  • It’s been 3 years since we sat down and filmed the initial documentary with the Harris Media Co. team. A LOT has changed since then and it was time to sit down, reflect on GJ’s difficulties with GBM, the growth of StacheStrong, where we go from here and everything in between.
We recorded for hours and while it’s terrifying and heart breaking to reopen what Geej faced, we hope this video can inspire and resonate with every person, family and community currently fighting GBM, as well as all those we have lost.
One thing we promise is that through it all, StacheStrong will not waver. We will continue to fight arm in arm with families across the country as we aim to flip the script on this disease. StacheStrong isn’t just our family’s story anymore. It’s a movement and a cause where we’re truly stronger together. It’s choosing to fight back, loving fully and making sure we always #LiveStacheStrong!!!

There is an old proverb that says, "Those who bear great illness do so, because they have those spirits which take upon themselves that which others cannot bear." As I have written privately to you, I face my own brain surgery in a little more than a week...and I do not know that I have such a spirit as GJ, a spirit which willingly bears the unbearable.
But I do know that I write these words of tribute ...while I can...and it is my great honor to have in common with GJ this particular story, this thing called "brain cancer." My life, never having been something one might call significant, nevertheless finds itself in the company of a hero. GJ was, and is, a hero.
And finding myself in such company is truly something to be grateful for. I can walk this path, because he walked it first. I hope that I walk it with the same humor, the same humility and graciousness. Thank you for sharing GJ's story; I needed to find it.
