Hello artists, welcome to the iart tutorial! In today's video, we'll learn how to draw by analyzing this scene here. We'll see tips for drawing overlapping scenes and avoiding some mistakes. As usual, I'd like to remind you that this video is meant to be used as an example of animation art errors to demonstrate some drawing techniques and tips to avoid them. The aesthetics of the drawing doesn't take away from the beauty of the scene since good art isn't just about perfect lines, right? Thank you, buddy, you're a friend, but let's get straight to the point. Let's analyze this scene to identify where the problem lies. I'll make a sketch overlay. Notice from the ankle heights, we can deduce that they are on the same level and that Goku is in a plane behind Gohan. Gohan's sketch, in my opinion, looks okay, no proportion issues. Now let's analyze Goku. The first thing that catches my attention is the size of the legs. I've put together a comparison where I took their legs and put them together as if they were standing. Look, Gohan here is a teenager and his legs are the same size as his father's. So, we have a problem with body proportion here. But that's not all, there's also a continuity issue with the arm of the hand below, which in my opinion, is too long. Additionally, the pose of the upper arm, directed downwards with the palm facing forward, is a bit unnatural since usually people can only bend their palm about 90 degrees with the forearm. You can try it yourself. We've seen the main flaws; I won't comment on the lines in this video since it's a matter of personal preference, and I prefer to focus on more structural problems. I think what happened was that maybe the artist, after drawing Gohan, drew Goku in the background just to fill in the scene, making adaptations to parts that didn't fit. In this drawing, I show a common mistake when drawing partially obscured objects. See how the structures lose their continuity or get distorted. This often happens when you only draw what's visible. Okay, let's correct this art. How will I avoid the continuity error? It's simple. I'll draw Gohan first and then make the almost complete sketch of Goku. Then, I'll erase what won't be visible when finalizing. Regarding the arm, I believe the intention was to point it forward, not downwards. I'll make this adaptation as well. Check the description; I've included links to videos where I talk more about perspective. I'll try to keep the position as similar as possible, making only necessary adjustments, as we've seen so far, and as usual in my other videos in this format, I'll keep the same colors but I'll draw and color in my style. A tip for drawing complex overlapping poses like this would be to start with the main part of the scene, which here is the hands united in the same movement. From there, I'll fit the characters' positions according to perspective, but this fitting must be done respecting the joints and not distorting the length of the structures, otherwise, it looks strange, like the case of the huge legs and poorly positioned arm here.
