  • In this video, we look at using Ableton Live’s Grooves feature to add a more human feel to a MIDI drum beat. Grooves have been part of Ableton Live for a long time and there are of course many applications for them aside from this example. As a musician, I understand the musical terminology. But as a new DAW user, I sometimes have a hard time wrapping my head around what these Abelton terms mean in relation to what they do to the clip. This video did a great job explaining it and showing the correlation to the sound. Great job and thank you.

Thanks for this video! I've made a song which contains a ton of different drum patterns and I have 2 questions:
    1) To apply the groove, I selected every drum pattern individually while holding down Command and then selected the groove in the clip section. Is there a more efficient way to for example apply a groove to every drum pattern within the same track or bus?
    2) Is there a way to bypass the groove without deleting it from the groove pool so I can easily flick between hearing my track with and without the groove applied? The most efficient way I can see is changing the Times of the groove in the Groove Pool from 0% to 100% ?
