- With Friday the 13th recently passing us by, we felt it was time that we dive into one of the Big 3 slashers, Jason Voorhees. With a surplus of films to choose from, we went to the most universally loved film in the entire franchise, "Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part 6." So come and join us as we dive into the meta, self-referencing sequel.

Executive Producer: Berge Garabedian
SERIES SYNOPSIS: Ahhh the 80's. A simpler time where the blood ran red, the tits swung freely, and the weed was copiously smoked. A time where rampant killers were simply excuses for excessive sex and over the top murder. Yes, we're looking at an era where the slasher movie ran wild over cinemas everywhere. Today, we're looking at "Real Slashers."

This movie is so much fun. It has a sense of humor and can poke fun without going full on comedy. Some fun kills. Tommy and Megan were good protagonists, etc.
This has been my favorite movie since I was a kid. Rented it from the local video store when I was about 10… so fun!
Same and I agree the opening scene is a work of art totally perfect. This and Jason takes Manhattan (yes I know) are my favs.
4, 6 and Manhattan were my favorites.
Same I had my grandma rent it for me back in the late 2000’s when I was around 8 and it’s been my favorite Friday the 13th film since. 6, 4, 8, and yes X are my favorites of the series.
Fun Fact. In all the films, Jason has never killed anyone at Camp Crystal Lake. 6 is potentially the only time, but it was renamed Camp Forrest Green.
he was a killer in the first movie even tho they say he wasnt but i still believe it
Well part 2 was at the Camp he killed people there
@@jamesmorant1406 Yeah it was the other side of the lake.
@@DBSG1976 oh
@@darknessviking Bullshit, it was his mother, no matter what you "believe".
Friday the 13th was the 80's, man. Literally every year (except for '87) had a Friday film in it.
Part 1 is a classic in every way, Part 2 builds on the lore, Part 3 you gotta love for that funky Thriller-inspired theme, & Parts 4, 5, & 6 were always my favorites because they have that POV from a kid thing--which many of us were around the age of a Tommy Jarvis, Reggie Winter, or the school-age kids at Camp Forest Green (all done a few years before Halloween 4's Jamie Lloyd), which gave Jason this mythic status & made him feel like a real-world threat.
Part 7 was cool for the superpower, telekinetic angle. Part 8...it's New York in the 80's...what's not to love?
Of the big 3 slasher franchises, Friday has always reigned supreme imo. Doesn’t have multiple timelines like Halloween and Jason was never outright disgraced like Freddy or Michael.
Always thought of 7 as Jason vs Carrie. From what I hear Hodder wants to wear the hockey mask again. Damn I hope he does!
Also, I like how with each Friday film, they always depicted Jason as stronger and more grotesque, and like you said, they kept the same timeline, not only that, most of them pick up from where the last one left off. Part 5 was misunderstood, and I actually liked it. The only issue I had with 5 was them trying to turn Tommy into "the new Jason". I'm glad in part 6 they cleaned it up and most fans can chalk the end of 5 as just another dream sequence to which it was. The 80's seemed like a great time, I was born in 1987 but I remember a lot of the spill over from the 80's into the early 90's.
Also, 7 imo was a great way to expand the Friday the 13th universe, if an undead being can be resurrected multiple times, why can't they have a telekinetic girl.
83 and 87 didnt have a F13 release. these idiots need to stop the court battle crap and give us some Jason!
This is the best entry in the series, and one of my biggest guilty pleasures.
i would not call it a gulity pleasure(me kind of liking Jason goes to hell is a true gulity pleasure) when it's a good movie.
@Ben T
That's fair! In all honesty, Jason Goes to Hell is my second favorite entry, and I agree it is a major guilty pleasure.
part 5 is my guilty pleasure.
I wouldn’t call it a guilt pleasure,it’s a genuinely well made movie with a simple but effective premise and good humor
I only watch Friday The 13th part 2, through 6.
Mongoloid? Umm I'm pretty sure that's pretty much on the racist spectrum...
This is my favorite of the series. I remember watching it with my dad on his birthday, October 13th. Mom even had a birthday cake with a Jason knockoff mask on it and the butcher knife covered in red frosting.
What a cool, fun family! And an awesome memory to cherish.
Wasn’t it Arnold Horshack who brought him back to life?
Bruh... I don't think you're supposed to say "m0ngol0id" anymore...
Let alone multiple times
cant say what Ginny said in part 2 anymore. "frightened r3t4rd"
Is this a joke, or are you actually that sensitive?
Yikes, they tricked you good, huh?
Freedom of speech.
Jason Voorhees gets the Frankenstein treatment.
One of the best Sequel's in the Franchise they had fun with it didn't take it to seriously good humor Great kills Great soundtrack CJ Graham was Great as Jason Thom matthews Great as Tommy
Tommy Went from Hero in part 4 to Dumb Ass in part 6, Tommy shouldve been charged with all those murders
Jason was dead & buried but Tommy Fuck Face dug him up
@@militiacoming672 it was all Tommy Fault 😂
Hands down for me part 6 was the best of the series, although part 4 comes close probably because of its brutal deaths, Corey Feldman and Crispin Glover. But what makes part 6 great is its gothic atmosphere, humour, chemistry between Tommy and Megan, Alice Cooper soundtrack and a Jason who is not only threatening but also seems more tactical and methodical than ever before. Tom McLaughlin’s direction is also sublime.
and Jason standing on the RV. iconic image for the franchise.
@@markmac2206
💯 percent that is a great shot and I gotta say that whole sequence in the RV is probably one of the best scenes demonstrating Jason’s brutality. The direction is stunning.
My fave friday simply for the setting… and like it stuck in my childhood brain (the paint ball people, the opening scenes bringing jason back!) final chapter snd the remake are also my faves but i agree Jason Lives is the most universally loved.
I have always loved Jason Lives! Jason's look is so awesome in it! It almost screams classic Jason.... and the opening title sequence is my second favorite opening horror movie title sequence off all time! Anyone guess what my favorite of all time is??? lmao
I don't think this is a question that ever been really asked, how much responsibility does Mrs. Voorhees have for the presumed death of her son?
man i always wanna see those scenes, even some say they were gonna tie freddy and jason in more by having “Mr.Krueger” being a gardener or something lol.
well if Pam is to be believed she was working at the time, so i don't really think it's her fault.
@@MrYac-ie8ie Well if these movies had subtext (lol) It could be that a) She had Jason as a single mother because she was engaged in the kind of behaviours that typically get the councillors killed in these movies. b) she regretted her choices and resented the very difficult life of having a kid with the pretty catastrophic physical and mental disabilities that Jason has. So much so she occasionally (or not so occasionally) fantasized or wished for his death. c) she unconsciously offloaded responsibility for the safety of her lifelong burden onto an avatar of her own past irresponsible self (the horny drunk teens), saying "see what you get when you engage in immorality?!" and possibly also looking to her past self to live out the worst result of her own shame and therefore sink her burden in the dark depths of Crystal Lake. The lake symbolizes returning this thing she both loves and hates to her womb. Unfortunately, she could not bear the guilt, so she snapped. Jason now lives in her head and she gets to redeem herself as the "good mother" by externalizing the violence of her self-hatred in a murderous rampage against her own sins. Holy Shit, I can't believe I'd never thought that through before! It's bloody brilliant! If that much motivation was their intention... which it most assuredly was not. Or maybe it was, what the hell do I know.
She did say she was preparing meals when it happened. She was the cook. She sure always seemed genuine about it. Her son wasn't watched and he drowned. Definitely drove her mad.
Pamela was married. She either A) Killed her (Abusive) husband before Jason was born and dumped his corpse in Crystal lake or B) Her husband left them after Jason was born.
Part 6 had an alternate ending that referenced Jason's father actually being the one to give Jason a grave. He did the same for Pamala.
The call sheet at 8:13 has the filming location of the paintball scene.
Part 6 did meta humor better then just about every 90s horror movie.
My money's on New Nightmare, but I prefer the Friday series over all
@Sean Weekes I think Friday is the most consistent with good sequels.
Halloween just has the original,H2(1981),H4, and 2018 for me.
For Nightmare it’s just the original,N3,and New Nightmare.
Not sure how to categorize Freddy vs Jason lol
@@mtb5431 I like all of the sequels of ANOES, even Dream Child.
@0 0 Lisa Wilcox is great so it has that going for it at least
The disrespect to Scream will not be tolerated.
The movie’s theme music was great in this one. Last act around the cabins always gave me those great Friday the 13th vibes.
Did you just use the word ‘mongoloid’? Isn’t that word shunned cause its racist history?
What did u wanna be when u grow up
I think we're dead meat!
I love the friday the 13th series and it's one of my favorite slasher's. The first 4 film's are probably my favorite one's. I think 5, 6 and 7 are pretty decent sequel's. Manhattan and jason x are alright and they both have there moment's. Jason goes to hell is the only friday the 13th movie I don't really care for. I thought freddy vs. jason was a decent horror film. I thought the remake was ok but there's just some thing's I thought that could've been done better. Jason voorhee's is definitely one of my favorite slasher killer's along with freddy, leatherface, chucky and michael myer's.
Part 6 is the best Friday the 13th movie of all time! Zombie Jason! Lil monglyod Jason
Love Part 6, it's my favourite in the series, after the original. Hell, it's a better movie than the original, but it wouldn't exist without it, so that's why I put the old Mrs. Voorhees on top. But after that, is this one, the most fun Friday of them all.
That’s me at 7:59 lmao. To this date, it’s still a cringe worthy photo.
I agree. Aside from Freddy vs Jason, this is my absolute favorite Friday The 13th film.
Speaking of new Jason stories however, some of the fan films are outrageously good. I especially love the Never Hike series of fan fictions from Womp Stomp Films. Never Hike Alone is a fresh take on the Jason story. And its sequel/prequel Never Hike In The Snow is a strong follow up.
I also enjoy Ev8l Remains, a fan film (maybe from Australia or New Zealand, based on the accents) that pits Jason against another heavy hitter of the genre, none other than Michael Meyers.
Funny side note.
I always chose CJ as the best Jason. Turns out it was because of the scene that wasn't him.
That was HANDS DOWN the best Jason.
Dumb suits.
Jason is merely walking but he's HUGE and look at the ground he covers. It makes it believable that he could catch running prey.
He was so hulking, he moved through the forest with such speed and ferocity MERELY WALKING, that it truly set an atmosphere that he's inescapable.
I would kill to see that Jason have done the whole film.
Did meta horror years before New Nightmare and Scream. Very ahead of its time!
Easily my favourite Friday film. So much fun
Final chapter will always be the Pinnacle and favorite entry for me, but Jason Lives was the best of the zombie Jason films. Kinda feel bad that Kane Hodder is considered to have given the best portrayal yet was in the worst entries.
Shows you how good he was in the role.
Yes Friday The 13th Jason Lives is my favorite of the series ⚡️🩸🩸🩸🔥🔥🔥🪓🔪
I don't mean to be a party pooper here, but we retired the term "Mongoloid" for people with Downs Syndrome decades ago because it was offensive for a number of reasons. And since there's no indication that Jason Voorhees even has Downs Syndrome, its usage here is double confusing.
And here we go. There’s always a person like you.🤦🏻♂️
I blame Tom Savini for the continued usage
is that worse than what Ginny called him?
@@markmac2206 Equally
Tasteless But given the timeframe it was appropriate around the early 80s And stop trying to one up fax
@@stealyourface7280 one up fax? just asking a question kid. jeez you guys are sensitive. my era would pummel you.
I've come to call Jason lives the last true Friday the 13th. All the elements from the past fridays were there along with the humor and a Bond shout out. As a kid it was an instant favorite. Hodder does kick ass though. I hear he's hoping to don the hockey mask again. Or someone for that matter he just wants to see a new one either way. I'm hoping myself. Fingers crossed!
This is my favorite Friday, the most fun Friday and the most creative
Jason lives is one of the best Friday's. A lot of fun. And Megan was so hot!
When you cast the woman from Hardbodies with a "no nudity" rider...
How did you do a recap of Part 6 without ever once saying the words "Alice Cooper"?
Ooooh but hes back! The maaaaan behind the mask!
The soundtrack in this film is the best in the series. Favorite movie by far
Part 4 and 6 are definitely my 2 favorite Friday films.
This Friday the 13th it was 11:00pm. I say, "oh shit. I better start a Jason flick before it's too late." Without a second thought I throw Jason Lives in the Bluray player. Always was my favorite.
The novel for this movie had Jason's father, Elias Voorhees, visiting Jason's grave at the end, only to realize it was empty.
One of the best in the series of Friday the 13th. Quite like number 3 as well.
Just saw this alongside part 7 at a theater for a double feature. Twas a lot of fun.
this wouldve been awesome at the drive in.
It was not implied he killed more ppl at the paintball retreat. We watched the ppl implied in that segment get killed, except for the little guy w the glasses, later we find his leg and his glasses.
When he broke the pine tree limb accidentally then tried to put it back. Priceless to this day
Part 6 was the first FT13 film I ever watched as a young teenager back in the 90s on tv. Funny it's the only one with no nudity lol
Totally agree! This is probably an unpopular opinion, but the "Zombie Jason Trilogy" (Part 6, 7, 8) are by far my favorite in the entire franchise. With part 6 being the best, part 7 being a close runner up with superior make up effects, and part 8 being the cheesy, fun third entry. I adore these 3 films.
I hear Hodder wants to wear the hock again. Damn I hope he does!
Sweet loving this already 🤟💀🤟💀
Part 2 is the best but 6 is the most entertaining.
In my opinion this was the best sequel
I love Part VI. It's my favorite.
I like the pov of girls jeans
My fucking favorite!
I’m always torn between this and 4 when it comes to the best Friday of the series. 4 had better kills, a better Jason and was just as funny but there’s something about 6…it has a charm to it. Not to mention it hit a home run with its self-aware tone.
The only thing missing in 6 is boobs
Part 6 is right up there with part 4, and a little more entertaining than it as well.
Wait. Was there any nudity in the first one? Honestly, I can't remember whether I've even seen it anywhere other than basic cable, so I'm legitimately asking. I don't believe the game of strip Monopoly actually makes it quite that far. Was it Kevin Bacon's girlfriend? I know she was running around in a T-shirt and panties, but that ain't nudity.
Don't think first movie had nudity, couple of implied scenes but no actual onscreen nudity, it was more about violence and gore and how much they got away with it. It's the reason why MPAA went hard on Part 2 and censored the hell out of it.
Part 4 had the most impact on me as a kid.
9:50
pfffft
what is this puritanical attitude about nudity in the jason movies about?
part 5 is awesome... id take it over part 6 any day of the week.
any way you slice it... part 6 was made for kids.
You didn't mention the excellent theme song by Alice Cooper !
So awesome!!!
The best!
This was the first Friday movie I saw as a kid, and as such, it is my personal favorite of the franchise. My parents had a crappy, worn down VHS tape of it, and I watched it way too many times when they weren't home.
Ah yes, the SECOND 2nd best in the franchise BEHIND Final Chapter the OTHER universally ADORED film in the series.
Tommy doesn't make the decision to "accidentally resurrect Jason". He made the decision to break out of he psychiatric facility he was put in so he could go to the cemetery to dig up Jason's grace. A bolt of lightning hit a fence post he used to stab Jason's corpse with, causing the resurrection.
Technically,The Jarvis family lived near Crystal Lake. Not in Crystal Lake, yes the business went on a paintball retreat. I’ve had business go laser tag for a retreat.
This makes Friday the 13th a fun day!
It's so funny how the tone has to be just right. Ja.son takes Manhattan was a borderline comedy. If you don't take it seriously it's funny. (when he punches the kids head off with one punch?) But it was a huge failure. "Jason goes to hell" was equally as ridiculous but wasn't even "so bad it's good". However Jason X and Freddy vs Jason were both great movies for fans. The hologram Camp Crystal Lake in Jason X is a personal fav. Especially with the 2 giggling teen girls getting into the sleeping bag and the next scene he's whacking the sleeping bags against the tree. "Tee Hee, ow." "Like, that hurts ha ha ha". I think that with every horror film series, there comes a point where you start routing for the bad guy. The last 3 Freddy movies (not the reboot) you wanted to see him finding clever ways to kill the teens. It was worth it for his one liners. Now Jason may be silent, but he still has character and a sense of humor.
forgot, tommy should REALLY be viewed as a menace after part 6, was a hero in parts 4-5 first obviously, but jason was literally rotting in the ground since the end of part 4 till he flipped out having to get over his trauma about it. at the end of tommy's tenure in these films (not counting the pretty good new fan fiction 2 parter "friday the 13th vengeance") jason's now only tied down in the lake, quite more likely to come back than after part 4, not to mention all the dead people from part 6 that never would've happened without frankenstein's monster resurrected by t.jarvis here.
I don't know why, but "So... What were you gonna be when you grew up?" Is probably my favorite line in the whole series
This movie is total garbage. My friend and I both watched it the other day after 10 years or so of not watching and yeah we still hate it. I seen it for the first time in 1995 and I've always hated it. Its soundtrack is awful. Alice Coopers music is terrible. The acting blows. The characters aren't likeable. This tommy jarvis actor sucks. Corey Feldman is Tommy Jarvis and no one else. Its just a total waste of time. I'd rather watch Jason Takes Manhattan anyday over this pile of LAME bad comedy garbage.
I generally hate when something that was semi series gets a humorous sequel as it tends to ruin what made the films that came before good, think Gremlins 1 compared to the terrible Gremlins 2, But this is the exception and if my favorite Friday film.
Anybody notice in Tommy dream is part 5 Jason is buried so shallow? Didn’t know if anyone else thought that was funny!
My order best to worst 4,6,2,3,1,FVJ,5,7,remake, goes to hell(awesome kills),10,8. Honestly other than part 4, 6 and 2 none are great. None of the Fridays get freddys dead or seed of chucky bad. The bad ones are still have a few fun moments. Jason x is lot of fun and so is jason go to hell for being stupid concepts. Even 8 has the boxer scene but is by far the worst.
Thank you, keep the retros coming
ok, the kills in part 3 are "in a whole other dimension" but the kills in part 6 are considered "mild". stop. he punches through a man's chest (ripping out his heart), bends the sheriff backwards, crushes the deputy's skull (like part 3 but without the 3D eyeball popping out), pushes a girl's face into an RV so hard it bends the metal, throws a guy by his arm head first into a tree so hard his arm comes off, sissy's head/neck is literally bent into torn off, paula's was so gruesome her entire cabin is soaked in blood in at most a few minutes but off camera, and these are here being considered "mild". c'mon.
Its_ all_ about_ Jason, _ Michael _ who!!!???_( lol!!!!( 😁😁😄😄😃😀❤❤🧡💢💥🖖🖖👌💯💯💯💯💯
Having grown up in the eighties, I appreciated the gratuitous se and violence in horror movies from then.
Ahem! This is the 21st century☝🏽
Jason Voorhees suffers from Hydrocephalus syndrome 😉
"Mongaloid"? Are we sure Mr.vorhees is of asiatic descent, because that's important bruh...
Maybe it's because I saw it at a Drive In ( which to Me made it even more Cool) but You forgot to Mention how Cool the Trailer for this was...
Six killed me with the ridiculous attempts at humor. Just no chance of any suspense or fear, the entire movie is a joke. I revently watched it with ignoring the trash humor and it was good without it, but far from the best
Jason’s implied fear of water came from a dream state. He was out and we’ve all dreamed stuff that isn’t true,so it’s totally plausible that he is afraid of water in his dreams. He obviously doesn’t fear it while awake, so I don’t get why ppl are so hung up on that.
Six is just above x, jgth, and manhattan. For me it was the beginning of the end, though i did like 7. 09 remake is the best along 2 - 4
I always thought that his casket looked way to slim to have Jason inside. I mean the immortal hulking Jason resting inside that slender box?
GOAT of the series.
It's not just my favorite of the franchise, but probably my favorite slasher of all time, and for good reason
I loved the title song He's Back (The Man Behind the Mask) by Alice Cooper.
He doesn't have a theme musically because he's so popular.........
This movie stars everyone's favorite actor Arnold Horshack.
Today is the day that Friday the 13 Part 6was released in theatres. Happy Birthday, Jason Lives!
It's sad that two grown men can't come together with two different ideas because of the love of the franchise and meet in the middle or as close as possible to make that money and do the damn thing and make this a great movie for the fans
Friday the 13th pt 6: Jason Kills Horshack
It's bullshit that they couldn't come together and make the 13th because they were all infants who couldn't get their shit together.
Friday the 13th pt. 6: Jason Kills Yuppies
Great video.
The best after the original first 3 the beginning of Zombie Jason and the film death of Horshack lol
So weird I watched this movie tonight. Then this video shows up on my UA-cam feed.

Definitely the best film in the franchise. CJ Graham is the best Jason in my opinion.
My absolute favorite from the franchise! 🎉
Confession: I don't like Jason Lives. It's the only 80s one I think sucks.
This may very well be my favorite Friday the 13th picture.
Thanks for sharing 😊 One of the best!!! 🤩🎥🍿😁
I think this is my favourite of all of the Friday the 13th movies it's good film :)
If Tommy had left Jason's grave alone, none of this would have happened
