This is a very stupid element. Literally cannot understand how jump designers think this is a good test of skill or fitness. Just a bad jump waiting to maim.
No matter the event, each of those riders chose to accept this course by competing. If the riders backed out they would STOP jumps like this. Dont compete when the course is dangerous for your partner!
The thing is, it's expensive to even watch and image the rider fee. They pay to do the course, Some horses can clear it just fine, others not so much. It's a gamble in the horse world. Especially in competition. Gamble to see what your horse can do or work on
@Eros.n.pippins No, just no. There is no consideration of horse safety with this jump. I understand horses and humans can trip over nothing. However, they can at least design courses with horse welfare in mind. This jump is an illustration of what I'm talking about. All they have to do is take a second to wonder what happens if a horse doesn't make it. The landing should never have had that split. That jump could have still been used with minor modifications. Just like show jumping, where instead of heavy logs to bash a leg if it hits, use hollow bars. Same jump, same look to horse and rider, but a horse won't break a leg. Use grasses to give the appearance of a high jump, but if the horse misses, it has a face full of grass instead of a wall. I love the idea of testing horse and rider communication and skills, but it does NOT have to come at the expense of endangering the horse! It says a LOT when I can honestly say PBR bulls are better treated. These horses and the training costs millions, and owner riders are okay with safety not being improved? Even when the aesthetics, skill level, and difficulty could be maintained with MINOR modifications? That is completely up to the riders/owners to protest. So when a jump has the majority of the competitirs miss, instead of admiring the ones that make it, does anyone consider how many horses were injured? And how to prevent future injuries to the horses? I have never, not once, heard commentary on how the course could be improved for the horses' sake! At least with PBR, if the majority of the bulls were injured in an event, they WOULD find out/fix the issue because the bull is literally half the score maker! How about scoring to where the horse is injured or falls the ride is disqualified? Again, if a bull falls, the riders get another ride.
@taurusrae7630 At the end of the day, a horse can break a leg by falling down a ditch out on a hack or even titting about in the field. While others? Rock bloody solid. People who actually put their horses in such situations do not love horses.
These obstacles are getting ridiculously dangerous. It's not worth the risk of possibly injuring the horse or rider or even possibly causing death to both. Who are these obstacle designers?? Are they insane?? Ban it!!
Pepole who really feel bad for the horse
👇
How is this legal to use in official competitions? Animal welfare protection laws? Anywhere? This is way too dangerous.
XC courses are getting insane these days. Wanna know why? Because people don’t give a fuck about the actual animals, just money this money that. That one video of the horses back legs getting stuck on that one jump? Most likely because a vet didn’t check the jumps.
I'm appalled with this jump and I agree it should be banned forever. As a rider myself, I wouldn't ask my horse to do this. My horses are family and I wouldn't risk them this way.
As soon as they said “is it worth the risk” I was shaking my head 😢
This jump should definitely be band.
People don't understand they have no depth perception??? You can have a bed of black rocks and they will think it's 30 feet deep. This is why they have trouble crossing water.
This is what is giving the sport a bad name. No care for riders or horses who are pushed to the extreme 😢
Made for tv obstacles that have nothing to do with horses or horsemanship. Riders should have protested
THIS SHOULD FOR SURE BE BANNED!! I WOULD NOT DO THIS JUMP ON THE COURSE IF I SAW IT!! Poor horses!!! Whoever made this jump should be banned from making these jumps and such!!
The teeth and jaw of the horse😥 I can’t imagine the pain
I love XC , testing a skill is part of competition, creating jumps to purposefully injure horse and rider is not a test of skill.
When they ask you to go to war and risk dying with swords vs 100k other MEN on horseback 🤯🤯🤯🤯
It’s a horse. Not a damn dirt bike. If you wanna do that, join the motocross. I don’t even own a horse but I know a horse is a friend and should be treated like one.
HOLY FUCK WHAT WERE THE PEOPLE THINKING WHEN THEY CREATED THIS?!??? WHAT THE FUCK??? I WOULD SUE!!!!! ARE YOU AND THE HORSE OKAY AT LEAST??? THIS MAKES MY BLOOD BOIL.
That is insane. It wouldn't be as bad if the entire ravine was filled in to the height of the landing pad, but the way it is??? HELL no.
Maybe a similar jump but with a smaller gap and not as high could have been more appropriate.
The same general theme of jump just safer
it's a big risk that the horse will stumble and die, but I don't care about people, the biggest problem is people who mix up such crap and the horses just suffer
everyone is concerned about the horse but no one cared about the person who almost got stepped on... 😢
should care about both... 😢😢😢
Too risky. It is so risky it actually seems disrespectful to me that they want riders and horses to accept that risk.
it’s such an awful design. horses wouldn’t be able to see beneath them, so they would just have to leap into the air, not knowing the distance.
That jump is just for disaster they shouldn’t make a horse do that.
Do you love your horse??? Then do NOT jump him over this death trap!!!
I love eventing, but I refuse to compete or school the upper levels because so much of this sht is designed to break your horse. It should be outlawed. Absolutely ridiculous. There is nothing worse than a person who loves the sport more than the horse.
I was at Badminton the year they used this jump. It looked terrifying but the several horses that we saw jump it did it with ease. If they filled in the gap it would make it safer but no less of a challenge.
THERE IS AN EXTENT THAT YOU CAN PUSH HORSES UNTIL THEY GET HURT!!! IF YOU CANT JUMP IT AS A HUMAN AND NOT GET HURT THEN HORSES SHOULDN’T HAVE TO DO IT!!!
sorry just want this comment to be seen.
Terrible designer shouldn't be used at all, please remove this obstacle sighting massive risk to horse and rider.
Its sooo stupid how humans risk their and the horses life all the damn time. Like, yes, go ahead.. do jumps, have fun. But jumps like this? Just stupid.
There must be some sort of law against this, right?? I mean, any minor inconvenience at this jump could be extremely dangerous for horse and rider. Wtf.
What happens when horses get broken legs? The answer is yes. Ban it.
I have seen many jumps like that but they are all a lot closer to the ground and a lot safer so the horse won’t slip and hurt itself or a rider. Jumps like that and that size should be banned
Whoa. These jumps should be outlawed. These poor horses.
