As your head race bearings were loose from wheeling and normal settling from new, adjusting them to spec makes a massive difference to how the bike feels, this will be the reason the bike feels so much more ‘buttoned up’ 👍
Hey mate, they were loose from the factory and tightened to spec back in July, it turns out they hadnt touched the headstock bearings at all! Must have just been the tyre pressures and handlebar location,Weird !
I’m watching your experience with your Duke very carefully. I have exactly the same year and model. For me it’s been ‘so far so good.’ Can’t wait for the warm weather again. Cheers from 🇺🇸
These Key less ignitions seem to be more trouble than their worth. It’s sad you’ve got to that point where you’ve lost trust in a bike you love. The likeable Rider gave his back for similar reasons and now rides a BMW S1000XR.
jesus i was thinking of trading my MT10 SP in for a superduke R i am having second thoughts now. my Yam has never put a foot wrong and i have seen loads of vids with guys like you having constant issues with the KTM
Great engine in that KTM. Shame some of the electronics let it down. Personally,I refuse to have keyless. Just more trouble than it's worth. Hanging onto my MT10. Had it 7 years and done 30,000 miles with zero issue.
You've not had much luck have you, bikes in this day and age and the price they are shouldn't be having these issues. Maybe your best looking at a Japanese bike, I know they're not very exotic (in my opinion) but there pretty much bullet proof, hope you get things sorted 👍
@@jimmyboimazarti1234 Only issue I’ve had is MTC failure (going in to limp mode). Did the exhaust servo delete (healtech) after first service. No issues since (9000km now) and I always keep my battery on a trickle charger if not riding for a week or more 🍻
I had a new 2019 gen2, other than loose battery lead once and a cracked tft dash, luckily just b4 warranty run out I had no other issues with mine. I traded it last April for an SX ninja 1000, cracking bike and went touring to Europe June 22 which I would not have done confidently if I had been on the sdr, once warranty runs out on Ktm’s you lose confidence as it could become very expensive with most of the issues quite a few bikes have had 😢
So I got 2023 ktm 1290 r evo, and my quickshifter doesn't work after the first service. I got track pack paid 1080$ extra. Have you had a similar issue?
Funny you put this video out. Had my first issue with the 2022 sdr today. Fuel cap wouldn't open at the fuel station. Had to get a mate to come with tools to get it off so I could fill up and get it home. Getting sorted under warranty though. I'm the same. After all the issues I had with the 2019 I still went with KTM again because the service department have been so good.
Hey mate, there's a video on this on my channel but both are great bikes, for me the SDR fit me a little better, but the triumphs build quality and parts was superb
Jesus my dude, how much bad luck can one man get 😵💫Hopefully you get a nice big discount and the duke behaves from now on, no more switching bikes! haha
Makes me a bit nervous as ive only had mine since august and havent ridden it for a couple of months now!such a rush to ride the thing though!i absolutely love it,but i would move it on if i had as many problems as you've had.i wonder if they just dont like crap weather?be interested to know if the people who've had issues use them year round like you do?
Same here, got a drz400sm for this time of year.i didnt mind the winter riding on a sports bike, the fairing kept the engine and exhausts from taking all the muck, but the superduke is all motor and pipes,it would be a nightmare to clean up!
Yeah bike manufacturers need to f*** off these key fobs. I have a 2020 Speed Triple 1050RS with one and it's a pain in the ass. Also yeah the 1290 Super Duke is a mature bike platform, no excuse for these issues. Speed Triple 1200 is a brand new design so there's bound to be these niggles. Recommend Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres, they work well all year round on crappy Yorkshire roads for me. Bring on spring/summer!
All these new bikes, loaded with electrics that constantly shit themselves.. I had a 790 duke, it went through 3 engines. Put me off new KTMs for good. Have gone a Kawasaki z900. It’s not that ‘modern’ but I know it won’t break down
Man sucks your luck really wanted to get the new speed triple but so many issues scared me off. It's not just you It's a lot of people now this bike too, too much electronics on these things I think. Good luck
Damn, I hear so many people with KTM issues. They really need to try and fix their quality issues. I bet you miss the kawasaki 1000sx with all your recent experiences
Dam man that sucks !!! i have not had any of those problems on my 22 EVO, i have 5400 miles on it i love the bike but i understand you're frustration, the one thing i love about it is the torque, i have never felt that much torque except on a 2 stroke when it hits the powerband, if you do trade it in what would u get? I really do wish you the best of luck man, hang in there...
The only problem with your KTM is that it was built on Friday afternoon, by some guy in a hurry to get home and chomp on a schnitzel. Yea, I have a KTM as well LOL
KTM is known to have reliability issues. I had a Duke 890r before we my Aprilia and while I loved it, nothing but issues so I had to let it go. Yes I downsized to rs660 but no issues in over a year. Sorry to hear bro
@@jls.mp4 it’s not bullshit. There are shit loads of horror stories about KTM and their over elaborate electronics. Not saying they’re bad bikes, just their electronics are highly prone to have problems.
All bike brands have their issues. To say KTM is known to be unreliable is absolute rubbish. Sure u get a lemon and in the old days KTM road bikes were in infant stage of development, like any manufacturer. They have for the past 8 years in particular the last 3 taken a shared top position with a couple of other manufacturers. What bike you ride and I’ll dig up bad shit on it as well
@@sergeantsodom6969 Ive had two MT10’s, including latest generation but moved on to Duke with no regrets or problems. The MT10 is also an awesome bike, im sure you would agree but I still prefer to Duke. Annoying these problems for you. Sort it out KTM.

I dunno about you guys
I'm totally willing to deal with ktms issues to have that fun and performance
It would've gone a long time ago if it wasn't such a good bike when it works!
Mine did it. Disconnected and reconnected the battery, sorted.
What do u expect from a KTM even the dirtbikes are having problems with overheating and TBI since they left the carbs behind on the two strokes

Are you buying these from the same dealer? If so I suspect that the people putting the bikes together are doing a bad job.
Which bike did you like the most (speed triple or Ktm) and why? :)
Aside of the problems of course
