website I’m pretty sure
You should try a Geli plates it would go with your style of painting and with what you are tying with transferring.
I’ve been thinking of getting one
Thank you so much Sandi for another wonderful video full of inspiration! Xox
Praying for your health! 💗🙏💗
Thank you!!!
Hi Sandi, I know you have shown us soft pastels many times, but is it possible for a tutorial type? Maybe a painting using them mainly? Like at what stage you use them, what other medium you use under and on top? Please and thank you….or if you have a class I will be glad to pay!…also, by the way….a coffee shop video of the whole session, would be magnificent!! And……did you ever get a beechmore sketchbook? I know you will love them…smooth paper! Also I’m not sure you have heard of her, but I believe you will love the artist on YT named @Gaynor Pattle. She’s wonderful….you and her are my favorites…
I use soft pastels a good bit in my online class Taking Notes In The Landscape (I think I even use them in my bird class too - just can’t remember 100%)
@sandihester I will sign up immediately!!
I love your art style
Your videos give me a lot of inspiration!! Thank you for sharing your journey!!!🤗
I'm so glad!
I love you. You are incredibly inspirational!!! Have you ever thought of making your own paint brushes from nature's goodness?! I use tree branches, flowers and vegetables too! Thank you for sharing your beautiful soul. I hope you feel better.
Sandi, the paintings on the grey paper: A winner! Really, really nice.
I love them too! Thank you!
Loved the video , love your "style" - I do my artwork every day as well and can feel the joy you get from creating ( like it's in our blood ) 🎉🎉🎉
Definitely in my blood!
The prints R ur best work to date.
So sad when artists spend time complaining ... we all have issues but not interested in others ... 😢. Theo had so many letters from Vincent who had issues and ...... spoke more about the art mission. Stay healthy and excercise, eating from organic foods, Bobby Parrish free app has great insight on good food and smiling helps.😊
The values R not showing up, dark against lite helps to 3D any arrangement of subjects.
Enjoy watching the adventures U take no matter how short / long a distance from ur home. U have an opportunity 2 become a great developer...Honing in on ur techniques. Uniqueness is key. Like that U study ur favorite, or new 2 U artists... books R so cool, ? Sometimes a different medium as in pottery, ceramics, textile, clay, jewelry, leads to the right path to understanding what's needed 😊 😀 Ann,Florida fan
You might love jelly printing! I feel like it will work for your art style and materials that you use❤😊
I’ve thought about that. Might get one
Sorry to hear you weren't well Sandi 😔 hope you are feeling better today. I loved your park paintings ❤ especially the bridge and the person with the roller skates ⛸ (very timely wimely because my sister and I went to Phoenix Park in Dublin this eve and there were quite a few children on roller skates!). I didn't have time to sketch but I took lots of photos. I look forward to watching your vlog posts on Fridays and you always inspire me ❤
P.S. your colour swatches are a work of art in themselves Sandi 😊👌
Thank you!!!!❤️❤️
Loved the video. Ty! So so many good ones but I think one of my favs was the folk art. I think it work work very well in a square format also. Feel better soon. 😊
Oh thank you!
