Hi, Evan and Rebekah! I am so glad I found this video today. It’s interesting to see how the farm looked before all the building started. Y’all have come a long way.
Wow you’ve come a long way in just 5 years. Especially considering you both have jobs away from home. Congratulations to the both of you! I wish nothing but the best as your well thought out plans continue to unfold!!!
I've followed you guys for a couple of years. I probably binge watched every video a couple years ago, but its interesting to look back again and see which plans stayed the same and were followed through on, and which plans changed. You guys have come a long way.
We have 30 acres, and built our homestead in 2011. One thing we we should have done was plant privacy barriers immediately between us and land we do not own. We now have several neighbors -- one who positioned their house to point directly at our house. My brother's land which was out in the sticks when he bought the land now has a gigantic subdivision going up behind him and to one side -- which shows you need to be pretty far out of major population areas or they will surround you.
You are living every man's dream by living in a country atmosphere. I admire you for this. As your obstacles arise, face them as a challenge to learn and move onward. I wish you and your family a long and happy life on the homestead. Great plans and a great video. From an admirer in Texas.
Looking back is always an interesting experience 😉 As you know, plans are always changing. We enjoy watching hard working young folks like y'all making your dreams come true.
Oh my, my imagination ran wild with your pond. I can see chinampa with all kind of perennials trees, fruit trees, nuts, willows, etc... in your pond...very beautiful.
Just seeing this for the first time. Seems like your vision is coming together. I’d like to see another overview of the property as it is today. Thanks.
I've been watching you guys for quite a while now. This video just came across my feed. It's pretty amazing how close to your plan everything turned out. Congrats on your big 100k subs.
I hope your planes work out. Do not get discourage, if every thing does not go as plan, it will take a lot of work to achieve this. . Great drone footage of your homestead.
Hi. I found you through your frugal living tips, but subscribed once I saw you were doing homesteading. I love how you are laying out your property design.
Great homestead . Love the pond! I would cut back the trees closes to the pond. Because of the build up of leaves in fall.Tree Leaves break down and layers from the bottom up. It fill in if you have to many trees closes to the pond. I love your property!!! Great layout!!!! Manny Perez
The animals will get used to the noise. We live in a subdivision in name only where each lot is at least 5 acres, but over half the residents have shooting practice in their back yards. The horses have gotten used to all kinds of loud noises, including fireworks, doesn’t faze them
Great layout. As a farmer/Homesteader I am divided in the cost effectiveness of a small farmer as myself myself in raising your own hay. I have learned over the years by the time you purchase and maintain the equipment to do so you are far ahead by patterning with a custom bailer and purchasing from them. I still own a square bailer and we bailer some square bales for our goats or stalled animals just because it is becoming more difficult to find square bales in my area. Best wishes Diversified acres homestead.
The hill could be fill material from the pond. As you are aware, you want to tie that foundation down. Keep the foundation from shifting. You have many wild animals that like chickens. My earliest memories, growing up on a farm, is taking the heads off and gutting out the chickens. Taking the feathers off is what I hated. This was done so our mom could cook them for Sunday dinner. We were land rich but dollar poor. Regards...
Nice layout planned! Very functional and well thought out. I chuckled at the comment about the list of projects going on and on!! The list, keeps growing and takes on a life of its own! At least mine does! Thanks for sharing!
Love the fact that you all ready planted the Fruit trees. Any thought to Raspberry type plants? could be used as a fence line in a area. Plant any Butternut Tree's Like maybe 3 to 6 in that 3 Acre food plot area. Nothing like a Butternut Pie :) Don't forget some Bee Hives. Deer Love Apples
I grew up in Central New York State. My dad worked at a local natural gas pumping station as a mechanical engineer. He purchased 125 acres of land from my grandfather. This land had been in the family for generations. My dad spent years working a full time job and developing our farm into his vision for the property. He built a house. He built a two story barn and a pole barn. Then, developers started buying land around ours and building houses. Soon the property in the area went from farmland to residential and the cost per acre soared. The taxes became overwhelming for the 125 acres. He had to sell the farm and purchase a house for us with the money. So sad to watch our heritage land go. The developer who purchased the farm marked it off into building lots and made millions. The good news is that, years later, a property owner that purchased a large woodlot that we had retired and they turned the land over to our local land trust. So now the land is protected and open to the public to hike and enjoy!
Shredded bark path way to the blind/viewing tower for quiet access. Concrete pad for the shelter/grilling area by the pond possible lp gas line/power from future cabin site to shelter so direct tap of cooking gas for cookouts. Just a couple thoughts. Oh yeah truckload of sand for the beach/swimming area by the shelter. bol
What restrictions of use are on the cemetery? Could animals graze that area? I enjoy your development of this property and hope you will continue to share. Thank you.
John Lavender, no we don't own the cemetery, so we can't use it. we only own 41.117 acres out of the 42. the cemetery is the .883 acres that belongs to a local church.
So, I've gone through most of the videos looking for more information on the cemetery. What is the history of it, who's buried there and are you the caretakers of it?
Ok across from the camper is a structure with a car parked there. Is that yours as well or privately owned?? Btw, that’s a beautiful concrete drive way
Questions... Is the cemetery your property now or is it public property ? Do you have to allow public access for family members of the deceased ? Is the cemetery allowed to have others buried there without your consent ? Are you allowed to have your own family buried there ? Also if others are buried there can they make you enlarge the property to accommodate more deceased family members to be buried there ? And last but not least are you allowed to relocate the deceased ? I ask these question because I had the opportunity to buy a property that was 50 acres and it had a 2.5 acre cemetery on it. Well I decided against it because I did not want the headache of dealing with family being afraid of being haunted so to speak...lol
The cemetery is not my property, there is an access road to it. There have been a couple buried there since we have lived here. The cemetery isnt a bother.

smalltown442 Could you be buried at the cemetery? And what about asking if the church would let you graze goats on the cemetery?
Off Grid Texas Homestead, we have talked about being buried out there. That may be something we try to work out with the church.
@@kd5inm oh dear!!!
@@CountryViewAcres deed them an extra acre in your will and Im sure they will accommodate your request!
Love your layout. What program on your computer did you use for laying out everything?
What tech tools did you use besides google earth to map out your homestead?
So, I've gone through most of the videos looking for more information on the cemetery. What is the history of it, who's buried there and are you the caretakers of it?
What part of the country is this and what kind of fruit trees did you plant in your orchard area?
We live in southern Illinois. We planted peaches (white and red), apples (7 different varieties), plums, nectarine, pears, and sweet cherries.
Thx
Ok across from the camper is a structure with a car parked there. Is that yours as well or privately owned?? Btw, that’s a beautiful concrete drive way
That is a pole barn, that is ours as well as the field next to it.
The driveway is gravel, by the way.
Just gorgeous!!! What state are you in?
Acorn seeds from Oak trees are good for pigs
Wow

What part of Illinois are Y'all located?
Southeastern Illinois near the wabash river.
Shooting range !!!
You have ample land and water as well, why don't you try buffaloes? Buffalo milk is far better than cow's milk.
Oh ok lol. Just realized this is an old video.... lmao
Did you look if your name is one of the tomb stones because you might be in purgatory.
