So the police had a bunch of evidence pointing to one person but they ignored that and continually harassed a family that had no evidence pointing to them. Amazing work.

no no no, it wasn’t “no evidence,” it was evidence produced under false evidence. Letting him drive through the crime scene makes all
previous evidence irrelevant and, not only that, but supsicious
It was absolutely police incompetence that caused sll the problems. “Chester the Molester” shoudl have been dealt with immediately but the culture of “childhood foolishness” allows a LOT of shit goes through

Matched the description and sketch, one victim positively ID'd car, another victim almost ID'd him in a line up, failed the polygraph test, wears hats and has military fatigues, and they had his DNA. It's completely insane.

I know. But with cases like this, they always have to go with what sentencing guidelines were in place at that time. Twenty years was likely the very maximum they could give a pedo back in the early 90s.

I was gonna say that I remember seeing one that was worse, but... The more I think on in, the more I think it might have been the same case. I'm not 100% sure though.
Similar setup, same sort of crime. Case went cold. A new investigator took a look and dragged a man's name through the press without any real evidence and it goes cold again. Then someone else finally cracks the case open and gets the right guy.
Here's the cherry on top though - They were interviewing the lead detective that dragged the innocent mans name through the mud. At this point, it was a known 100% certainty that he was innocent and that another man did the crime. But still, this detective insisted that he's right and the innocent guy is somehow to blame for it.

@ivy-galactic, I felt so bad for Dan Rassier and his Family being "persecuted" by the same "law enforcement" who caused BOYS "to arm themselves with knives because a man is constantly 'assaulting' them since 'police' seem to have their heads up their @$$..." I mean for this FREAK to jump out in public and "clothesline a boy" and the boy's response is "You already 'got' me...." as in he had already "assaulted" him on a different occasion almost as if, "...you normally 'assault' new victims but you already 'got' me remember...." WTH?! They said at least 8 boys reported being "assaulted" and where were the "Authorities".... Probably interrogating someone's chickens to determine "if the chicken sh** in the neighbor's yard is theirs...." -_-
There aren't even words for that precious boy Jacob Wetterling and his Family.... He had everything to live for and just a simple bike ride to/from a store with his brother and friend to rent a movie, became a real life "movie nightmare" for him and those left behind. All because a "monster" which these days is "politically protected and even promoted" would take the "next step" in this wicked perversion and not only "assault" but murder the victim. I KNEW he did it, soon as they said "he stopped...." He was filling his mind with the wicked images/acts & then he was acting them out by "assaulting" boys, it was likely to lead where it did where he'd not only "assault" a victim but take their life. The details of what happened reminded me of that "creature" from "Jeepers Creepers", stalking it's "prey" to satiate it's appetite, devouring parts of it's victims to "make itself feel whole".... That's what that piece of excrement is... What is even more disgusting is that trash like this is "protected in prison" because they know other inmates can't stand such filth.

Sadly its just what happens when humans are allowed to make decisions upon others fate. We cant have people roam free for crimes but humans also cant 100% find truth in every case. Crazy things happen that seem obvious but in reality it was something completely different. For example : theres a case where a man was arrested for a bag of cocaine I seen where police found drugs at the foot of a detained man standing in line for court. They then arrested him and he claimed innocence. I dont remember all the back and forths but they either didnt have video evidence at first or police failed to check cameras and he was I believe convicted of a felony drug charge and contraband charges. Later on at some point either video come to light or they checked cameras and the drugs had actually fell out of a guys pocket standing next to him completely on accident and the man charged for it changed his stance and stood on the bag with a corner sticking out when the police officer noticed it. To anyone with a brain that looked like a no brainer he dropped it and tried to cover it when in reality he had no idea. Any case without concrete evidence there is a chance of false imprisonment but we cant just look the other way either. Just how it goes sometimes. Thats why police need to do their jobs to the best of their abilities.

Agree with you, I was born in '86 and grew up about 20 miles south of the twin cities. Growing up our parents didn't let us out of their sight after dark, even during the day they kept a pretty close eye on us. I wasn't old enough to understand at the time, but in hindsight I have no doubt Jacob Wetterling was the reason.

Thankfully the guy wasn't armed like the guy in Jacob's terrible situation.. Me and a buddy were riding our bikes in the neighborhood and we just passed my parents house and my buddy dropped something so he stopped to pick it up and as I'm turning around to look, a white van was pulling up but instead of just passing by it started to come to a stop and there was a driver, front seat passenger and what came to be someone in the back that slid the back door open and asked if I needed a ride. I jumped off my bike and booked it past my friend and to my parents front door and shortly after my buddy showed up and asked what was going on so I told him and I just left my bike in that spot and stayed inside the rest of the day..

She was attacked at midnight and was still alive until early morning (but not conscious). I don’t sleep well and was up all night that night. The realisation that I could have done something hit me hard. Of course I didn’t know, anymore than you did, but the frustration turned into guilt and I carried her with me, I felt like it was the least I deserved for doing nothing to help her. I have had some counselling for it and it has helped but she’s always with me. Dan, it WASNT OUR FAULT. It was HIS fault (I don’t even want to write his name, he doesn’t deserve one), HE could have done something. Not you, not me, we didn’t even know there was something wrong. Turned out the woman right across the street from my own house had an abusive boyfriend who had been beating her 2yr old son while she was at work. This particular day he had beat the kid so severely he had killed him. I sat outside my house and saw the boy and his bigger sister (about 5 or 6yrs old) playing all summer prior to the event in autumn. Never suspected a thing. Never noticed anything strange.. That was 2017 and I'm still holding myself back from crying now. It wasn't my fault. What happened to the girl wasn't yours. What happened to Jacob wasn't Dan's. There's a bit of courtyard logic behind it. See, I dunno if you've ever been in or dealt with Max/Fed, but there is exactly one type of criminal that doesn't make it out of there easily. You mess with a kid, you're done. In their eyes, if he would admit to it, it doesn't matter how long he goes in there for, the inmates are gonna handle him. I say this having done camera and tech installations at a few prisons. "Let me see your papers" is a real thing. They don't take your word for it, they will find out why you are there, they have ways, and when they do, you're on a time limit.

I never could understand why they (a pair of guys) wanted to take me. I ran, hollered for help, and jumped the fence to get to the coach. She however did not believe me. I went to class told the teacher and she did not believe me either. I ran all the way home after school terrified and avoided brown cars. I told my mom and she did not believe me. Days later I took it upon myself to tell the principal and he laughed it off. I was so alone. I fell into a deep depression and became reclusive. It wasn't till I hit puberty that I decided could defend myself. I grew up in a bad neighborhood of Dallas so I had to worry more about getting jumped or robbed lol. @@elw6150 My parents owned a home and resort on a lake back in the 1950's in Canada, nearest neighbor was a 1/2 mile away. I was walking home from school which was thru a forested area when I was 8 in early June of 1958, when I came across a naked man playing with himself, he asked if I wanted to play with him. I took off running, passing a car with two women naked making out. I ran the rest of the way home, my mom took one look at me and asked what was wrong I told her, just happened that day the police were there having coffee at my parent's restaurant. The police questioned me and asked if I got the license plate of the car which I didn't, they then took off right away but the man and the two women in the car were gone. Exactly a week later a little closer to home from the first incident I had to cross the bridge, when I was half way across, a man came running on to the bridge wearing swim trunks and asked me where the change rooms were, I pointed to where they were. He then he took his swim trucks off fast and was about to grab me, when two teenage girls walked on to the bridge, he then ran past me and them. I had noticed a car on the other side of bridge, I wrote the license plate number on a piece paper and ran home, but not before I seen the same man now fully dressed jump into that car and drive off. Before I got home, the police were driving down the road to go for coffee, I waved to them told what happened and gave them the piece paper with the license plate number. The asked if I knew the two teenage girls, I pointed to the two teenage girls who were way up the road by then and they drove up to talk to them. I had a few weeks left of school so my older 16 year old sister walked me to and from school. When we finished school my parents sent my sister and I to spend the summer with our Aunt and Uncle. They then sold their home and business, as the police thought that I was being targeted by a Pedophile ring. My parents bought a new home in a residential area, where neighbors were close by , the walk to school was on a street with houses. When I had my own children when they were school age, I warned both my children about predators.
