I’m gonna be honest, when I hear the live play through for the 10 minute song all I could think of for a title was “in their eyes” don’t know why so take that as you wish
Well, to be fair, what is written in 10 seconds and 1 minute is not a song. It's just a short part that can be used to make a song (in 1 hour or longer).
My heartfelt thanks to Julie Marie for submitting her personal story which provided the inspiration for the 10 hour piece. It takes a lot of courage to share one's experience about past abuse.
He is a man without emotional response towards darkness but yet met with the sanity of one in the dark. (People please don’t murder me for this comment)
Seeing that nobody replied yet, I will take the honor of being your first reply! So when beginning to look at the story, I remembered hearing a similar story to the one in the captions: It was about a boy who struggled to understand himself. He couldn't know what he likes, what he dislikes, or what he even is. However, all he knew is that he didn't want anyone to know how confusing he is, so he acts like the class clown. He managed to convince everyone that he was a happy, and humorous guy who makes everyone have a happy time. However, his happiness ended when a new transfer student arrived. That student saw through his disguise, and fear corrupted the class clown. He didn't want everyone to know how different he actually is. He tried to make the transfer student think otherwise. He continued acting happy and being the class clown, however, nothing seemed to work. The transfer student was basically the one who took away his happiness, while the boy still remained hopeful in persuading him of his fake identity; being obsessed.
Geeze man. I just came here on the algorithm I guess, this was really intense. Really really good, but man, that was a lot of feels from just having watched a wood working episode on sharpening a card scraper lol. Am definitely subscribed, thank you.
Could you do a tragic song? Where a father disowns his only son and the son falls into a deep depression... then once a glimpse of hope arrives he reaches almost this suspense where this will make or break him, then eventually that glimpse of hope fade and he almost is in this lost purgatory until he finally ends it and dies from lack of happiness or hope
"Imprisoned Soul" got me. I was doing so well with not crying but then the piano started playing and I became a wreck. My highest respect to Julie Marie for getting out of that situation. You are an inspiration.
Him: my goal here is to just create something that sounds kind of depressing, be like devoid of any kind of positivity or Happiness. Also him: *smiles while he says it*
Imprisoned Soul definitely takes my number 1 spot. after giving it a listen without the story telling first, I could still for the most part understand the emotions in the music. The ten second one put up a good fight for what it was worth though haha
I've only been able to listen to "Imprisoned Soul" all the way through once. ='( It's a great piece, but I can't stand the feelings. (My deepest respect goes to Julie Marie who experienced it and freed herself). "Total Isolation" still leaves me with an oppressive feeling. I think the ten minute should be called a walk through the cemetery because its calm at the start but the wind starts blowing and you hear like voices and as it blows and you hear voices you get uneasy and anxious and when it gets the fastest and loudest is when your super freaked out and your running around in fear of the things around you and its dark and foggy
Wow! Total isolation is so awesome! I want to have a midi file of that so I could add in some more instruments and vocals, do you think you could send me a midi file? Pretty please? How is no one in the comments talking about the accidentally brutal but true words he gave about being in and leaving an abusive relationship? "You didn't win. You just didn't lose." It's such a simple thing he throws out while considering how to write, but the truth stands so well. An abusive relationship is a nightmare, and just because you're free from it, doesn't mean your free from its effects. You survived your own personal piece of hell to continue living... but that doesn't mean you won. It's brilliant in its accidental simplicity and so extremely accurate.

10 minutes dark song: You are walking through a forest in the dead of night, the moon just shy of dissappearing behind the clouds, barely seeing in front of your nose but the shadows cast by the ancient trees that watch over you like silent giants, yet they do not offer you any comfort under the cold breeze. your feet hesitate and shake at every step as your breath fogs your glasses, griping tightly your backpack as you hear the sounds of the forest. You are so close to escaping. Just keep going, you're gonna make it! Your jaw hurts by how hard you are clenching your teeth, but you ignore it. You're so close. The light will appear soon, the other end of the forest will appear and I shall be free! You said to yourself as you don't notice the glowing eyes watching you from the dark...
1 hour song should be called “The Soul’s Requiem” because I think it sounds like a requiem and because it’s dark something like “the soul” should fit with the “dark” theme
the 10 min song sounded like the main character was fighting the villain, and once they defeated said villain, with their dying breath the villain revealed that they were being controlled by someone the protagonist knew, and that the villain was in fact their best friend from childhood who had gone missing over 5 years ago, and so the protagonist realizes that they just killed their best friend, and becomes depressed, unable to get the scene of their best friend dying in their arms out of their head.

Marsy's Tips for getting into the mood on a budget, if you don't have a way to just dim the lights, you can turn the lights off and light a candle or two. Gives an effect of being mostly in darkness, and you get the bonus of a little bit of inconsistent lighting from the candle's flickering and some pretty unsettling shadows around the room.
"I know why the caged bird sings," in music. Your music has love and longing whether you intend it or not.. The sound of sadness you create is palpable. I loved all these pieces, You even named it: "This imprisoned soul finally breaks free."

this is probably the first time I ever has shed a tear to music. Damn this really goes deep. Great job though, amazing work. A nice way to transform a story to music
The last song, Imprisoned Soul, is so sad. I don't easily cry, but I couldn't help it. It was so sad. I can't imagine how much pain Julie went through. I feel so bad for her. The man who abused her deserved that. He deserved worse. It does sound harsh when I type that, but if you think about what he did, it was horrible, and just imagine how much pain she had to deal with. If you turn on captions you can hear her story. It's truly horrible.
"Oh, you think darkness is your ally. But you merely adopted the dark; I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't see the light until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but BLINDING! The shadows betray you, because they belong to me! I will show you where I have made my home while preparing to bring justice. Then I will break you."

You compel every single emotion I could think of to describe a situation like that. I don’t know if you’ve ever been in only like that; I haven’t but I feel like I have because of this song. I love how you put all of your effort into a project, compose as magnificent as this and then play it as you wrote it. You are a brilliant person Mr. Lionel. When I have the money, I’d very much like to shake your hand.
total isolation gives me suuuuch specific vibes tbh, it sounds really good! it's a nice night out with friends. joking, laughing, having some fun. one of them starts talking about the 'creepy' cave up ahead, and you, still on a high, decide to go with them. when you approach it... it seems normal, but off, somehow. weird vibes, or maybe just cowardice? and then you hear it. behind you. you run far into the cave, splitting off from your friends in the process, panicked, startled, and having a feeling that you were right. looking behind, you expect to see your friends, but you don't. you couldn't have ran that far, right? you can't hear the either, so you start calling out. maybe if you walk back the way you came, there might be the exit? it's worth a shot, anyways. minutes turn to hours, hours turn to days, and soon enough you realise. you've doomed yourself. you were the one who ran in. who split off from the group. who made it so far that there wasn't even a hope of getting back. you brought this upon yourself. as the years pass by, never aging, never dying, you start to come to terms with your new life. it's cold, damp, and lonely, with not even the eventuality of death to soothe you. you're isolated now. any hummanity you one had is gone. how long has it been since you've seen someone else, you wonder aloud, wandering the twisting corners of your prison. everything looks the same, so for all you know you've been wandering in circles. day after day. week after week. month after month. year after year. slowly going *mad.*
that last song was really something else. the music that went so well with the perfectly written story. it almost brought me to tears. that was insane good job!!
You literally made me cry with "imprisoned soul"....knowing the story behind and reading the captions you added to understand the parts made it even more tragic and powerful. It feels kinda wrong to say that this piece turned out so amazing given the circumstances of the story it is based on, but wow. Such an emotional and powerful piece :o
I am absolutely in tears by the end. I wasn't expecting this. Many many many experiences in my past coming back. I'm sure this is a piece of musical expression many can relate to. Thank you for making it, thank you for telling her story and honouring the emotion so well. Fantastic 💛
Ten minute dark song: Unsettling Thoughts The reason why I chose that name is because I felt like I could connect in the song that way. Sometimes when I'm really stressed or overwhelmed my thoughts tend to go really dark, and the ten minute song sounded almost exactly like how it feels when I go through those periods. Love your vids btw
2:19 This sounds like a tune that plays in a JRPG as the main characters's best friend/love interest is killed by the villain, and the screen fades out, leaving you to ponder on your failure to save her.
Until halfway through it all sounds more calm than sad. Like sitting in your room with your eyes closed, waiting for the mail or the boiler to finish your breakfast consisting of a cup of coffee with oatmeal poured inside because you ran out of milk the other day and don't want to go shopping again this week. I sometimes set up my old keyboard and start playing some augmented chords and simple harmonies. I can't play very well and i can't play fast, but it works for me as far as darkness goes. I get that a lot of these techniques you were using are somewhat popular in genres considered "dark", but the timbre is the key; A piano ist just too warm so sound even remotely non-boring in these repetitve pieces. Darkness is timbre and absence of living melodies.
,.,., 4k-2h This was amazing, great impressions in both the 1h and 10h versions, they both sent an immense number of feelings. The "struggle" section left me speechless. Thanks Lionel, thanks Julie.

your feet hesitate and shake at every step as your breath fogs your glasses, griping tightly your backpack as you hear the sounds of the forest.
Thanks... Now I can't sleep...
I wish all of these were on Spotify Bc I love how much emotion is put into each piece and how much emotion you can feel from the music
Lionel: "If you enjoy the video, please consider subscribing"
Lionel 0.5 seconds later "eNjOy ThE vIdEo"
*insert angry pingu meme here*
I got the feels at the "You destroyed me" part. You captured the emotions so well! Beautiful!
1 hour song should be called “The Soul’s Requiem” because I think it sounds like a requiem and because it’s dark something like “the soul” should fit with the “dark” theme
"where there is lught there is no darkness"
Shadows, which appear only if an object is illuminated: *Am I a joke to you?*
Lionel: What do you think
The 10 minute song sounded like it could be in one of the Fate animes.
the 10 min song sounded like the main character was fighting the villain, and once they defeated said villain, with their dying breath the villain revealed that they were being controlled by someone the protagonist knew, and that the villain was in fact their best friend from childhood who had gone missing over 5 years ago, and so the protagonist realizes that they just killed their best friend, and becomes depressed, unable to get the scene of their best friend dying in their arms out of their head.
I was also thinking of composing a song,I'm making a soft and mind relaxing song,on a phone..
What a great birthday gift it is, to find this gem of a channel. The last one made me break down into tears, and it was just what I needed in my life.
What software did you use? I’m considering writing my own (and maybe submitting) my piece. I’m currently using Musescore 3, but I find it somewhat limiting.
I think Sibelius
Damn that last song almost had me in tears the song combined with the lyrics in the captions just had me going it was absolutely beautiful thank you for that wonderful masterpiece
Pls do a song about my past story it would make me feel better it’s ok if you don’t tho
So I got manipulated by people online that’s what happened basically and I didn’t know how to get out of there grip and then I met a girl online she pretended to be my long lost sister and all started crumbling down at this point and 1 day she got hacked and then I said she was a hacker herself and she said I will handle this and she made everything worst I hade to tell my dad bc the hacker said he was in front of the house he was not tho and I had to give my phone to my dad and he found out si was manipulated by man and woman online and we talked and then every thing got better but my dad and my mom were always fighting and I pretty much got depression from that and now I still live with my parents and they still fights but it’s getting better and again pls do a song out of my story plssss and love your vid btw
Wow
Marsy's Tips for getting into the mood on a budget, if you don't have a way to just dim the lights, you can turn the lights off and light a candle or two. Gives an effect of being mostly in darkness, and you get the bonus of a little bit of inconsistent lighting from the candle's flickering and some pretty unsettling shadows around the room.
everytime he says da dada you know he’s going to make something spectacular
"Total isolation" manage to conjure up my emotional states everyday for 12 years and counting.
It's actually eerie to listen to for me..
Thank you.
it is just a song. it is just a song. it is just a song. it is just a song iam not craying
"I know why the caged bird sings," in music. Your music has love and longing whether you intend it or not.. The sound of sadness you create is palpable. I loved all these pieces, You even named it: "This imprisoned soul finally breaks free."
Challenge: write a song that doesn't sound like an anime song.
Omgg frrr all of them sound anime to me, I’m glad I’m not the only one feeling thsi way XD
If youre weeb enough all piano you never heard before sounds like it came from anime, all japanese song sounds like intro or outro of an anime. I know it cause thats how i feel all the time.
Anime music derives from neoclassical music not the other way around :/
...than play it revert and get a cool opening :-D
Everything's an anime song if you're brave enough
Total isolation is definitely my favorite. Absolutely beautiful
The darkest song but with colorful lights, yeah!
I absolutely Fell in love with total Isolation. Don’t feels dark at all for me, more like Full of hope. You‘re brilliant.
me after listening to the 10 sec dark song: Uhhhhhhh :|
me after listening to the 1 min dark song: Great! :)
me after listening to the 10 min dark song: Woah! :D
me after listening to the 1 hour dark song: 100% AMAZING!!! THIS MADE ME CRY!!! ;D
me after listening to the 10 hour dark song: "Unbelievable" **Explodes**
this is probably the first time I ever has shed a tear to music. Damn this really goes deep. Great job though, amazing work. A nice way to transform a story to music
You should call the 10 minute song:
"Tears of Secrecy"
Imprisoned soul really got me.
Lovely piece and great video
What kind of anime character are you
@@raphaeldahdah2430 The quote is from the dark knight trilogy. Bane tells it to Batman while they are fighting and proceeds to beat the crap out of him.
This is my favorite series on UA-cam I clicked even before I read the title
am I the only one who thought calming instead of dark 😀 and smh the imprisoned soul stir something in my heart tht idek what and when does tht something exist sjsjsj
You NAILED it on "Inprisoned Soul"
1 minute song was really good, sounds like it would be in a movie
You compel every single emotion I could think of to describe a situation like that. I don’t know if you’ve ever been in only like that; I haven’t but I feel like I have because of this song. I love how you put all of your effort into a project, compose as magnificent as this and then play it as you wrote it. The little twists in your other videos that are a surprise shout out to a deserving person. The extra money you use to bring people along on your ride to massive success. You are a brilliant person Mr. Lionel. When I have the money, I’d very much like to shake your hand.
I thought dark music meant like horror music or something, not sad and emotional ;-;
total isolation gives me suuuuch specific vibes tbh, it sounds really good!
it's a nice night out with friends. joking, laughing, having some fun. one of them starts talking about the 'creepy' cave up ahead, and you, still on a high, decide to go with them. when you approach it... it seems normal, but off, somehow. weird vibes, or maybe just cowardice?
and then you hear it.
behind you. you run far into the cave, splitting off from your friends in the process, panicked, startled, and having a feeling that you were right. looking behind, you expect to see your friends, but you don't. you couldn't have ran that far, right? you can't hear the either, so you start calling out. maybe if you walk back the way you came, there might be the exit? it's worth a shot, anyways. minutes turn to hours, hours turn to days, and soon enough you realise.
you've doomed yourself.
you were the one who ran in. who split off from the group. who made it so far that there wasn't even a hope of getting back. you brought this upon yourself.
as the years pass by, never aging, never dying, you start to come to terms with your new life. it's cold, damp, and lonely, with not even the eventuality of death to soothe you. you're isolated now. any hummanity you one had is gone. how long has it been since you've seen someone else, you wonder aloud, wandering the twisting corners of your prison. everything looks the same, so for all you know you've been wandering in circles.
day after day.
week after week.
month after month.
year after year.
slowly
going
*mad.*
Pov your looking for Julie comment
that last song was really something else. the music that went so well with the perfectly written story. it almost brought me to tears. that was insane good job!!
The 1 hour song has some interstellar vibes
Yeaaa i was about to mention it as well, the first notes sound almost the same ! Cool music tho
I like how, even after the "escape", the walking notes are still present.
How to make dark songs :
1. Become a death metal band.
2. Profit.
Ta..ta ta.....tatata......TAAAAAAAAAA
You didn't win or lose, you survived...and that's what matter the most, above all else.
I am absolutely in tears by the end. I wasn't expecting this. Many many many experiences in my past coming back. I'm sure this is a piece of musical expression many can relate to. Thank you for making it, thank you for telling her story and honouring the emotion so well.
Fantastic 💛
The last song gave me chills
Ten minute dark song: Unsettling Thoughts
The reason why I chose that name is because I felt like I could connect in the song that way. Sometimes when I'm really stressed or overwhelmed my thoughts tend to go really dark, and the ten minute song sounded almost exactly like how it feels when I go through those periods. Love your vids btw
2:19
This sounds like a tune that plays in a JRPG as the main characters's best friend/love interest is killed by the villain, and the screen fades out, leaving you to ponder on your failure to save her.
Listening to the 1 hour one gave me inspiration for a story, so thanks for clearing up my writer's block
,.,., 4k-2h
This was amazing, great impressions in both the 1h and 10h versions, they both sent an immense number of feelings. The "struggle" section left me speechless.
Thanks Lionel, thanks Julie.
I think that this is actually so good! it deserves more attention though
