You guys blow Dirt trax tv out of the water!! Real reviews and testing....not a paid commercial. Love it! I’d take a Kawasaki Terx 800 over both of these. This type of machine I value robustness and durability over speed and engine HP. If I had to cross the Alaskan wild and not end up walking I definitely would take the Kawasaki
This is awesome. I love these real world reviews where you show it being used the way people use them. Not to mention your enthusiasm makes it fun to watch. I like both of those machines a lot but overall I like the look of the Defender a bit better. The USB port under the storage area behind the steering wheel is a great idea. Good Job per usual!
Both Machines are awesome! Wish we could of seen more on the work load on the Canam as far as dumping the wood and how it handled the load. Both Machines are great! Thanks for the video!
for the side by side polaris there is another thing missing and it is a bar in front of the right passenger seat so that when you take bumps you can hold on because I have already tested the two side by side and the deffender xmr has the bar and the polaris no and as a passenger I did not like in the polaris when I was in the forest and I could not stand after a bar
Another great review of these machines.... Would have liked to see Polaris’s High Lifter directly compared against the Canam XMR because these two don’t really line up but individually this was a great, in depth, review! Thanks for the videos man!
I can answer this for you guys. For basic trail riding and work they are pretty much even, but for mud the can am will always win solo because of weight. The can am weights 300+ lbs more than the Polaris meaning much better traction. The defender will tend to get a grip quicker and more often than the ranger.
You are reviving some deep nostalgia in you're videos... I used to have a cottage in Alleyn-Cawood, QC and your trails looks like my old trails. I used to ride them with a 2000 Rancher ES. Watching your videos almost makes me want to move back Canada! Really enjoy your channel!
I was riding with a guy running 30 inch blackwater evolutions on a ranger 1000 with full cab enclosure and heater. It was an amazing machine. It was extremely capable off-road including deep mud.
I have owned both Rangers and Defenders and have to say the CanAm is by far a better machine in almost every way . I now own a 2020 Defender XMR Max and it is an awesome machine . Even with the Cryptid tires it is still very capable and comfortable on the trail . Great video , keep em’ comin’ .
Can am Dennis 68 Can am Man They are great!! So glad I found this channel. Dirt trax tv has turned into nothing but paid infomercials. These guys do REAL review and testing
great video! I understand why you would compare these 2... price point, specs... it's close and you are fully honest the entire time as to how they arent the same. I agree with your decision but I liked the canam door nets, bucket rings in the bed, bolster seats, parking brake and usb charger. hopefully polaris listens and updates.
One review I never see is that the Can-Am is the only side by side that is good for people over 6'3". I'm 6'6" and the Defender is the only one I fit in. LOL
@@davisfamilyshenanigans4807 I purchased a Defender HD10. Surprisingly comfortable. I don’t think I’d like having doors because I let my knee hang out, but it’s definitely the largest cab available.
This is funny, was it just me, or did he talk up the can am the entire video, just to say the Polaris is the best at the end? 😂 “The grip is amazing, the clearance is awesome, the storage is plentiful, it does everything perfect and better then the Polaris .... and then he’s like, the winner is..... Polaris. It’s like a boss that is choosing a person for a new position, your the best candidate in all aspects... but Bill gets the position, because he’s Bill. 🙄
I had the same thought when watching the video, and then watching the end result. Tires were the difference in this whole comparison. Put some trail tires on both of them, and see how they do in comparison.....
The ITP Cryptids are absolutely NOT as aggressive as the Outlaw 2’s. OL2 has deeper lugs and better lug spacing along with a much more effective side/shoulder lug. Not to mention, the 30” Cryptids only measure 28.5” diameter at best. They do have a slightly better ride due to the long tip on the center lug. However, the Outlaw 2’s are a level above in the mud. When you run them both in real mud (Louisiana swamps) the disadvantage of the Cryptids will quickly become apparent.
I just bought a 2020 back country 1000 xp 6 seater here in Michigan I've been driving it but it's been 0 degrees and no windshield it's cold but if would have seen this video before I definitely would have got it sooner, my friend has a can am 1000 I like mine a lot more it seems better for hard work. Another thing that made me wanna get a polaris 1000 I seen a guy down the road pull a Silverado 1500 out of a ditch not with the winch but from behind using a clevis pinned through hit hole impressive
Great video. Both these units are on my short list for next year. (Spring) Really appreciate the "real" as you can do, test track that you have. Funny you humbled both units right out of the gate on your humbling hill rock pile. Only thing missing was the engine braking test. Think the Ranger would win this if the front diff would stay engaged. The tires on the Defender would get swapped out for a more hard packed, trail friendly tire if I go that route. The Defender has throttle control, but I realize you were comparing work modes, so.... Parking brake is a must have for me. Usually end up making my own system. Nice feature. Good apples to apples comparison. Or pretty darn close. Way better than most comparisons. Love it. Subscribed.
Not true 30 inches tires on defender, 28 1/2 inch tall. The hill climb on defender shows keep smooth steady throatle, first attempt you left off the gas too soon. My defender is now 70 inches wide after swaping rims n rubber. Make some mud flaps lol. That flopping arm rest is a pain in thé but tho on mine. Its a tank with more power than youll need. Pushes snow like tractor. Turning radius is the best on this defender... Come to chitek lake rally in Saskatchewan...
For pure utility I am a fan of the Ventrac tractor but that is a pure utilitarian where as these are fun on the trails too. I like Polaris' list of accessories and aftermarket work parts. Can am seems more like a fun toy and not a utility rig.
True but they are better on hard pack lighter and u can run 5 psi in them and not worry about tires coming off the rim also the outlaws are a little better in the mud but all those other things in my book make the cryptids better
I don’t like the standard bench of Polaris or can am seat so that draws me to the bolstered can am seats. Brp can am ski doo imo are not great at clutching and getting power to the ground they are ok but not great. They are however great at building/designing engines. Polaris is great at clutching which allows them to perform so well when they have equal or less hp than the other brands. A can am engine with Polaris clutching would be an animal
Chad BassMaster pioneer is better than them all. Needs shocks and tires and its the best machine performance and reliability. Polaris should be reliable until the warranty runs out then it will start to fail you
@@gsfbffxpdhhdf7043 Im in the market for a machine, and this is the conclusion ive come to as well. Perhaps Can Am inst so bad, but the negative reviews I've read about Polaris is brutal. They make the style of machine I want, however I would not be happy fixing everything after 2 years.
How can this be a legit comparison when you have 26" mild tread tires on the Polaris and 30" aggressive tread on the canam? Talk about rigging a comparison... wow, you usually do such a good job I am shocked you even did this. So put the mild tires on the canam and the aggressive ones on the Polaris and see what happens?
Should have gotten a high lifter ranger if you wanted a fair test, or tested a normal defender against a this normal ranger. Not really an apples to apples test here. I mean the tires alone show that.
I respect your opinion, nice video excelente presentación from 2 great UTV. I decided for the Can am I like the unlimited for the a.c. work excelente right here in Florida. I sure is Superior Quality and durability is the best.😊🤝
This blows my mind that people always refuse to compare models that are similar to each other. Get the same mud focused Polaris and then see lol ridiculous
Completely missed the ball... It's a mud machine... Xmrs PURPOSELY made the shocks stiffer for mud. And cryptids are one of my favorite tires but come on... Apples to oranges. Plus I never had a problem with a rotax engine like I have those crappy pro stars (speaking from experience)

I would diff choose the Kawasaki over Polaris and can am in heart beat but I would choose Yamaha over everything
Aman to that.
JohnnyRebKy I’m looking at a Mule Pro MX as we speak
Really hard to compare these 2being the CAN AM is so focused on the mud
Well polaris could’ve sent a high lifter edtion
The can am is focused on going through the mud and the Polaris is focused on breaking every time it is rodez

What happened to the dump comparison for the canam with the full load of wood?????
I have a 2020 ranger backcountry and my driver seat is adjustable forward and back just like the canam...
Kevin Raynor yes S Polaris is always following Can-Am never leading fact they don’t lead anybody except in repairs..
Just looking at the two the Canam has bigger high traction tires? Fair to compare not knowing the outcome yet?

Save some money buy an 92 Cherokee then turbo it and cut of the body 👍👌 RZcherokee turbo

Can am is a so much better machine all the way around. The only people still buying Polaris are the ones that still have a newspaper subscription .
Ranger has a better cab sealing. And doesnt rattle s much as the can am. Ranger high lifter has 15 in clearance. 30 in. Mud tires
High country is not a high lifter .
Why did polaris put the muffle in the back next to hitch. It's gonna get busted when hooking up a trailor.

The Outlaws that come on the Ranger are only 28” but are still just as tall as the crypids and work way better and more aggressive.

more testing of how the gearing and cvts work together how much abuse they can take
