Great videos I enjoy your upbeat personality. Eventually there will be a third big company that will come in and compete with Lyft and Uber. Learning from both companies mistakes and less greedy on profits and more driver/contractor relationship friendly.

Appreciate all the information. I recently started Uber and will be adding Lyft too. Last night was the first Saturday night I drove and I did pick up a couple of surge rides but it was luck not driving looking for it. The surges were only 1.2 and 1.4 so not a huge deal. On Friday night about an hour from me there was a 6x surge and my immediate thought was why would anyone pay that?
Yeah, so many people will just wait until the surge is over.
Don't usually subscribe to channels but you seem very sweet so I had to .Good luck with your channel.

Sometimes it is worth it. Depends on where the surge is. If it's down town in a big city, it'll probably be going on for a little bit. If it's in the middle of nowhere the the surge makes no sense at all, then of course not. For me, for example, last weekend I saw a surge starting downtown around closing time at the bars so I headed that way. It was about 10 miles away from me at the time. By the time I got there, primetime was at 400% and I got a ride that had 3 drop offs clear on the other side of town and I made over 100 dollars on that ride alone in about 35 minutes. However, I've also had surge rides that looked great at first, but were only going a mile or two from the pickup and by the time I got back to where I picked up the passenger, the surge was gone and I missed out. Disappointed, but you can't count on surge or primetime and I know that of course ;)

Can you make a video on how to conserve gas in your experience. I try so hard as a Lyft driver, but here in Southern California, the gas is so damn high! I want to drive as much as I can, but gas has prevented me from realizing my potential.
Ram Cloud That’s a great idea! Unfortunately, many of the gas saving techniques are myths so I’m not sure what I could share. But man yeah gas is so high there!
Well maybe you can share some tips you've learned along the way. I think that the people, who give those 85+ rides a week for Lyft either had alot of money "invested" in gas (like already having a regular job to supplement it), and/or live in areas where demand is high, and you have more opportunities to hit the surges, and get the prime-time pay (i.e. Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, or any major city). I live an hour away from L.A., and where I am, the demand is not as high, and it's more spread out. Also, I don't know if gender has to do with it, but I find that female ride-share drivers are likely to get cash tips, and tips overall from passengers, than male ride-share drivers get. Let's be honest. You're very cute! So I can imagine that you get hit on by guys all the time, and maybe some of those passengers tip you, just because you're so pretty, especially with your nice reddish, orange ginger hair, and voice.
For me anytime I drive through a surge area I pick up that surge pricing and it stays on the app until my next ride request.. even if I leave the surge area?

Another real quick question just to see what you would do in this situation. Someone got my car today with a kid definitely too young to not be in a car seat and they said that one of their first stops which they didn't put in the app of course was to get their car seat because their car was in the shop. Would you allow that customer to get in? Or would you tell them they have to have a car seat to get in your car? Also only that same lines if someone has a stop or wants to stop somewhere how do you handle that TimeWise? Thank you very much for your info
Ahh, that is definitely a very difficult situation. I would have to feel it out but most likely, I would not allow it. They can cancel and call another ride and try to get a driver who would, but I would not want to risk that child's life. You never know when an accident is going to happen. Just yesterday I was in a car that was stopped at a red light and got rear ended by someone still going about 35. Myself and the driver of the car weren't injured, but a child without the proper restraints could have been seriously hurt.
If someone has additional stops, I don't mind doing them but only if they add them as stops into the app and agree that it will be no longer than 3 minutes. If it's going to be longer than that, I'll complete the ride there and they can call a new ride.

munchkym so now I'm on a scheduled pickup with Uber and the guy has been in the restaurant for about 5 minutes. But this is a scheduled stop so I have one more place till I drop them off. Do you normally tell the person they only have 3 minutes tops before they get out of the vehicle? Now I don't know what to do since he's taking forever...haha
I tell them before they get out so they know that I'm going to leave if they take longer and I don't let them leave things in the car haha

Great question! I know DoorDash and PostMates are very popular, but I don't have them in my city so I don't have personal experience. But it's definitely true that the people who do those (as well as the other ones such as Amazon Flex) think they're great. I hope they become available so I can try!
Driving for Uber / Lyft in my city of Providence RI sucks, the pay rate is very cheap for drivers, 0.80 base fare, 0.60/mi, 0.12/min, you drive more miles than what you get paid for and also there are the miles you spend driving for the pick ups that you don't get paid for which sometimes tend to be at pretty far distances, on the other hand I have driven in the city of Boston MA which is 50 miles away from Providence RI, the pay rate over there is a whole lot higher than RI, one Sunday night I drove for 2 hours 6pm-8pm, drove for 20 miles, gave only 5 rides and made $60.00!!!!

Take screenshots of all of your rides? More detail please. (I know how to do the screenshot part), but why? Isn't there already a record of these "shady" rides. I have no doubts you have an answer. Call me "confused".
There is a record, but sometimes the app messes up and having that info is helpful! Sometimes passengers will lie about something a screenshot can prove. Or if you forget what ride something was, you can look back to figure it out. Very helpful!

My friend says long distance rides in particular, passengers will lie and say they felt unsafe, your car stinks, you stink, your driving stinks ;try to get you to go another route so they can claim navigation error. They will say anything they can to scam you. He says you get on average one of those customers a month. Lyft sent him a message saying the customer said his brand new car Be stink and smelt like dirty laundry... Smelt is a metallurgist term not a Lyft ride description... You can tell whoever said that was a crackhead and probably smelt themselves... ;)

On Lyft there should be a third tab that says “Earn $xx” (xx being whatever your city’s money is.) On the Lyft website you can also personalize your code.

The best thing to do is to chase the surge right because rather than getting two $8 rides it's better to get one $10 ride within 2 hours rather than getting two $8 rides. It's better that chase the Surge and make less money and waste more gas. It's better to waste more gas and time trying to find a $10 ride then an $8 ride it's so much better to waste time trying to do that. LOL just kidding I like the kid with people that I think are awesome. I'ma chops buster and just like to be funny keep up the good work. And Hope you keep crushing it.
