      @nffcstu yes thats the point. We will never know if his game involved any cheating. What we do know is that rating for the game was refunded days later. It's left up to the viewer to decide what that means. Sticking to the facts.

    I wholeheartedly approve of Eric's approach to the "loss" to a cheater. While most would probably be fine with him just taking it off the board completely, Eric shows his integrity by acknowledging that it did occur with the "rating refund" notation. And congrats to him for reaching 2000 without a legitimate loss.
    I am curious as to why in game 1, Eric didn't play a6 before Qd6. I was expecting that as soon as he mentioned placing his queen there, as it would have prevented him from having to move the queen back and forth if black had played Nb5 right away, as Eric described as a possible continuation. Black didn't make that move, and f3 was a fatal error, so it didn't matter in this game, but it still seems like it would have been a prudent prophylactic move.

    • @DeathEaterLink
      @DeathEaterLink 6 місяців тому +1

      I am also curious and wonder what a higher rated player would say.
      from me [online 1700] I'm thinking- a6 does lead to structural weakness on b6 and especially c5. So maybe Qd6 is just much less committal, and the knight on b5 might even be a little offsides relative to c3 if played? brief computer evaluation - it doesn't really care for a6 from black, or Nb5 from white, so maybe it just isn't that good of a plan? IDK from a human perspective. Anyone else want to chime in?

    Eric, you almost said it!
    There was almost a tactic including Re1. If Qxe1 Qxe1 Rxb8, you have Qe5 and after Kg8, Qxb8 wins the rook.
    The slight problem with that is Be4, but then you would trade down to a winning rook vs bishop-endgame.

      “Zero losses” usually refers to multiple wins without any losses. It would not typically be said that one win was a “zero loss.” Another way to understand it is that only “one” indicates a unity. “Zero” is unusually multivalent and referential. (I really have no idea here but your question provoked some reflection that I found interesting. Someone who actually understands English as a language may have a more accurate response.)
