  • A Single Segment Glitchless Speedrun of Tomb Raider 2 done in 1:43:46.
    Most of the route is quite similar to MMAN's run however i did a few different strategies and managed to beat his time by 10 seconds. So a big thanks to him for routing most of the run.
    I was on 1:42:xx pace for most of the run but I ran into a few snags near the end. I think if I keep trying at some point I could manage a 1:42:xx or high 1:41:xx.

      We had some fantastic magazines such as PowerStation, which reviewed the games and also gave you walkthroughs with screenshots, and sometimes cheat codes. I loved that magazine. Full of great laughs and very good reviews. You could tell they had a blast publishing it. I still have the last issue, and also their index of every PlayStation game rating, I can't remember if the rating index came with that last issue. The official PlayStation magazine was also good, but not as fun, and you couldn't trust its ratings of Sony games because they suspiciously never gave less than 7/10 to their own games. The Prima guides cost around £10, I think, and worth every penny. They included maps, passcodes and every single secret.

    Wow, thanks for the video. TR2 is really one of my favourite games ever, and I remember it beeing really really scary back in the days. Most of the animals and bugs werent that bad, but my god when some huge muscular henchman popped out around a corner, I allmost had a heart attack. But still, nothing wasnt as scary as luring the dinosaurus out from the cave and running back to safety and waiting it to randomly walk in your sight. First time when finally I figured out how to make my way down to the valley alive, I had no idea what was waiting for me. I actually made a really high scream when that first dino emerged from the dark and snached me. Good memories. Traumatic, but good. :)

      +Lukmendes well tomb raider was never really about the fighting. Not in the fps/action sense of the word anyway. There's a reason why they included auto aim in these games - the challenge was from the environment, the platforming, the exploration and the puzzles. Nowadays tomb raider is just your typical 3rd person shooter shitfest.

    This is the best game of my childhood. I miss games like this one. I remember when I went through many times searching for secrets, how I was happy when I managed to get a new weapon. How I was wondering what the weapon to which I found the magazine will look like. How could I not get the automatics magazines in the first level. How many times I tried to get a green secret. how happy I was when I passed Venetia ... So many memories ... Modern games have beautiful graphics, but they do not require as much combination and thinking as the older ones ...

    • @ultrairrelevantnobody1862
      @ultrairrelevantnobody1862 4 роки тому

      May I ask what did Tomb Raider 2 improve? The framerate was a lot worse on PS1 than the original game on the same system, there was way too much of an emphasis on combat, enemy variety is horribly lacking, levels don't have much flow and grow repetitive after a while, enemy placement is horrendous, and the secrets were heavily watered down. Not a good sequel.

    I definitely think that glitch speedruns and glitchless speedruns should be two different categories when it comes to speedruns. People always "a speedrun is a speedrun, end of story" BUT both types of speedrun require skill and both types of speedrun should be given their own world record. I prefer glitchless speedruns because glitch speedruns aren't in the "spirit" of the game but that's just me being a nostalgic old fool at the grand old age of 35.

    • @element1111
      @element1111 7 років тому +3

      Nah I agree 100%. Much prefer glitchless. A lot of respect to people who put in the effort to discover all the glitches, but its speed-runs like this which just make your jaw drop. When you're corner-jumping onto every platform the final time becomes meaningless.

    I've been a gamer for about 20 years now (started off with the TR games when I was 6 and loved them ever since) but I still couldn't go through these games with the level of confidence you do lol. I screamed at times just watching this 😭

    I was watching at 1,5x speed; my brain must catch up with me now :)
    Also I love how in Opera House Bartolli's thugs were like npc's from Oblivion:
    "She was here a second ago"
    "Where are you?"
    "Must have been a wind"
    "I better cut down on ale, I'm starting to see things" lol
