Great job as always Philip! Please remember to ask Steven to provide a proper labeled diagram of all this future reference. It is hard to remember the details after it's all filled in. A diagram will also provide guidance on where not to plant bushes or trees, to keep them far away from the sewage and drainage pipes. Definitely one of a restorer's headache projects x10 for Avensac's scale! Cheers and best to Ms Judy too!
Redbuzzcut, fear not, we have a full architectural plan that not only includes our new sewer installation, it shows the locations of all of the former ones... well, at least those that we found ! I am sure there are some old outhouses somewhere on the property, but I refuse to go digging! 😆😆😆 Thank you
Phyllis, almost! In fact as I write this to you, the boys are boring the new exit holes through the ancient wall. We will be up and running... uh, draining, really really soon ! 😆❤️
@@atthechateau we are all cheering for the closing up of this long and tedious endeavor. I know you will be glad to level out the land, and move forward with this part behind you. : )
Whomever did the piping did such a tidy job! I'm now personally excited about the kitchen suite of rooms being able to move forward. I'm such a fan of the plans.
Mary B, Our boys did the pipe work and they have done a bang up job! and now you have me excited, because you are correct, we can start on our kitchens!!! Thank you
Have just finished reading your blog about you previous house. I am so impressed with all you two have done and amazed at what is being done now. Hope the health continues to improve.
Margaret, Thank you for checking out my old blog. I wish I had todays technology for blogging and videos back then, sigh... 🤣 and Thank you for the kind words ❤️

It's just Gem...lol My moms nickname spelled backwards... Meg. Long story. Is this Mark who comes from Oregon? I'm in Eugene for the last 21 years but I was born in Portland. Milwaukee to be exact. Then I lived in Boring for a bit. My son actually owns a business that grows and makes CBD/THC products. They were melting gummy bears and then mixing them to make edibles. Since I am on Meds for my Spinal Arthritis and blown out knees etc. I can't imbibe. But once I pulled melted gummy off a spatula thinking it hadn't been mixed with the "good stuff" yet. Boy was I wrong. I got the best sleep for about 16 hours. Fortunately I didn't wake up to take my night dose of Morphine...lol

@@atthechateauthank you. I hope you do not feel too discouraged or heavy-hearted. It is all necessary work, and it will be so improved later that years from now, you will hardly remember the dirt, difficulty, and hassle. Besides, you have so much to look forward to when you get to paint, floors, wall covering, and furniture!
Wonderful. Please please shoot more video and keep us updated. I can’t recall but isn’t your moat dry right now? Eventually will, you have standing water or only when it rains ?
Donna, we promise to keep posting videos ! You are correct that our moat is just about dry now. The new system puts all of the roof water into the moat, so our hope is that it will be much much fuller (is fuller a word?) and it will not dry out. Thank you for such a great observation and comment !
J WIllington, Thank you for appreciating the content of the video. There actually will be a water filtration system installed him the next year. As soon as we know what it is, and when it will be installed we will be sure to let all of you know. Thank you ! Mark
Gloria, oh so many projects, but, winter may come and go before they are complete. We will now turn our attention back to the principal bedrooms on the upper floor. Time to put the floors back together! Thank you
Hi Kate, from the first protrusion of the laundry room to the point where we attach to the city mains is roughly 128 meters (420 feet). We are fortunate in that the sewage lines are on two levels, the upper terrace and the mid terrace. 2/3rds of the line are on the upper terrace and we were 2.5 meters (8.2 feet) deep when we made the protrusion through the wall, much much lower than the older line. Once we land on the mid terrace we begin again at ground level. The remainder of the dig to the city connection is only (roughly) 1 meter (39 inches) deep, and we can get a much larger piece of equipment on the mid level for the digging. We will do this section next year. Thank you for a great question!
You got some fairly acute bends in the pipework by the looks of it, but I’m not seeing much in the way of access to clear any potential future blockages (heaven forbid). Is that deliberate?
Mark, acute bends only in the rainwater pipes. The sewer lines have nothing less than 45 degrees, with many being 30. There are clean outs every 100 feet or less, they just are either not installed or not visible in the video. Thank you so much for asking!
