This is fucking excellent!! I LOVE Gaelic Storm! Saw a busker today in Sydney singing South Australia and I gave him a $20 for his efforts and a burnt CD of Gaelic Storm to get him to listen to their fine version of South Australia. Told him the song was originally Irish and he was a delightful chap
Hhahahahaha songs about going for "one" beer and ending up going home late to get a beating from the wife (The One)/ punching Russell Crowe in the head (The Night I Punched Russell Crowe)/ a man who drinks alcohol like a fish but dies of thirst (Johnny Tarr - my all time favorite followed by the sequel Never Drink 'Em Dry) / the poor bloke who ends up with the Captain's wife and then ends up doing hard labor (Courtin' In The Kitchen) List goes on and on and on. Every song a masterpiece - hilarious lyrics / snappy beat / great tune Is there anything Gaelic Storm can't do? All they need to do now is play in Sydney and they will be my all time favorite band
Don't forget the donkey that drinks the bootleg whiskey they decided to hide in his nosebag, wins a big race, keels over dead and ends with his 'better half' being made into a trophy (Darcy's Donkey), the guy that comes home to a huge party in his house (What's the Rumpus), the young man who was "poor but he had style" that made shoes out of his Wellies (Kelly's Wellies), the people providing all those poor Prohibition-era Americans with booze (Rum Runner), the tavern keeper's daughter that slept with pretty much *every* sailor that came through her port (Yarmouth Town), and last but not least, the crazy women that take over the entire town for their bachelorette parties (Girl's Night in Galway). Oh, and Johnny Tarr dies of 'tirst'. Never forget that.
In 1967, Patrick, the main singer, was working at a bar in California, when Russell Crowe didn't put out his cigarette, Patrick punched him in the face, then, his bodyguards beat the shit out of Patrick.
I agree, Patrick Murphy wasn't even born in 1967. Now early *1997* would make a LOT more sense for both of them, because not only was that right before Titanic was released, but the year Russell Crowe was in L.A. Confidential, which got him to be more well known in America.
I was at a show a few nights ago in Iowa City and Patty told everyone that Ireland is the only country to not win a battle. And that after he punched Crowe, he ran like a baby.
You do realize that this band, Gaelic Storm, has eight full albums as well as their first mainstream exposure was in the movie Titanic. This song helped get their newest album, "Whats the Rompus", to number one on the Billboard charts for world music. Its just a song.
Here's a little story about someone that you know He was a right famous fellow by the name of Russell Crowe I was working at a pub, he was smoking at the bar That's a crime, as all you know, in Cali-forn-i-a So I sidled up the rail, right to where he stood I said "I'm sorry, Mr. Crowe," as nicely as I could "You'll have to put that out now. Throw it on the floor If you don't, I'll kick you out and show you to the door" Well, he squared right up to me, somewhat in surprise Then he narrowed up his gaze, shot me daggers with his eyes "If you think you're man enough, go ahead" he said I was scared for my life, so I docked him in the head The closest I've come to ending up dead Was the night that I punched Russell Crowe, the "Gladiator" in the head He lifted up his hands, put them to his nose Blood was running through his fingers, dripping on his clothes His bodyguards ran up, "Get him!" shouted Crowe "Run!" cried Chucky "Run, and don't stop until you get to Mexico!" The closest I've come to ending up dead Was the night that I punched Russell Crowe, the "Gladiator" in the head The closest I've come to ending up dead Was the night that I punched Russell Crowe, the "Gladiator" in the head "You can't hit me, I'm the Cinderella Man! I'm the Master and Commander, I'm Australian! You can't hit me, don't you know I'm dangerous? I'm the outlaw Ben Wade!" "I AM MAXIMUS!" Oi, oi, oi! Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!
weel, I didn't write this song. This is from Gaelic Storm. I just animated it. And yes, most of us know that Australia and New Zealand are two separte countries. IMDB says "Born in New Zealand, Russell has made his home in Australia since he was a small child."
I just love this video. I watch it every day, sometime twice a day and it always makes me smile. Love what you've done with the Legos. It IS THE WINNING VIDEO!!! Let's see some more. By the way, I've been trying to figure out if this is based on a true story. There is conflicting information, but if I were to make a guess, I think Paddy is full of blarney. But that's ok, it's a great song and a great video. Thanks for sharing. Run Chucky run until you get to Mexico.
If you've never seen Gaelic Storm live in concert.....you have to before you die! Patrick is absolutely straight faced when he told us about how he came up with this song and he is very believable. He and Steve swear it's true!
I was right behind them checking into a hotel in Wisconsin once. There was an irish fair and they were there. I think their room was near mine too. I didn't bother them but they seemed super cool
Great job on the video and it fits THE SONG PERFECTLY - sorry some people are ignorant and speak/type without knowing what the hell they are talking about -silly silly - Congratulations on the win, well deserved!
Wow ! Just read that Murphy really did unload a haymaker to the Head of the unfortunate Russell Crowe. And when Crowe came to ; he wanted the number of the truck that ran over his face.

I didn't think this song could get any better and then I found this. Legos and celtic music= win, win.
JediMaster Yorhacken OMG someone with the same mutt mix as me..we must be related. :)
I know. Isnt it awesome

Even better than "making movies, writing songs, and fighting round the world"!!
Love it.
This made my day! Sharing. This is the video the world needs now.
Hhahahahaha songs about going for "one" beer and ending up going home late to get a beating from the wife (The One)/ punching Russell Crowe in the head (The Night I Punched Russell Crowe)/ a man who drinks alcohol like a fish but dies of thirst (Johnny Tarr - my all time favorite followed by the sequel Never Drink 'Em Dry) / the poor bloke who ends up with the Captain's wife and then ends up doing hard labor (Courtin' In The Kitchen)

My dad and I went to a Gaelic Storm concert the other day. When Patrick was talking about this song before playing it, my dad was just dying laughing!
Why do I just keep coming back to this song all the time? LOOOOVE IT!!! :D
Actually, he really did sock Crowe. For serious. And he still talks about it.
Murph told me that Crowe was smoking a joint which was marginally legal at the tine,
@@stephenandersen4625 marginally. So he probably held back the punch a bit
"Are you not entertained?"
OY OY OY!!!
This is the most creative thing I've seen in a really long time! Super cool song and super cool idea! Thanks!
I saw them last night, and they told the story about this song. It's just waaay too funny
whats the story of the song?
In 1967, Patrick, the main singer, was working at a bar in California, when Russell Crowe didn't put out his cigarette, Patrick punched him in the face, then, his bodyguards beat the shit out of Patrick.
Popeye Oneonetwo Ummm I think you may have your date a tad bit off. Russel Crowe would have been about 3 years old in 1967.
I agree, Patrick Murphy wasn't even born in 1967. Now early *1997* would make a LOT more sense for both of them, because not only was that right before Titanic was released, but the year Russell Crowe was in L.A. Confidential, which got him to be more well known in America.
Well, thanks for putting to rest my skepticism.
Great job. Gotta love a Lego music video. Congratulations on winning the contest!
what a video, cant believe this has been floated around since 2008. Gaelic storm plus lego!
Fun song ...I just love Legos and the men who still play with them.
Christy Braun How nice. Im sure the reverse is true.
I was at a show a few nights ago in Iowa City and Patty told everyone that Ireland is the only country to not win a battle. And that after he punched Crowe, he ran like a baby.
Natalie Fray That is funny, if a bit untrue.
Gotta love that this is a true story
+Shannon Meeks Sorta...naaaahh it's true!

Its just a song.

"I AM MAXIMUS!"
Oi, oi, oi!
Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!

I LOVE this song, and this vid is perfect!!
Great video and great story telling. Very enjoyable.
Good point--there's a Relient K song that someone made a Lego video for too, it works on the same principle.
Great job Casey. You are very talented.
And I always fantasized about making "Darcy's Donkey" in Lego
masterpiece, both video and song
I was right behind them checking into a hotel in Wisconsin once. There was an irish fair and they were there. I think their room was near mine too. I didn't bother them but they seemed super cool
I saw these guys on accident once. They're pretty awespme. Excellent video. "I am Maximus". Too funny.

Wow ! Just read that Murphy really did unload a haymaker to the Head of the unfortunate Russell Crowe. And when Crowe came to ; he wanted the number of the truck that ran over his face.
Still punching Russel Crowe in 2022!
I think it's more that Crowe is known as an actor in Australian films and is commonly referred to as Australian (he moved there when he was 4), in the same way Mel Gibson is referred to as Australian although born in USA (moved to Oz when 12).
Vid is great.
This is REALLY good man! Almost as good as Blunty3000's videos!
This is so cool! Must have taken you forever to make this.....
