Love the challenge and I have multiple males I can sew for. I think I should do cargo shorts for my teenage Grandson. Look forward to participating!! Hello Miss Luna!!!
That maker’s case is absolutely stunning Adam! I’m super excited about the challenge - I have a ton of ideas of stuff I can sew for my hubby and for my sons. Now if only I had all the time in the world to make it all!! 🇨🇦💞
Agree about men's patterns Adam, my hubby is 6'7" and has inside leg of 37" and rise much longer then current standard. We need more men's patterns in a larger size range. Our son is 6' but has 28" waist too.
The June challenge sounds interesting, I might have to have a go. Your makers bag looks amazing. Dobby was probably crying because wanted to be on screen too, lovely to see Luna. Another great video as always 💖
Wow...Adam...your makers bag is amazing and will be so useful for you I'm sure 🙏💝. Totally agree about there not being enough decent mens patterns out there...it needs to be addressed for sure ✊. Great challenge and I hope to have time to have a go 👍. I have made my dad a sweatshirt before and things for very young boys but never anything for my hubby. He's never been very fussed about it..but I'm sure it's because he would rather I sewed for myself 😉...so I might surprise him 😋😁💝😘
Another great vlog Adam. I agree with you about the mens patterns, there a very few out there that look appealing to make. I have made hoodies and sweatshirts for my husband. I have to say I’ve not seen any other patterns that look inspiring! Your background in the video looks fantastic. You have really made so many lovely things which look great on display behind you. Thanks for sharing. 😊
You’re right! Sewing for my 6’5” and 6’4” sons is a little challenging, but I have to draft patterns for my 94 yr old father who is 5’3” and 133 lb. He can’t wear off the rack clothes. Your maker’s bag is to die for! 💗 It would have taken me weeks, literally, just to design all the details for that. Congratulations 🎉 for being selected for the Aurofil team!
Sounds like a great idea for a challenge. I do make things for my husband and he even wore a shirt I made on a business trip recently which I was shocked about 🤣. I will definitely make something else for him in June and enter. That bag is awesome, you are just so talented and humble 👏🏼
I will definitely take part in the challenge! I already have the Elbe textiles free tshirt pattern downloaded and had gotten some black cotton jersey to make my boyfriend a tshirt. This is a good motivator!
I'm definitely joining in with the challenge. I have some T & T patterns and my husband loves them so much he won't stop wearing them. Since he's had intensive cancer treatment (and is a survivor) he struggles with being cold in our Sydney winter so I'm making him sleepwear. PS My Cavoodle Molly likes your dog
Oooh give Molly a hug and pets from me. So glad to hear your husband is a survivor! Sleepwear sounds fab! There’s a free pattern by Ellie and mac I belive for sleepwear, thanks for stopping by ☺️
I am so happy to see you do this challenge. My husband is very particular about the shirts he wears. I have made him a couple of button down shirts with a pattern from wardrobe by me. His preferred shirt is a polo shirt (both long and short sleeved). I tried making a short sleeved polo for him but really struggled with the front placket. I think there were two issues. One, the material was wrong - a light weight jersey. Second, the seam allowance was only 1/4" which also made it hard to sew the placket. I also skipped the button holes as I don't think the material would have worked. I have sewn for 50+ years but am new to all the various types of knits. (not available in my younger days 😉). So I am hoping there will be some people sewing a polo shirt with good recommendations. Both in patterns and material. I have seen you make a polo shirt (Oliver Knit Polo by Sinclair patterns). What type of knit material do you use? PS - I have been enjoying your channel for several months now!
Thankyou, I’m so glad I have been keeping you entertained. I have made about 5/6 of the Oliver knit polos and I alway use a 200gsm cotton Lycra jersey, it more stable, for the placket and collar I always starch the fabric before interfacing those areas to stabilise before attempting the placket and buttonholes, I’ve even put some tear away stabiliser under the fabric for buttonholes on knit before too as I makes for a neater finish, hope that helps ☺️
I've been searching for a classic men's jeans pattern and the Angela Kane pattern is the only one I can find. It's not good, having so little choice. I'm looking forward to seeing the makes that your challenge brings forth. I'm due to make a Jackson Pullover from Helen's Closet for my hubby when the fabric arrives so I will try and get it finished in June.
The Angela Kane pattern does make up beautifully, I’ve two pairs, my husband has two also and I think I’m gonna make my dad a pair soon too when I get time. It’s a nice classic slightly slim straight cut Jean
I would thoroughly enjoy sewing for my boys/men. Don’t hate me, but I’m starting with a camp shirt, a classic, not new and trendy. I experienced the Big 4 old pattern in a new envelope for my grandson. The pant were like pajamas. Burda kids is so much better.
Love this challenge. My Wardrobe by Me Summer Pants and Shorts pattern arrived just in time. Don’t get me started on the lack of baby boy and boy patterns!!!!
Well done Adam. I have wanted to sew for my husband and grandsons but the few patterns available are not inspiring. Have often wondered why there doesn't seem to be companies that
Hi Adam. I'm not sure on UA-cam etiquette yet but I would like to do a project for #hemadejune. Is it ok to mention it on my channel on Friday? Don't want to say the wrong thing 🤣. Thanks it's a brilliant challenge 👏🏼
@@AdamSews great thanks. My husband won't part with a ragged pair of camo shorts so I'm going to make him a fresh pair 🤣😂. Hope i get the links right but if not I'll write in the description box. I'm still learning ☺️
Not only are there not enough mens patterns out there, the style or type of men's clothing is very limited as well. For example women's pants can be long, short, Capri, wide, slim, palazzo, culottes, printed, brightly coloured, decorated with all sort of embellishments, and so on. There just aren't as many options that are "socially acceptable" for men. And most of the fabric available doesn't fall into that "socially acceptable" category! I buy and make clothes for my nephew and it's all very boring.
I thought I had commented the other day!! I will be glad to make my husband and maybe son a shirt or something for Hemadejune! And will talk about your challenge with lisa on my yt channel
I can’t wait to see everyone’s makes!

Great idea for a challenge Adam. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. Also, I love the Tula organizer bag. Keep up the great work.

Draft for men. Hope this challenge inspires more and promotes awareness that there is a market for mens patterns.

I completely agree, there’s no range in menswear patterns, as you say they are very sedate

Thanks April, I am so chuffed with how the case came out. Can’t wait to see what you make for hemadejune ☺️☺️
There aren't any patterns for greatly oversized men either!!! xXX
There is a real lack of range and it is frustrating and pattern companies say there’s no demand, but there’s no market as they don’t exist
